Chase flew just barely dodging several stalactites and stalagmites that were in his path. He could hear the drip of water from all around him. Well at least that was good. He had all the elements he would need if there was a fight. He got hit by two more traps as they continued on. How interesting that the mage hadn't made all of his traps land based but put some in the air as well. He glanced behind him and noticed Dreamer following him apperantly too scared of the traps to move ahead. Chase wondered wether Dreamers choice would even prove beneficial. After all there had to be some traps that were activated on land and not air.
Chase's musings were cut short as he entered another chamber. His light barely iluminated the enterence. In fact the darkness itself seemed to press upon it. "Hmm what do we have here?" He wondered.

Dreamer felt the rebounding energies that scrapped off of Chase, and he knew there was nothing to worry about, even chase could handle such low level spells. Dreamer smiled as they descended a bit further, the mage was testing them. The mage knew they were also magic users, he was just testing to see what caliber of magic they used.
Of course, thats not all he was testing
Chase passed a trap, not looking back, and Dreamer heard the soft click off the walls. Dreamer didn't even blink, he dropped to all fours as wooden stakes shot out from both ends of the walls and tried to impale him. One scrached him, a minor wound compared to the alternative. Without thinking, Dreamer jumped from the crouched position and launched himself forward.
He hand not known the other stakes would tried to impale him from the floor, he was just that lucky. Dreamer picked himself up from the floor and walked alongside Chase into the dark room. They were standing shoulder to shoulder now, facing the darkness.
Dreamer could feel it
He could feel Him
Chase's light wasn't as effected as Dreamer's, dimming slightly as it was pushed harder. Chases light was the result of an element fire, Dreamers light was just that, pure light. Dreamer felt the presence of the mage before he spoke.
"Soooooooooo" the voice rang low, ringing throughout the cavern. Dreamer could feel the mage watching them. A low chuckle came from the lips of the mage before he said, "A mage of the elements, following a Mage of the....Light?" there was a pause there, as if the Mage was unsure. "So much power for two who are so young, how...delicious".
It sent shivers down Dreamer's spin as he listened to the mage speak.
"So Grey Mage, i will address you, since it seems you lead the duo, or is it the other way around? No, power leads those less powerful, and the one of the elements has yet to catch up...".
Dreamer knew that one was going to hurt chase, maybe that's what the mage wanted?
"Why do you Dwell here grey one? Why do you destroy what i have built?"

Chase was furious. How dare the pathetic little mage calll him weak. True his magic wasn't quite as suited to fighting darkness as Dreamer's was but he was not any weaker then Dreamer. He would prove to this stuffed up mage just how strong he was.
Chase prepared his magic So the man thought he could hide in the darkness. Chase would prove that you can't hide from the wind "Ambar herven" He declared. A wind started blowing through the chamber. Through it he could sense the general area of where things where. He might not have been able to tell where the mage was but if the mage moved Chase would know.
"Weak Am I?" Chase questioned "Well what are you going to do now? You cannot stop the wind." Now all he needed was for the mage to do a sudden movement that he would be able to sense. True Chase's defences were not that good against his enemy but the reverse was true as well. How could darkness stop wind which had neither light nor dark in it.
Chase gathered his magic preparing for whatever happened next.

Dreamer heard Chase cast his spell, although almost barely. He hoped that the other mage had not heard. He did what he could and tried to keep his attention on him. "You've harmed alot of innocent people, that doesn't go unnoticed" he said, "You must be stopped"
The mage laughed again,"Innocent!" he said, amused, "No one is innocent young one, we all have our monster's some of us can just hide them better" he said, , "...or not, it seems in my case".
Dreamer tilted his head, he tried to look threw the shadows, but could see nothing. Dreamer had to think of a question fast, so he dwelled within his curiosity.
"Why do you call me Grey Mage?"
Dreamer could feel the smile spread across his face
"You'll see"

Chase listened to the conversation between the mage and Dreamer. Chase couldn't help but admit that he agreed with the mages point of view. After all it was certainly true that everyone had a monster beneath and that some were just better at hiding it than others. It was one of the things he loathed about Dreamer. Dreamer had an image as a nice person but in reality everyone was the same. It infuriated Chase how people were given titles like "Good" and "Evil" After all such titles didn't exist. They were simply products of whoever had power. Which was another reason Chase wouldn't rest until he was the strongest mage in the land.
Chase stopped thinking about it when his spell finally sensed movement. There to his and Dreamers left there was a slight alcove in the side of the cavern in which the dark mage was standing. Now he would be able to counter-attack.
"Ure thoron runya" He murmured releasing the energy necessary to caste the spell. A large fireball that looked vaguely like an eagle flew towards the alcove where the dark mage was hiding. The mage blocked it at the last minute and the darkness returned but now Chase and Dreamer knew where he was. This would be fun.

"There he is" Dreamer said as Dreamer watched as Chase's flame ran threw the darkness before finally being consumed by the darkness. Dreamer saw the mage twist to the side, so Dreamer took his chance to get an attack in. Taking one of his knives, Dreamer placed a simple spell on it.
"Light the way..."
Dreamer threw the dagger to the right of the mage, becoming comsumed by the darkness. In enough time to reach the Mage, the dagger bursted with light, pushing back the darkness enough for Dreamer to cast another spell.
"..Time Delay.."
Time seemed to slow down as Dreamer charged threw the path the light had created in the darkness. Striking with another blade Dreamer sang his last notes, ending the spell.
"To destroy the monster this day"
Dreamer expected to meet some force,Instead, he was caught off balance as the blade passed threw the mage, and he disintegrated into thin air. Darkness curled in a ball above him as Dreamer's spell ended and he caught himself on the ground by bracing himself with his arm and coming out in a roll. Turning, Dreamer put himself against the wall, now that he was being surrounded by darkness.
"Crap" he thought
Dreamer heard tch tch tch in front of him, coming from the darkness.
(It would be Chase's Right)

Chase watched as Dreamers attempt to hurt the mage failed. Dreamer had been far to direct and hadn't examined the world around him Chase realized. Chase had only noticed it because he had been watching Dreamer and the black mage when it happened. The whole room had what Chase could only describe as blinked. One second the mage was standing in one place and the next he was two feet to the left. It wasn't till after Dreamer had gone through the mage did Chase realize what had happened.
Luckily for Chase whatever spell had been caste on them only affected his vision. His previous wind spell was still in affect so he could tell the general area of the black mage. He slowly walked towards both Dreamer and where the black mage stood. "Tch tch" Chase told Dreamer just as much to distract the black mage as to actually chide Dreamer. "If your so strong how come you didn't notice that he had cast an illusion? So pathetic. What use is your light magic if you can't even stop a simply illusion?"He walked up to Dreamer and leaned down and whispered, "He is around ten feet behind me." Now ideally Dreamer would finally get a hit on the mage and then Chase would be able to finish him off. Chase had to admit that his magic was not very useful at direct attacks against a dark practitioner.

Dreamer clenched his hands into fists, turning his knuckles white. Now was not the time for Chase to be scolding him, the boy was really upsetting him. Dreamer had thoughts of taking out chase first, but that would be foolish, he had to take care of the Black Mage they were sent their to deal with.
Right?
The fact that he was questioning his mission startled Dreamer, of course he had to carry it out. The thoughts didn't stop there though. The world seemed to grow darker as Dreamer started to question going after the mage, and instead, killing Chase. His rival, the boy who was to self centered to realize his own weakness in contrast to Dreamer. The thoughts clouded his mind and began to set him into a boiling rage. The last time Dreamer was that mad, he had crushed Chase's magic without even uttering a single spell, he had simply overwhelmed him.
He would have done the same thing now too, had Chase not spoken to him quietly,"He is around ten feet behind me." Dreamer snapped out of his blind rage for a moment to notice the Darkness begin to overwhelm them, surrounding them, specifically him. Dreamer turned his rage around, he was mad at chase, but not as much as he was the mage. The mage had been influencing his emotions and turning him against Chase, an intelligent move, but one that would be used against him.
"You want to see some Damn Light!" Dreamer screamed at Chase, playing off his rage. Dreamer brought his fist up and pointed it at Chase as he screamed his spell,
"Ill Give you Light! Let it Shine Bright..."
Dreamer slammed his fist against the wall, and as he did, he used all of his rage that had been boiling inside to fuel his spell. Which burst as a bright light as his fist came in contact with the wall. In a flash, literally, The light had spread out and overwhelmed the darkness, vanquishing it until it was all gone.
And the Mage was left standing, both really surprised and really pissed off. He glared daggers at the two of them.

Chase watched as Dreamer snapped. He had never seen Dreamer so mad before. For a couple of seconds he had been unsure whether Dreamer would attack him or the black mage. Luckily Dreamer appeared to see sense and controlled himself enough to let out a giant light that blew away the darkness.
Chase was impressed. The dark mage's spells had been totally blown away including the illusions he had caste. The sheer force of Dreamer's spell had overcome them all. Dreamer was incredibly powerful. Chase had to admit that at his present strength he probably couldn't have used that much power and still been standing afterwards.
Chase decided to attack the black mage while he still had the shock of Dreamer's spell on his side. "Alu gurtha en rist tumba rond ar linnod" Chase chanted expanding most of his reserves of magic. The water and air in the room all started stirring turning into a massive whirlwind around the mage while the water attempted to choke him. Chase was quite happy at the results. He had purposly used more magic than was strictly necessary to show Dreamer that he wasn't the only one who had grown and gained more techniques.

Dreamer wouldn't feel the drain, he refused too, his willpower was forcing his body to look beyond any weakness threw a wall of rage induced adrenaline.Everything was sharper, sight, sound, and especially his anger. Dreamer glared right back at the Mage as he began drowning from chases spell. Slowly, his life was fading, but he kept glaring at the both of them.
Dreamer was mad, but he was also decent. The mission wasn't to torture the mage, just deal with him, either by taking him into custody or killing him. Slowly drowning him didn't feel right, but neither did just letting him rot in a jail, Dreamer made a quick decision.
"Arrow above, Strike this black dove"
Dreamer let out the words and the spell took form. It was the first offensive spell he had performed and mastered. Arrows made of light formed, as if out of nowhere, and descended upon the victim. They struck true, sticking him a dozen times from top to bottom. Soon Chase's miniature hurricane began to darken as blood stained it into a dark red. With the arrows disappearing, the body became hidden behind the bloody hurricane.

Chase exhilarated in the power he felt as he slowly crushed the black mage to death. He loved showing people just how weak they were. This mage might be glaring at them for all he was worth but it didn't change the fact that he was about to get killed by Chase.
That was until Dreamer decided he wanted the credit for the kill and finished off the mage himself. Chase was furious. Finally things were going his way and Dreamer had decided ruin it. That spotlight hugging idiot. Chase swore to himself that he would get his revenge for the insult.
"How dare you!" Chase shouted "He was my kill! I was the only one who managed a hit on him." Chase stormed for the cave entrance attempting to escape yet another defeat to Dreamer. He had let down his guard at the end and it had cost him his victory.

...He was my kill...
That's all he heard, that was all he really cared about really. Dreamer knew Chase was petty, self centered, and cared only about his own success. Those words stuck a new meaning though, they meant something else. They meant he neither feared nor cared if he killed another living person. "Just like me" Dreamer thought, not even knowing what it meant before he thought it. Dreamer clenched his head, shaking it, he didn't feel alright, the adrenaline was going away.
Dreamer raised his hand though, he may not have adrenaline, but he still had his anger. Raising his hand, he pointed it at Chase, trying to focus his magic before he casted a spell. Too late, a sharp pain ripped threw him and dreamer was sent to the ground. He fell, catching himself with on hand against the wall and landed on his knee. His breathing started to become hoarse and he started to realize just how weak he really was.
The drain...it was too much.
Dreamer was tapped out, he had thrown some pretty major magic around throughout the mission. Especially his last two, they had taken a significant tole on him. Dreamer was just barely able to get his words about to Chase, "You Bastard!" he shouted, "Is that what you think this is? A game? You selfish piece of trash! Men Died tonight, and you feel Nothing?"
It was almost as if Dreamer fought to keep himself up, hanging on to his last bit of energy and emotion. Dreamer felt something wet against his leg before he realized what it must have been. Without Chase's control, the spell must have stopped and that meant two things. It was blood that was staining his pants, and there was a dead man ten feet away from him.

Chase couldn't believe Dreamer's words. He was lecturing Chase about killing right after he had killed the mage. Which it looked like the amount of energy Dreamer had used was finally catching up to him. He looked ready to collapse. How foolish to use another spell on top of the one he had used earlier. He could have just let Chase's spell do it but had been foolish enough to try to show off.
Chase answered Dreamer's idiotic accusations. "You are lecturing me? This is right after you go out of your way and exhaust yourself to kill someone I was about to kill? Anyway of course I feel some pity for them but it was our job to kill the men here and you did it too. So don't lecture me with your double standards."

Dreamer made an attempt at catching his breath as Chase spoke, but his effort was for nothing. He couldn't do it, he had used to much magic, and his body was feeling the effects. He gave himself a minute, maybe a bit more, until he would black out. Already he could see spots at the end of his vision. "crap" he thought, "When did my luck take a nosedive south?".
"If you have to kill a man chase, kill him" he said, "Don't stand there and enjoy it". The words were much more difficult to get out. "That's what seperates us from them chase, were not the monsters".

Chase could tell Dreamer was about to collapse. His breathing was laboured. Yet he still managed to try to lecture Chase on his habits. How annoying. Didn't Dreamer realize just how precarious his position was. Chase could kill him and nobody would know. Chase suddenly realized that he could actually kill Dreamer. It would end the pathetic mage's life and Dreamer would finally stop trying to prove how much better than Chase he was. All it would take was one little spell.
Chase dismissed this thought before it went anywhere. There would be no pleasure in killing someone so weak. He would wait until they could have a proper battle to kill Dreamer. He started leaving answering Dreamer on the way, "Who said I enjoy it as I said it was our job. Anyway the black mage was right about one thing. Everyone is a monster. Even you. And I will look forward to the day you realize that and see that your entire life was a lie."
Chase left the dark cavern into the sunlight. However the warmth on his skin gave him no joy. He needed more power. He hadn't been able to take out the black mage without Dreamer's help and had even been beaten to the kill by Dreamer. He prove to everyone the he Chase Caldera was second to no one. With that in mind Chase murmured "De" and flew off back to Camelot leaving Dreamer to fend for himself.
