Here is where you can request to join the Guild. To do so, you simply must post a reply to this thread stating your name, your desire to join the Mages, which band/type you would like to train in and perform a small demonstration of your magic for Merlin (Or give an explanation if you cannot perform on demand!) He will respond telling you whether or not your application to join his Guild is accepted, instructions about what to do next can be found in the training information boards.
Information on types of magic can be found in the 'About Magic' thread. If you do not know which type you wish to be, state so in your application, and Merlin will allocate you a division in his reply.

Knock Knock Knock
Dreamer focused in on the sound of his fist connecting to the wooden door. He was trying to block out the passing commoners behind him. He could feel their eyes on him, analyzing and making assumptions. Dreamer didn't know what it was that attracted such attention from people. Was it what he was wearing? Or was it that he, a mere teenager, was knocking on the door of the Magicians guild.
Both conclusions were most likely correct.
He could feel sweat running down his forehead as he waited for the door to be answered. When no one came, he knocked three times more. He waited even longer, and knocked three times again. Moments after his third attempt, a man came to the door with a grimace on his face as he looked down at him.
"What do you want" he said in a dark voice, the smell of liquor tainting his breath. Dreamer was unafraid by the man, he was more concerned with the crowd behind him. "Ive come to enroll into the..." he was almost finished when the man stepped back and threw open the door. He pointed his finger to a door not far off and said, "Enrollment office is threw there".
Then he left
Dreamer stood there for a moment, considering letting his mouth run at the mans rude behavior. He decided against it though and walked inside, closing the door behind him. He turned and walked toward the door and opened it, silently. He peeked his head in and all he saw was an office, a large but simple office.
Unafraid by the appearance of his surroundings, Dreamer entered and shut the door behind him. He walked further into the room and looked around, searching for someone to see to his enrollment.

Merlin looked up from his desk in the center of the room as a young man entered. Muttering a hissed word under his breath, the lights in the room suddenly flared awake, illuminating the newcomer with a glow much brighter than the watery daylight that filtered through the dusty windows.
"Welcome to the Guild." Merlin began his usual greeting, sliding a sheet of parchment infront of him and picking up a quill, ready to note the applicant's replies. "I'll need your name, and a demonstration of your magic. Also, state if you know which band of magic you wish to train in. If not, I will sort you depending on your demonstration. Please begin..."
Merlin watched the boy intently, wondering if he would be special. The Guild was always on the lookout for young talent.

Dreamer turned as the room illuminated from an unknown source and was met by a face of a boy not much older than he himself. Dreamer was almost asked to push a question about the boy, but there was no time for that. He concluded, out of assumption, that the boy was another apprentice who worked in this particular department.
"Welcome to the Guild..I'll need your name, and a demonstration of your magic. Also, state if you know which band of magic you wish to train in. If not, I will sort you depending on your demonstration. Please begin..."
The words sounded as if he had repeated them over a thousand times over. Dreamer wondered if he had arrived at an unsuitable time for the boy, but it did not matter, he was there now. Dreamer bowed his head and approached the desk. "My birth name is Jasen Masters, but my given name is Dreamer and Ive become quiet attached to that." Dreamer watched as the boy pulled out a piece of paper and quill and began to write.
Dreamer couldn't finish, simply because he did not know what his abilities were and what he could do. "Um, i do not mean to be rude but i do not know to call what Ive done" he said. After a moment he figured he should state what it was that he did, "Our caravan was attacked by bandits once, many were injured, one of which was my partner Scarlet".
He paused to clear his throat before continuing, "Her foot had been snapped and she was put to bed, no one dared touch her, and when her fever began i did not know what to do, so i sang for her and the next morning she was dancing". Dreamer ended his story with, "It had all been a bit confusing". "If you wish though, i would still like to demonstrate, if only to brighten up what looks to be a dreary day.

Merlin listened thoughtfully as the boy spoke, putting down his quill and writing no more after the boy's name. He waited until Dreamer had finished, then spoke.
"Healing falls under the category of white magic." he wrote down the words 'white magic' as he spoke them, then continued, "And from your tale, it seems that at this stage your magic is only reachable when you are put under extreme stress or emotion. It's common with many people who have innate magic. Under these circumstances, I would not wish to press you into a demonstration!"
Merlin was unsure how close the subject of Scarlet and the first occasion of his magic was to Dreamer, but decided to test the waters... "Well, often, magic is triggered by strong emotions such as shock, anger... love. It can be hard to access magic when these things aren't present." Merlin paused thoughtfully; the boy had offered to demonstrate.
Snapping the quill he was writing with in half, Merlin explained: "A large part of white magic is healing that which is broken, be it physical, emotional, live or inanimate. Would you to try mending this quill for me?" He handed the feather in two parts across the desk to Dreamer.

Dreamer nodded as the boy spoke of White magic, which was apparently what Dreamer could do. He watched as he wrote it down and then looked back at him. When he said he wished not to press him for a demonstration, he nodded and waited for a form or some sort of documentation stating he was now a member.
If only it would be so easy
Then the boy began to look at him, and Dreamer could swear he saw the curiosity in his eyes. He snapped his quill and began putting a definition to white magic. When he was done, he presented Dreamer with a test. He must mend the quill that had been broken.
Dreamer took the two pieces of the quill in his hands and looked at them curiously. Then at the boy for conformation, when he nodded Dreamer went back to looking at the quills. He went over the night when he healed scarlet and began looking for what he had done. The only thing he did though was sing.
Singing?
That was the key, Dreamer remembered how he felt when he began to sing that night. The rush of power as some unknown force began to rush threw him, threw his words. Dreamer shook his head and figured it was his best shot. So he began to sing that song again, the song he sang to scarlet.
When he was finished, minutes later, he started down at the quill and waited. He waited for a whole minute before looking back up at the boy. "I don't understand.." he muttered to himself, thinking of what went wrong. He sang the song, but nothing happened. He sang the song that healed Scarlet's foot.
The foot, not the quill
Dreamer smacked himself in the head gently, a rush of acknowledgment coming to him. He had sung that sung to heal Scarlet's foot, not the quill. The types of healing must have been different. He searched his mind for another song he knew that could work for the quill, but found none.
"I'm sorry i cant remem..." Dreamer was handing the quill back when he stopped. What if he made a song? It could work, all he had to do was sing the words that were meant specifically for the quill. He figured it was another chance he had to take, and brought the quill back to himself. He cleared his throat and began to sing the first thing that came to him.
Although cracked and bent Your core is not spent Two parts of a thing That’s one part of a wing Broken and disposed I wish you reposed
Dreamer repeated it three times before he felt the magic rise up. It seemed to come from him and leave into the quill. He had his eyes closed as he concentrated on singing the song perfectly. When he opened his eyes he looked down to see a perfect quill in his hands. Dreamer grabbed it by the base and extended it to the boy.
"May i join?" he asked

Merlin watched with an open mouth as Dreamer began to sing. Although he understood that every magician was different and channeled their innate magic in varying ways, he had never seen anything like this boy before. Still, after the first attempt, the quill remained broken. Merlin continued to watch patiently, he knew that magic was an art, and works of art took time. At the second attempt, Merlin's eyes widened. The words Dreamer was singing this time were in relation to the quill, and after a few repetitions of the verse, Merlin could feel the presence of a magic other than his own in the room. The boy's eyes were closed, and so although he could not look for the tell-tale copper flash of those that used magic- the end results were proof enough... the quill was whole. Merlin was silent for a while, then moved his gaze from the quill back up to the boy's face. In response to his question, he took the newly repaired quill from the boy's hands and began scribbling down the final lines on the parchment, then stamping it with the wax seal of the Guild, an eye. "Welcome to the Guild Dreamer!" he said, handing over the rolled application to the boy with a smile. "I look forward to seeing how you progress in your training, you have such an unusual style of magic, it's unlike anything I've seen before!" _ _ _ _ _ OOC: After you have familiarised yourself with the information about the Guild, you may begin training as soon as you wish Dreamer

Dreamer watched as the boy signed the paper with the newly repaired quill. Then, stood up to hand the document to Dreamer, who happily accepted. Taking a pack off of his shoulder, he placed the document along side his other precious possession, his violin. After returning the document to his shoulder, he stared back at the boy.
The gears in his head started to work
He began to think about why the boy was actually in this office, and why he had the right to sign papers. Whenever he had seen papers signed, like traveling visas and such, it had been the boy's masters that did so. This boy on the other hand had written without a second thought. Dreamer wished he could roll the document back up and look at the name.
Instead, he was more forward.
"Who are you?" he asked curiously.

"Who am I?" Merlin repeated the question, looking up at the boy with such a puzzled expression that he may as well have been given a riddle. It wasn't that he thought the boy should know he was... he just didn't really know what to say.
"I'm Merlin."
A good a start as any.
"I'm Prince Arthur's servant, mainly... and I help run this Guild. You probably won't see me much until you come to the end of your training, although I'll be seeing how you come along. I'm looking forward to watching you improve Dreamer..."
He smiled at the boy, and as he stood up the lights in the room dimmed and extinguished. The daylight was dull in comparison.

"Merlin"
Dreamer repeated the name over again to himself. He smiled after a moment, "I enjoy your name, it fits you very well" he commented. Like Dreamer's given name, it seemed to fit him somehow. It was like looking in the mirror and wondering what your name should be, merlin was spot on.
He was leaving when he stopped at the door for a moment and then turned. He walked back to the desk and smiled at Merlin, "I'm sorry i almost forgot" he said, "I'm new to this city, do you know where i can find room and board? Maybe even somewhere i might earn some coin" he rubbed his stomach "I forgot to eat breakfast this morning at the caravan, i was too excited"

"Oh, thank you..." Merlin replied with a smile at the unexpected compliment, pleased. He believed that Dreamer would be a great addition to the guild, and his power to heal would probably affect a lot of lives for the better.
"A place to stay? Well there's the White Dragon Inn in the city, they have rooms for a range of prices... and the Ram is a tavern nearby, they're always looking for bar staff. If money's tight there are always smaller inns out in the slums, but you get what you pay for- they're a bit rough!"

"Thank you Merlin, i owe you one" Dreamer stated with a smiled. He kept his hand clenched to his stomach for a minute before turning around. He advanced to the door and was about to leave before turning and waving goodbye. With that, he shut the door behind him and left to take his next step into his new life in Camelot.
Opening and closing the door of the Magic guild, which he was a proud new member of, gave Dreamer a rush. He was apart of something great in the world. He would take part in future events and adventures that he could only have dreamed of days earlier.
Walking down the busy streets of Camelot, Dreamer didn't even care that people were whispering about him. Let them whisper, it was the best day in his life, no one was going to ruin that for him.

Selphia had come to the Enrolment office for the magician’s guild namely because her brother told her it was for the best. How that was the case Selphia did not know. But she did not that her brother would never steer her wrong. So at this moment, her brother’s reasons were beyond her understanding. Pale knuckles curled under as she knocked against the solid oak door before her. Her pale gaze lifted and looked to the intricate designed etched into the wood. Her left hand extended toward the door, tracing the thick braids and loops that were set upon the door before her. She smirked thinking to herself that she had seen such marking before, but not knowing just where that might have been. With a soft tilt of her head she took a step back. She would wait for the door to be answered. All the time wondering what it was she would say to those within.
~I have been sent to these lands to partake in a craft…~ no that sounded dull. ~I wish to learn magic~ No that sounded like a child wishing for a pony. Perhaps there was no question. Perhaps she would just be taken in by the look of her. She had often wondered why people looked at her and her brother as oddly as they had. An uncle along time ago, in fact a few days prior to their leaving that same uncle’s farm, said that there was something strange about the siblings to a friend. He had said more about Selphia but she could not explain as to how she knew, for the uncle never spoke it. Gleaming was not a task that one was proud of. She had not even told her brother of it.
A soft creak announced the patron within. A man appeared and looked rather disdainfully at Selphia. He looked tired and annoyed. His tone suggesting that he had been at this for a good part of his day. “What is it?â€
Selphia bowed her head, as well as curtsied to the man. She did not wish for the man to report that she held no manners and no proper etiquette. Her left hand rose to the edge of her hood and tugged it back in place. She did not wish for the man to judge her solely upon her looks, like most had. Her pale gaze looked up just under the edge of her hood. “I wish to speak with those in charge of the recruitment of ma….â€
The man growled and gestured for her to step forth. He was already closing the door, so Selphia quickly moved herself through the door and into the hall’s corridor. She would look down at the man as he turned to face her. “Through…â€
Selphia raised her hand and gestured to the door at the far side of the corridor. She would already be stepping pass the man as he turned and his dark weary gaze followed her. “Through that door?†Was all she said to him as she stepped toward the door. The man did little to stop her, nor to continue talking. He obviously wished for his bed more then ideal banter with a strange girl.
Selphia would knock upon the door and then slowly press her palm down upon the latch until it clicked and she was able to enter, and close the door behind her. She turned about to find a large room set before her.
“Hello?†Her soft tones raised so that whomever belonged to this office could hear her enter.

Merlin had fallen asleep at the desk with his face in a comfy pile of paperwork- recently he'd been finding it hard to juggle his duties as a servant to Arthur, helper to Gaius and patron of the Guild. The click of a lock and a woman's voice speaking in greeting roused him, and he looked up groggily, blinking to adjust to the light.
"Oh hello!" Merlin replied, his voice sounding gruffer than normal. Turning red, he cleared his throat, continuing in his normal tone: "Sorry about that! I'm Merlin. Are you here to enrol in the Guild? I'll need your name and which band of magic you wish to train in. I'll also need an explanation or demonstration of your magical ability?"
He pulled a piece of parchment towards him, ready to note down the key information as the girl spoke.

Her attention was drawn to the centre of the room and to the young man behind it. Selphia tilted her head to the side as she viewed this man, as he appeared to have fallen asleep. Though the young man appeared to look youthful in his appearance there was something about him that caused Selphia to shiver. Though it was not at all noticeable for she was wearing a long robe and made most certain that it covered every inch of her. The smell of magic that surrounded him was electrifying. The very air about her seemed to crackle with energy that she knew did not come from her. She was most certain to be in the right place and with the right teacher.
She stepped forth. The dim lighting in the room seemed to work more against it then aid her. With long dull coloured robes covering her from head to toe, she was well hidden beneath them, but it was the question of their shade. The dull robes, in a darkened room, her pale unnatural skin tones. She would appear to stand out more then not. She had not thought that she would have to reveal herself to those within the guild and to those within Camelot.
She straightened her back and planted her feet once she stood before Merlin as he called himself. Wishing to convey to him that she was able, strong and confident in order to become a guild member. Her gaze locked with his as she spoke clear. Making the right impression was what she was always told by her brother. Proper and noble one was always to appear even if they came from a small town or a hovel in the woods. It was one’s right in life.
“I am Selphia Aylsn Dek, Daughter of Calis and Karin Dek.†She started, she made sure that she did not give off airs that she was better then anyone, but she did not wish to be seen as one that was so easily lead with no mind of her own. A trait in these times that could get one into much trouble. But she felt she was even tempered, and held her tongue. As to what she wished to learn. That was hard to explain. Well not so much hard to explain, perhaps harder to understand.
Selphia’s appearance was one thing. But her ability was a bit unnerving. At least to people that did not know just what her abilities were. Galeon, her brother had found himself in many tussles due to teasing and name calling when they were children. But as they grew into adolescents the fights became more serious along with the accusations. Being called a demon, or a witch was not the best name to be branded with. Knowing things simply because she did was one thing. But blurting out peoples thoughts, and knowing things that she shouldn’t did not sit well with most people. Selphia could not explain it, nor did she understand it.
“Sir, I know not how to explain my abilities or even if I have any. I know that something lies beneath the surface. I wish to understand it and teach myself to control it.†She stated to Merlin, hoping she was making sense if anything. Her head bowed so that her chin touched her chest. While her slender digits curled about the edge of her hood and drew it back. Gently allowing it to settle about her narrow shoulders. Her head rolling back as her whitish blue gaze regarded Merlin. Her long locks were much of the same colouring of her hair though it was possibly a shade darker, almost ashen if one looked closely. Her skin tone was indeed pale, almost ghostly in its appearance. She was very pale without a doubt. “As you can see my appearance in unsettling. And I cannot fault people for thinking as they do. One day while rambling in the forest for herbs and wild mushrooms, the odd truffle and such. I was beset upon by a few folk from the town. Needless to say they were not the friendless sorts. I believe one of them threw a stone at me. I do not recall just what set me off, but before I knew it my body was alive with this strange feeling racing through me. The rock the one had thrown at me was suddenly hurled back at him. Striking him with such force that it knocked him out. The other felt the need to come to his friend’s aid, so he came at him. In a blur of emotion, a half fallen log to my side was plucked with ease from the ground and also thrown at this man as he came at him.â€
Selphia paused for a moment, the experience so vivid in her mind as she continued. “My brother had happened upon this sight just as it was unfolding. The look upon his face was not one of surprise but sadness. I have to this day wondered why that was.†She shook her head, trying to stay focused. It was at that moment that her thoughts slowly started to get away from her. Her left hand rose to her temple and pressed it. The headaches were present most of the time. She winced, closed her eyes tightly and uttered a few calming words in old Draoi. Her gaze would return to Merlin.
“If you know where it is these abilities fall I am your student. As to show you…. I can try and move something if you like.â€
