Of course the King would allow them to leave the castle provided they were with an escort- wasn't that the way it went with all young women? At the 'request'/order from Uther she noted that Avaris turned and gave her a smile then a turned back to Uther with a smile. Obviously Avaris not only approved with the suggestion of a ride, but was about to come up with a witty remark back. "But of course m'lord. Not to mention, the two of us are hardly innocent. but I respect your concern."
At the comment from Avaris Uther, who must have been in a wonderful mood this morning, let out one a chuckle. "Depends on how you view innocence- if you are referring to how much trouble you two caused when you were younger then you are far from innocent. I was referring more to the fact that you are two young women. You both can protect yourself admirably, but there is no reason to not be cautious anyways. ... And yes in case you were wondering I knew all along about most of the pranks you two pulled on my son." What a way to have the ladies squirming in their seats in front of him.
"Well.... Shall we go fetch our riding capes and be off?"
When Uther mentioned that he had known pretty much all along about the pranks they had pulled Morgana just about dropped her fork in surprise. If he had known how come he rarely said anything/punished them. Surely he would have taken every opportunity he could to punish those who would torment Arthur? Before she could make another comment Avaris turned to her and wondered if they should go get therir cloaks. As she was pretty much done her food anyway, she nodded and also excused herself from the table. "Care to join us m'lord?" Uther gave a wave of his hand and shook his head no. "Perhaps another day. I have quite a bit of work to do today. You ladies have fun though."
Morgana followed Avaris out of the hall and turned in the direction of her chambers where her cloak was. "I shall get my cloak and meet you down at the stables in 5 minutes." With a quick smile to her friend Morgana headed off to her chambers. Upon entering her room Morgana retrieved her cloak from the armoire and tied it around her shoulders then left and went to the stables. When she arrived at the stables she saw that her horse was already saddled and one of their guards assisted her up onto the horse.

"Oh don't worry too much. It doesn't dislike anyone but me. ...I promise Morgana, that unless you decide to tell my father about this...thing yourself, he shall hear no whisper of it. You have my word that i will protect you as you protect it."
While she continued to hold the stone, she looked at Arthur as he put a hand on her arm. For all intents he was saying that if she protected the stone he would protect her in whatever way he could. As Morgana had experienced the King's anger on a number of occasions, although she had agreed to protect the stone, she would make sure the King did not find out from her lips. "I may be a woman, but I am certainly not stupid enough to inform the King that I'm protecting a 'magical stone', however as long as I have your promise of protection I will protect this as much as I am able."
"You see what i mean?"
As Arthur took his hand from her arm and gave the stone in her hand a quick stroke, she could feel the vibrations pick up and the humming take on an angry tone. It was obviously NOT happy with his touch but seemed alright with hers. Morgana couldn't help but smirk at his comment about the 'stone' appearing to like everyone but him. It was one smart stone! "For a 'stone' it seems very intelligent. Was the person you got it from a woman perhaps? If there is something alive in there perhaps it is a maternal thing?" If there was something alive inside there it could perhaps sense whether the person holding it was a man or a woman. The combination of heat and vibrations in her hand became a bit to much and Morgana set it back down on her bed then looked back up at Arthur.

"You are quite welcome. But I realize that this was and is your private time with your father. Are you sure that there is nothing to forgive my Lady Morgana. If you wish I can just withdraw whence I came. In my defense, though I can't say that I was expecting you. ...Why, yes, in fact ..... I had just left them there a few minutes ago, ...I am not sure whether you knew or not, but he was my first tutor in the art of the sword, and other important things, and I was probably his last student. It was a tragic and horrible loss, as his daughter, but it was a loss for many others too. And its necessary and needed to show him respect and that he is remembered. That's what these wildflowers are for,"
Talk about not expecting anyone- here the Lady Morgana, ward to the King of Camelot was kneeling on the ground next to her father’s grave. If someone were to pass by and not know that the grave she knelt at was her father’s it would look strange indeed. While Morgana wished with her whole heart that her father was still alive, she knew this was a place where she could connect with his spirit and she was grateful that the King let her travel there whenever she felt the need and it was safe to do so. As Lancelot repeated his concerns about interrupting her time she raised a hand to stop him. â€No, it is perfectly acceptable for you to be here. My father was well known and well loved by many people and I would never turn anyone away who wished to honour his memory."
At the sound of the Lady Morgana's voice talking with someone and that someone answering back, the head guard of her party separated himself and approached the Lady Morgana. He knew she was able to take care of herself but at the same time, he could never forgive himself if something happened to her while he was supposed to be protecting her. He noted that she was entirely calm and unafraid of the guest- although he wasn't fully sure of who the guest was Lady Morgana did not seem threatened by him. He made himself just visible enough that if there were a threat of danger perhaps it could be avoided easily but still remained a respectful distance away from Lady Morgana.
"From the bottom of my heart I thank you for the kind words. Still to this day it can be hard for me to know that he isn't there anymore." Her father may have been a high ranked warlord and part of Uther's council, but to her he was simply her father and he treated her with every tenderness that a father could give his only child. She had known that everytime he went off to war there was a chance he would not come home and sadly that day had come true- which was how she ended up Uther's care. "While I did not know that you personallywere my father's student, I do remember him training many a young soldiers and that he was always very proud of those that studied with him. I think in a way it made up for the fact that he never had a son of his own." Sadly her mother had been unable to provide her father with a son.

Morgana did not discover until the following morning that her childhood friend Avaris had returned to Camelot. Apparently Arthur had found her while out scouting the forest and presented her to the King who of course welcomed her back with open arms. One of the King's requests however was that while she was at Camelot she was to attire herself as a proper lady and this is what had caused Morgana to see her friend again. As Avaris did not have any dresses of her own anymore, Morgana had loaned her one of her dresses- a dress of deep emerald green in a simple cut knowing that as a 'knight' she was not used to dressing 'pretty'.
It was so good to have Avaris back. She remembered with a smirk all the trouble the two girls had caused for Arthur- thinking back on it Morgana wondered why they were rarely punished for the trouble they caused. Together the two women reminisced while Avaris changed into the dress. "I sometimes wonder how we managed to avoid getting in more trouble than we did...we always seemed to be coming up with new ways to torment Arthur. It is so good to have you back Avaris." Once Avaris was dressed the two had gone for breakfast in the hall with the King.
The King stood up as Morgana entered with Lady Avaris at her side and immediately he thought back to when the two girls were younger. The two young women had clicked almost instantly and although he didn't let on, he had been more than aware of the stunts they pulled. "Good morning Morgana, Avaris. I trust you two ladies slept well?"
Morgana nodded in the King's direction and after a kiss from Uther on the forehead, the three of them sat down at the table. "Yes m'lord. I had a rather peaceful sleep last night." She made sure to leave off the 'for once' that she was thinking in her head. Morgana had actually managed to have a decent night sleep the previous night. "Would it be acceptable if Avaris and I went for ride this morning?"
Uther looked at the two and was pleased that they were willing to be together. "Of course that is acceptable. You know that my only requirement is that a couple of guards go with you so that nothing happens to you." Following a time for breakfast and wonderful conversation, a message was sent out to the stables to prepare both their horses.

"Yep...Thats pretty much the long and short of it! So glad your happy to take it Morgana, really appreciate the gesture..."
Morgana rolled here eyes at the enthusiasm with which Arthur seemed to be placing her in danger. Had he forgotten about the last time Morgana had hidden something, or rather someone, magical under Uther's nose? Uther had basically threatened to sign her death warrant if she ever did that again. Morgana had felt so strongly about making sure that the boy didn't die for simply being a Druid that she hadn't thought about Uther's anger....it wasn't until he laid down the threat. "Arthur, really I do not think that is such a good idea- in case you have forgotten the last time I did something like that your father practically threatened to sign my death warrant..." She was protesting his request to protect the 'stone' with everything she could think of but a nagging voice in the back her head told her that it needed protecting like a mother would protect its young.
She noted that Arthur chose not to answer her question about perhaps giving it to Merlin instead of her. Morgana watched as he stroked a finger around the edge and her ears began to pick up a gentle hum- it was a beautiful sound. The humming continued until all of a sudden Arthur jumped up in pain as a violent electric shock jumped from the stone to his hand. "Ow! ...THAT is why i can't keep it!!!" If it wasn't for the fact that Morgana had known that magic existed something like that would have scared her beyond belief. In away it was slightly amusing but also a little concerning that Arthur wanted her to guard something that readily gave off violent shocks.
"So instead of you keeping it or giving it to Merlin you wish to give something that has a shock that powerful to me? Why I'm flattered Arthur...." There was a part of Morgana that wanted to place the stone back in his hand and kick his butt out the door, or send it back to Merlin with a 'do not lose this' note however for some other reason she was drawn to the stone. Morgana picked up the stone in her hand and noted that the gentle hum and vibration that had been there before increased slightly at her touch and also the stone became slightly warm to the touch. The voice in the back of her head kept nagging her to protect whatever lay inside the stone as if she were protecting her own child. "Arthur, I think you are correct that whatever is in the stone desires to be protected, but I also worry about my own protection. If you can promise me that the King will not find out about this, or if he does he will not cut my head off, I will protect the stone."

If it hadn't been such a late hour, she might have been amused by the fact that Arthur squealed in fright when she sprung out of bed and pointed her dagger at him, but considering her usual sleeping style, she was NOT happy at all that he had woken her up. Now that identity had been cleared up, she simply wanted to find out what he wanted so that she could get back to sleep. "I'm sorry Lady Morgana." His voice came out as a somewhat strangled male's voice as if he was trying to cover up the fact that he had been frightened. For a brief moment she turned away from him and the sound of fliint striking to light a candle lamp was heard- she may be a lady, but she did know how to light a candle. Within a minute light from both the moon and the candle added a sense of normalcy to her bedroom- less shadows and darkness.
"I came to show you this!" Morgana watched as he held up something to the moonlight and the beam that came in through her window cast an angelic glow around the object. Whatever it was it was beautiful. She noted that he then dropped it down onto her bed and flopped down beside it. Giving a curious look to the stone-like item she joined Arthur on the bed. "It certainly is beautiful- where did you get it from?" She was hoping to discover if it was something harmless or harmful and why exactly he felt the need to show it to her at midnight- why it couldn't have waited until morning.
"I confiscated it from a Low" Arthur went to answer her question and she could hear the regret in his voice. A low? As in one of the citizens of Camelot? What would he/she be doing with an item such as this? Although she still didn't exactly know what it was, she suspected that it was something that a low would not be able to afford. She did note that Arthur did not give them information about which low he had gotten it from and although that might have cleared up some of the mystery, she chose not to press the issue.
"I see, but I am still not sure why you have woken me up in the middle of the night. Is there something you need from me?"
She did not have to wait long before he gave the reason for the midnight visit. "I need you to take it and hide it. It's magical and although i don't like the way it...feels, I don't want Uther to destroy it either. I feel like it needs protecting? I think it might be...alive." Apparently he wanted her to take it and hide it because he knew it to be magical and did not want Uther to destroy it. So basically he wanted her to hide something underneath Uther's nose- the man who for so long had been against ANYTHING magical to the point of killing those who even associated with someone or something magical. Was Arthur out of his mind?
"Let me get this correct Arthur- you wake me up in the middle of the night because you have an item that you know is magical and you suspect it to be alive...and you want me to hide it from Uther's knowledge? Uther as in the King, your father and my guardian, who up until very recently would murder anyone associated with magic? Perhaps this would be better give to Merlin who along with the Guild mages could keep whatever it is safe?"

Here was a place where Morgana could simply be a daughter remembering her father and not the Ward of the King, Foster sister to Arthur Pendragon and Lady of the Realm. Coming up her she allowed herself to shed the mask that she so often wore at court- the 'really I'm doing wonderfully today' and instead spend time simply enjoying the peace and quiet. Lady Morgana was the daughter of Duke Gorlois- once friend of the King which was how she ended up in the King's protection. Just prior to his death he had asked Uther to protect her and the King had promised to take her into his care. Morgana let her gaze wander from the headstone and notices the collection of wildlflowers on the grave. As she had yet to place her flowers, a look of confusion crossed her face. Where had the flowers come from? She knew the King hadn't been able to come up to visit in a while and the flowers were very fresh looking.
Yes,it is a beautiful return of the season, Lady Morgana, and you exemplify it well in yourself . pardon for me for my intrusion . I did not mean it to be so, and I heartfully beg your forgiveness.
At first the sound of another's voice both started her and made her a little angry that someone was violating her request to be alone, but upon looking up to find Lancelot standing there she smiled. She wondered why her escort at the bottom of the hill had not said anything yet but realized that the tree he was standing next to must have shielded him from their view. "I thank you. There is nothing for me to forgive- you have caused no offense. Were you the one who left the wildflowers on my father's grave?" With her question to him, she reached down beside her and picked up a collection of wildflowers she had gathered and added them to his own.

"Morgana!....MORGANA!"
Unknown to Morgana, who was miraculously dead to the world, Arthur had been trying to call her name from outside her door. For quite some time now Morgana had unfortunately been having trouble sleeping due to nightmares, which she knew to be visions but was afraid to say anything, and often required the use of a sleeping draught prepared by Gaius. This night she had taken the draft and with it she was currently in an extremely deep sleep.
She was so asleep in fact she didn't hear him enter her room or approach her bed. "Morgaaaaaanaaaa..." It wasn't until a moment later when she heard an extrememly loud clatter against the floor that she awoke with a gasp and a definte panic look. Realizing that a person was standing on the one side of her bed Morgana quickly slid out of bed on the other side, wincing slightly as her cold feet hit the ground and grabbed her dagger from the table next to her bed. She was about to scream when the angle of moonlight coming in through the window showed her that it was Arthur. Once she realized that it was her foster brother the initial look of panic she had been wearing disappeared but a look of 'was it really important enough to wake me up' crossed her face instead. She set the dagger down and picked up her shawl from the hook next to her bed and wrapped it around her shoulders to warm her up. "Care to explain what the devil you are doing in my bedroom at such a late hour?"

(this thread is open to anyone that would like to accompany Morgana)
Quote: Son, brother, father, lover, friend. There is room in the heart for all the affections, as there is room in heaven for all the stars. ~Victor Hugo~
Morgana stood outside the door to Uther's private study as Uther's servant slipped inside the room to announce her. The servant opened the door to allow her into the room. "Morgana, what can I do for you?" The tone with which his words came out was of interest rather than annoyance. "Now that Spring has come to Camelot, I wish to visit my father's gravesite. With your permission perhaps myself and a couple of knights as escorts could go up?" Uther nodded and with a kiss to her cheek gave her his blessing.
The following day, Morgana and her companions mounted up then left the castle. Now that Spring had come, travelling to the cairn on the hill was less dangerous-the roads were clear, no icy patches and on top of that it was warm enough to kneel on the ground. The company rode at a fairly even pace and there was ample room for conversation but it seemed that everyone was keeping to themselves- well more like she was keeping to herself and those who rode with her were listening for any sounds of an ambush.
When they reached the hill, Morgana got down off the horse with only a small hand down from one of the nearby men. In her opinion it definately was easier getting down than getting on. Knowing that Morgana would wish for her personal space, the men remained with the horse while she headed the last little bit to her father's grave. The men who were there with her, could still see her and would be able to react in enough time if there was an ambush- besides Morgana wasn't completely defenceless as she did have her knife. Morgana knelt into the cool grass at the side of her father's grave and lowered her head/eyes towards the mound of grass. "Spring has once again returned to Camelot father and it is still as beautiful as ever..."

Although she had sat on the edge of her seat for the entire battle it wasn't because she was excited- in fact she was terrified. Terrified that something was going to go wrong and Arthur was going to end up dead. It was as if she didn't even have control of her body at this point as a strangled cry broke through her defenses. It was at the exact same moment as Dante's sword sliced into Arthur's arm.
She, and everyone else watched in horror as Arthur dropped his sword, fell to his knees and prepared himself for the blow that would cut off his head. Unless the fates intervened Morgana was going to watch her adopted brother be cut down to a headless body. She offered up the quickest prayer to whomever was up there listening.
Perhaps Arthur regained control of his surroundings or someone up there heard her request but all of a sudden Arthur managed to find his sword and run it through Dante's chest. A cheer erupted from the crowd as it was Dante's turn to collapse to the ground. Although Morgana had grown up around bloody men- her father fought alongside Uther afterall the sight of Dante's blood, bile and other stuff almost made her lose her stomach as well. Instead of looking at Dante she looked towards Arthur where some of his knights were already patching up his arm. She was grateful that he was still alive however she was going to make him understand one way or another that if he EVER did anything like that again she'd kill him herself.

As much as Morgana and Arthur didn't always get along, she certainly was worried about him. She knew that he had agreed to fight the same man who had slashed the back of his legs earlier in the year. That man had done quite a bit of damage and she was aware that the fight would be to the death. Gwen dressed her in a deep forest green dress. She wished she had the kind of magic that could keep him safe but she did not even know the full strength or kind of magic she possessed.
Morgana accompanied Uther down to the battleground but before taking her seat she excused herself as she wanted to wish Arthur good luck. As she approached his tent the guards that were standing outside of it cross their colour flags across the entrance to block her way in.
"What is the meaning of this?"
"Forgive us Lady Morgana, but Prince Arthur has expressly wished to be left alone to prepare."
"Is Merlin not even in there with him?"
"No m'lady. He is preparing himself and does not wish to be disturbed."
Left alone? Merlin not even in there with him? She would have barged in but knew that in the state he was probably in he would have her in the gaol for sure. Morgana could see that the guards were getting anxious as they were denying the Ward of the King admittance to the tent but in their defence it was at the Prince's express command. Rather than get them more anxious then they already were, she raised a hand in defeat.
"When Arthur is ready, please wish him the best of luck for me..."
Morgana turned and left the door of Arthur's tent and returned to her seat next to Uther. Arthur had better come out of this alive, or there would be hell to pay. She looked up into Uther's eyes for a moment then turned towards the field. When the two combatants- Dante and Arthur- came out to the field there was a resounding Hiss for Dante's presence and also a resounding cheer for the Prince's. During the entire battle Morgana was practically on the edge of her seat waiting for the blow that would bring the end of the battle.
