Chase basked in Legends admiration. It was true teleporting was a rare skill. In fact the only other person Chase knew who could teleport was Dreamer. He considered Legends words wondering if it might be wiser to walk. That way if they ever wanted to meet again Legend would know how to get there. After a moments deliberation Chase decided not to walk. He wasn't in the mood for a long trek out of the city and into the woods.
"Here" Chase said grabbing hold of Legend's shoulder "Trafnidiaeth" He muttered and suddenly the world vanished into darkness and both him and Legend reappeared in a clearing in the forest. Several trees with low hanging branches that made them easy for climbing. The clearing itself was filled with grasses and small shrubbery with a small pond in the middle.
"Well We're here" Chase said

Legend stumbled a few paces, still in deep awe. He looked around with his mouth hanging up slightly. He hurried shut it, but continued to stare around. The trees looked perfect for climbing, the grasses were not very long and the pond was in fact slightly beautiful. Legend had never seen anything so...wonderful. He turned to Chase his eyes sparkling; "It's a beautiful place," he told his fellow magician with a slight smile.

For once Chase's smile was genuine. Legend's words of praise meant a lot to him. So few people recognized his genius what with Merlin and Dreamer always in front of him. It felt good to finally get the recognition he deserved. Not to mention Legend's face was rather funny it was gaping so much. Chase was slightly surprised that Legend thought the place was so beautiful. He had never thought of it as beautiful it just happened to be the perfect place to train. Everything that could be useful was present, water, trees, small shrubbery, small rocks and boulders. It was convenient but Chase had never thought of it as beautiful. Sure he supposed it looked fine but Chase didn't care about how something looked what was more important was how useful it was. So in that sense he supposed it was beautiful.
"Thanks" Chase replied, "It is a rather nice place I suppose. Now how do you think we should start?"

While Legend had waited for Chase to reply to his comment, he had got to thinking. He had thought that now, perhaps, that he and Chase were friends. He hadn't really thought it possible minutes ago, but in someway Chase had changed. From being in a bad mood, from Legend not looking where he was going, to somewhat kind. Perhaps it was the fact that Legend himself was a magician as well as Chase, or maybe because they were both magician's in training, or maybe it was that Legend was training in White Magic. Even if it wasn't one of those reasons Legend didn't really care.
"It is a rather nice place I suppose. Now how do you think we should start?"
Legend thought for a brief moment before answering Chase's question, "First off, how does it work?" realizing he hadn't given much explanation to what he was talking about Legend added, "The spells I mean. What do you do?" It felt a little strange asking how to do magic, when he himself was a magician. But none the less, he had no clue what to do.

Chase listened to Legend's question wondering how to answer it. It was a good question. Chase realized that he didn't really think about how the cast the magic anymore. He just did it. After contemplating the question for a few minutes he answered by saying, "Well I think everyone controls their magic differently. For example when I cast spells I speak in a different language. However I do know of someone who says his spells in rhymes." Chase paused for a moment wondering how to move on. "As for the magic itself I personally force my order upon it and use it to change the world. I think I am unique though since I was told when I first joined the guild that most people join with their magic and work with it as if they were partners, or at least tried to understand it first. For whatever reason that didn't work for me." Chase knew his explanation wasn't very good and probably was more confusing than helpful but hopefully Legend would be satisfied and they could start the actual magic.

Chase's explanation was rather confusing, but after a moment's pause, Legend understood. He listened carefully as Chase tried to explain. He was intrigued by the fact that Chase used different languages, and thought perhaps all that studying of Latin in Avalon payed off. "You mean like this?" Legend asked flipping his hand toward a plant and saying, "Animo planeta." Not even a minute after Legend spoke those words the plant seemed to grow legs. Legend was smiling happily as the plant seemed nothing more the alive. He looked at Chase, waiting to hear what the other magician had to say.

Chase grinned impressed at Legend's quick uptake of magic. Not only that but Legend had managed to animate something which was what Chase himself wanted to do. It had long been Chase's goal to create a golem. Statues made of stone that were animated to do their creates bidding. Although they were much more complex than simple animations it was the first step.
"Wow that's amazing?" Chase said, "How did you do that? I've been wanting to learn how to animate stuff for awhile now?"

Legend smiled back at Chase, "It's rather easy once you get the hang of it," he said. "I said 'Animate Plant' in Latin." He, at that moment, happened to look at the plant he had animated. It seemed as though the plant was staring back at him, waiting for him to tell it to do something. Legend thought for a moment then decided to inanimate the plant, "Inanimus planeta The plant shank back a little then the root like legs plunged into the ground once more.

Chase considered what Legend had said. He found it interesting that apperantly Legend could understand what his spell said. When Chase spoke a spell he thought about wanted he wanted and the words came out. He did not know what they actually meant although he had gotten pretty good at guessing what it meant. He supposed it might be useful to know exactly what one was saying but on the other hand so many words had different meanings what if the spell went totally wrong? Chase's magic was most certainly not perfect but he almost always got close to what he wanted which made it easier to think up spells on the spur of the moment.
"That is interesting I wish I knew what it meant when I spoke. I guess this is what they meant when they said everyone's magic is different. What else can you do?" Chase wanted to test Legend and see just how much he could do. Perhaps if Chase saw what Legend did he would be able to do it easier himself.

Legend though back to the books he had read about white magic in Avalon. It was a long time ago, and he struggled to remember. After a few moments of thinking, Legend replied, but after picking up a sharp stick from the ground and cutting himself, "Sano." The cut vanished to a mere scar. Legend looked up at Chase, quite eager to see his response.

Chase smiled as Legend cut himself with a stick. Not because Chase enjoyed the sight of blood, in fact he hated it, but it showed that Legend was tough enough to bear it and work through the pain. Chase could not stand how squimesh some people were. Made it almost impossible to get anything done. No pain no gain.
"Not bad." Chase said in reply to Legend's inquiring look, "Personally though I think that in a fight its more useful to have an attack spell than a healing spell. Maybe that is why my first white magic spell was this." Pausing for a moment to compose himself Chase pointed at a nearby bush and chanted "Golau llosg" A bright ray of light shot from Chase's hand and burned black marks into the bush.
Chase watched Legend eager to see how he reacted.

Legend smiled, "Impressive." he paused, "But can you do this?" He flicked his hand, his eyes flashed golden as he spoke, "Animo aqua." The pond grew still for a moment and then little fish made of water leaped high out of the, now rippling, pond. Legend grinned and he decided to try something, "Celeritas." Legend began to walk around, but by slowing time it appeared that he was running, and fast. "Potestas sursum." Like he had read once, the saying of that spell would up one's power. And that was true, as soon as Legend spoke his eyes flashed and then it seemed as though everything was clearer. The sound of the leaping water fish, the breeze rustling the leaves of the trees. The words that no one could understand that came from the wind. The slashes the fish made. Everything was clearer. He grinned at Chase, he was standing in one spot again. "So, what do you think?" He couldn't help himself, he looked at the plant that Chase had blasted and thought, perhaps, "Sano." The plant crafted itself, back to normal. Alright, not back to n0rmal, but close...not really. It looked more like a blob then a plant. Despite the failure Legend grinned, and couldn't help the soft chuckle that escaped him. Legend could care less about a failure, it didn't matter to him. Because he knew that with every failure he became better. He would just keep practicing until he got better. Still grinning he looked at Chase, eager.

Chase grinned as Legend challenged him to beat him. This was going to be fun. Watching Legends moves Chase wondered how to effectively counter all of them. He decided to do it by focusing on animation. While trying to learn a little bit of everything like Legend was doing could be useful it would be more useful it wasn't very useful in battle. Learning one thing well enough to have a practical purpose in a battle was infinitely more useful.
The second Legend finished Chase spoke up saying, "Well not bad for someone as new to magic as you are, but you've got a long way to go before you understand the true depths of magic's power."
Chase decided to start by destroying the plant Legend had attempted to heal. "Symud i farw" He muttered channelling his energy into the blob that had once been a plant. It was a slightly more complex spell than simply animating the plant since he had also given it a task, to pull itself apart. After a few seconds of agonizing waiting the blob started to move and the remaining branches it had started to pull it apart till finally it broke with a sharp crack.
Chase was pleasantly surprised. Normally his spells didn't work on the first try. Perhaps watching Legend doing it had actually helped. Still Chase wasn't about to admit that to him. Letting Legend think that Chase normally got spells right on the first try would only increase his respect for Chase.
Next Chase turned his mind to the thorny issue of how to deal with Legends slowing time. After a few second of deliberation he decided it would be more effective to simply hamper Legends movement than to find some way of reversing the actual spell.
"Dillad roi'r gorau iddo" Chase chanted directing the spell at Legend's clothes. He prayed that this spell worked as well because if it didn't then things could get quite awkward. The spell animated the clothes to push against any force directed at them. So if Legend tried to walk forward they would try to push him back probably tripping him. Chase breathed a sigh of relief as the spell started working.
Examining the water fish jumping in and out of the pond Chase wondered how to animate water. Unlike his previous animations water not only was not alive but it did not even have a shape. Did he simply cast the spell in on a certain part of the water and only that part would become animated, or did the water in the spell change every time it came in and out of the pond and it was simply the spell itself that was moving dragging water along behind it?
After mulling the options over in his head Chase realized that it didn't really matter. So long as the spell worked. Which considering Chase's talent and the fact that he had just seen a similar spell caste on the water it should be easy. "Brathu dŵr neidr" A few seconds after the spell was caste a watery snake rose out of the pond and swallowed Legend's fish whole.
After spending a minute thinking about it Chase decided that there was no realistic way to stop Legend's supersenses with animation and decided to let Legend have that one. "So" He said, "I think I got the hang of it. That was fun thanks for helping me train. What do you want to do next?"

When he had been running, by slowing time, Legend heard Chase say something and then he felt something pushing against him. Before he knew what was going on he fell backwards onto the ground. He picked himself up almost instantly. He watched, after he had tripped on Chase's counter spell, Chase as he performed a few spells. He was impressed. Chase was good, and Legend respected him, not only because he was more experienced then himself but because to him Chase was a friend. The snake was what caught Legend's attention. It was that, that reminded Legend of something he had read in his home town. He had learned about a spell that could create three small, about the size of rabbits, water dragons. Despite the fact that Chase seemed to understand Legend wanted badly to test out the spell. In his curiosity he had memorized the spell to try later on, and now he was about to try it. "I want to try something before we stop," Legend told Chase, his eyes fixated on the water. "Animo aqua draco" The water bubbled for a few moments then the first dragon stuck it's head out. Shortly followed by the other two. Legend felt himself fill with joy, the spell he had been waiting to cast had worked, and, to his surprise, the first time.
