Chase entered the woods. This time however he wasn't training or exploring. In fact he wasn't even sure what he was doing here. All he knew was that Merlin had told him to come out to a clearing not that far into the woods and someone would meet him there and explain what they were going to do. Merlin had also said something else about the importance of learning to work with people and seeing past their difference but Chase had been to excited by the knowledge that his power was finally being recognised to listen to what Merlin had said.
When Chase arrived at the clearing he had been told about it was empty. Apparently whoever he was supposed to be meeting had not arrived yet. As Chase was waiting he started wondering what he was going to do there. Perhaps the stubborn older mages had finally realized his potential and had decided to allow him to take his mages test? Chase toyed with the possibility for awhile before dismissing it. There was no way the senior mages would allow him to progress that fast. Maybe Merlin had arranged for Chase to be trained by some incredibly powerful mage. That would make sense Chase got the feeling Merlin liked him.
Chase relaxed back into the grass waiting for his mysterious contact to show up.

Dreamer waited on the edges of the clearing, watching from the top of a tree. Hidden from view, the branches and leaves provided both a perfect cover and a perfect view of the clearing. Dreamer had been given the information to today's mission beforehand, and had already been paid for it too. The mission was originally assigned to Dreamer alone. Yet a suggestion had been made, randomly of course, by one the Elder mages in the guild that Dreamer should take another rising star in the guild. The mage's took a vote, and having already knowing who the "rising star" was, Dreamer had opted to vote against it.
He lost
Merlin had reassured him afterword, telling him it was a good thing. He would need try and bond with the boy, guide him, it was apart of a Mage's duty to guide any of the pupils. Dreamer had a feeling that it was Merlin who had randomly suggested they partner up for the quest. Shaking his head, Dreamer had later went threw the market and bought the necessary equipment he would need for the quest.
Looking down, Dreamer adjusted his new equipment on his person. He had a belt that fit him better than his last one, with two more dagger slots behind him, as well as the one on his side, with pouches around it. He kept newly sharpened blades in each one, and some other miscellaneous items he might need in the pouches. He also had an arm scabbard for two thin blades on his right arm. He didn't know if he could use them yet, but he thought they looked pretty cool. Especially with the sleeveless shirt he had on now, it was awesome.
Sighing, Dreamer saw Chase start walking into the clearing. Dreamer watched the boy for a moment before he dropped from his post on the tree and began to walk toward the boy.

Chase was relaxing imagining just who the mysterious contact was when someone dropped out of a tree at the edge of the clearing. Chase's good mood ended. He took a double take and then a third "What are you doing here!" He said in a cold dark tone. for there in front of him stood Dreamer. the idiotic man who thought he was better than Chase.
Chase stood up not bothering to hide his expressions of hatred and loathing. It was then that the realization hit him like a thunderbolt. Could it be that this was the man he was supposed to meet? Merlin had told him to meet Dreamer! That explained why Merlin had given him that speech about learning to understand people. Chase was not amused at the trick Merlin and the senior mages had pulled over him. How dare they! One way or another he would get back at them.
For now though it looked like he would have to work with the idiot that everyone compared him to, Dreamer. Chase waited for Dreamer to explain for why they were here. After all this was the perfect opportunity to show just how much stronger than Dreamer he had gotten.

"What are you doing here!"
Dreamer shook his head and sighed as he walked toward the boy, rubbing his temples. He was going to have to try really hard not to blow the kid up, which was probably one of the lessons Merlin wanted him to learn. Pushing his hair back, Dreamer brought out a cord of string and tied his hair behind his head, so it would stay out of the way. By the time Dreamer tied his hair back, he was standing at a comfortable distance in front of Chase.
"Today..." he said, "You will accompany me on a mission. The guild will receive these from time to time, either by name or assigned by the council. I have been asked to deal with this problem, and you have been assigned to assist. After this mock test, you may or may not receive your own missions depending on my report on your progress. I believe if we can get along, it will be beneficial to you...no?" Dreamer said with an even tone.
Dreamer didn't care at the moment, not about chase and his attitude, or the fact that he was a particular annoyance. Dreamer still remembered their last encounter, and how he had left the boy in pain on the floor. It was a haunting memory, a taste of what could happen if he ever lost control again.
He would not lose control
...Or at least, he'd try not to

Chase was stunned at Dreamer's believe in himself.. Did Dreamer really think Chase cared about what Dreamer wrote about him. Dreamer couldn't hurt him. Not only that but he was supposed to assist Dreamer in this so called task. Dreamer hadn't even told him what it was yet and yet he expected Chase to be his personal little servant. Chase didn't remember Merlin saying that he was supposed to work under anyone.
"Oh sure it will be beneficial... To you! We both know that you are scared of my fast rise through the ranks. I am only one rank below you at the moment. Your time as the prodigy of the guild is over. I refuse to do all the work only to have you write in the report that you did nothing. What is this stupid mission anyway and why should I care if I am unable to do more." As Chase spoke his voice ranged from sarcasm to anger. He would not be overshadowed by this pretender. He added one last comment just to anger Dreamer "And you really should fix that hideous hair of yours. The braid makes you look like a girl."

Dreamer simply stared at Chase and listened as he vented his anger out on him. Dreamer waited, and waited, until the boy made a last comment on how he looked like a female. Even after the boy was done Dreamer still stood there, arms folded across his chest, and waited. Finally, Dreamer broke the silence with "Done?". He gave Chase a second before saying, "Good, now if your done acting like a spoiled child we can actually get to the task at hand".
Dreamer turned around and began to walk to the edge of the clearing. Knowing Chase would follow, he had to, Dreamer said, "We are to deal with a band of organized creature's believed to be led by a night terror, at least that's what the only survivor of the last two bands of knights that already came to deal with the problem, its highly likely that they are actually being led by a mage of sorts, monster or human unknown.". Dreamer sounded calculated from experience. He had gone threw a few missions himself, only one used for his own advancement, and he had lost men during a few.
He didn't want to lose anyone this time. Even if it was Chase.

Well apparently his insults hadn't had any effect as Dreamer sat there unperturbed. Chase took control of his emotions smothering his anger reducing it to a cool cold hate. He would not lose this battle. Now what had hurt Dreamer the most last time? If Chase recalled correctly it was the insults concerning him not deserving his position that had driven Dreamer over the edge. Chase filed that information to the back of his mind to use later.
He started following Dreamer as he explained what they were going to do. It sounded interesting. Chase couldn't wait to take on an enemy mage. It would be a nice chance to test all of his techniques against another mage. He would have tested them on Dreamer by now but, regrettably, wizard duels were forbidden. Still if he got Dreamer mad enough Dreamer might attack him allowing Chase full reign to fight back.
"So remind me again why do you have to come and watch me kill an enemy mage? Oh wait is it because while you may have fooled Merlin into allowing you in, the senior mages recognise that you are nothing but a parasite that somehow crept into the guild? Ah well I suppose they had to stick you with somebody they could trust." Chase spoke this with almost an obscene amount of politeness in his voice. He still had the upper hand in this clash of wills.

Dreamer kept on walking as if he didnt notice, Although he did sigh. He had been sighing alot, which was wierd, could it be the short prick behind him? possible, he would have to test his theory sometime, an answer to that question might actually save a life. Really, it could happen.
"Funny" Dreamer said, "Cause my sources tell me the council thinks just as much of you as they do me, a parasite that crept into the higher ranks of the guild". Two points for Dreamer, he didn't even turn around as he continued to lead Chase pass the clearing and further into the heart of the forest.

Chase laughed openly at Dreamers attempts to get back at him. Was Dreamer really that big of an idiot? "First" Chase answered almost laughing. " I do have quite a few allies in the council. A couple of gifts and they decided maybe I wasn't so bad after all. Second why in the world would I care about what the council thinks of me? I am far to well connected for them to dare to anything against me. They may technically be out of the nobles control but that doesn't mean the nobles don't have any influence. You however are a different story. They would probably be praised if they kicked you out. You have made many enemies but few friends. Chances are they are just waiting for you to slip up and give them an excuse to get ride of you. Maybe that's what this mission is really for?"
As Chase continued walking along the path he realised that what he had said might even be true. At the very least a slip by either of them might end up in injury or death for the them. Which would be welcomed by some of the darker members of the council. After all at the very least an injury could keep both of them out of the councils hair for days. Well if there was a slip made it wouldn't be by him.

That's it, the kid did it, Dreamer was starting to grow pissed. It was a wonder how Chase managed to do it yet again, but he had shattered Dreamer's cheery personality and forced him into a mood that could kill. Quiet literally kill, as Chase almost found out last time. How many words would it take to Finally shut the child up? Dreamer didn't know how many he would need, but he had a rough estimate of how many he would use.
Stopping, Dreamer clenched his fists and then released them, trying to calm down. Trying to stay calm, really trying, he turned around and began to speak. "I don't know what makes you think that just because you were able to buy your "Friends" that i should feel some sort of awe and wonder, but if you think i'm going to bow down to a child like you, you have another thing coming". Crap, Dreamer thought as he tried to breath steadily, he thought he felt a spark of magic begin to pour out of him, but he caught it.
So he continued, not the smartest thing he did, but it was what he did anyway. "..And i'm fully aware of who my friends are and the amount of enemies Ive acquired. Why else do you believe Ive been on so many mission's to deal with the monster's that threaten Camelot? They wait in their plush chairs, hoping i shall fall, and yet i keep coming back".
"So you see, what makes you think i give a rat's ass what the council thinks, unlike you who buys his allies and hides behind the protection of Camelot's walls, i face the world head on, i don't need my father's money to make things happen, unlike some other child that stands before me".
Biting his lip and closing his hands into a fist again, Dreamer said, "So if were done know, play time is over little one, i think its time we turn back to the mission at hand, or have you forgotten?". Dreamer, again, turned around and began walking farther into the forest. His pace was noticeably quicker this time.

Chase smirked as he felt a small bit of Dreamers magic floating around. He lost the smirk when Dreamer mentioned his father. Chase would get revenge for that. He decided to ignore the slight so they could focus on finding the stupid target and end this increasingly annoying mission.
"How much farther is this stupid target anyways?" Chase asked. Before waiting for the response Chase murmured "De" and slowly drifted off the ground. Thanks to the fact that the shoes were enchanted he barely needed any energy to activate the spell. Now he was ready for anything.

Dreamer turned his head as he heard Chase say, "De" behind him. He saw the boy floating in the air a few feet above him. Dreamer turned his head and kept on walking into the forest, the boy was only making problems for himself. He would have to maneuver around the trees the farther they got in the forest.
"The soldier couldn't determine how far he had run, so it could be between a few yards to a few miles" he said. He didn't bother telling him to be ready, the boy would only criticize him.

Chase flew through the woods easily avoiding the low hanging branches. So long as he didn't fly up to the tree branches level he was fine. How annoying though that Dreamer didn't even know how far they would have to go. Just like him though to leave without learning all the information. Chase disliked not having all the information.
"Do we have any idea of the number of enemies we're facing? their powers?" Chase's dislike of not having information overcame his dislike of asking Dreamer anything. Hopefully they would find the monsters soon.

Dreamer suppressed the urge to hit chase with something, keeping the violent thoughts to himself. His mind would eventually wander from gathering stone to chuck at his inflated head, to blowing him up, nothing was kept from the table. The boy obviously had a difficult time listening to anything but the sound of his own voice, had Dreamer not told him all he already knew?
Instead of blowing him up, Dreamer spoke to Chase,"Expect a mage with darkness based powers with at least a dozen or so minions, maybe more". Dreamer kept it short and sweet, it would be easier for chase to understand if he didn't use too many words.

Chase couldn't believe Dreamer's words. He really thought he was so superior that he could talk to Chase in a baby voice. Chase brought his anger under control and hid it behind his polite face. Now what could he use against Dreamer as revenge? Chase was mulling over what Dreamer would be most likely to care about. The answer came to him in a flash of brilliance. Dreamers girlfriend. He didn't know much about her but Dreamer didn't seem to be the type of perso to stand by while someone insulted his girlfriend.
"So." Chase drawled "From what I hear despite the fact that you have no true friends some girl managed to pick you up. Well I suppose beggars can't be choosers can they Dreamer." Chase was going to add more but before he could a sudden movement out of the corner of his eye. He turned to look and caught a glimpse of a black figure to his left. Chase prepared himself for an attack not only from the black figure but from Dreamer as well.
