When Arthur saw nothing, he twisted in his saddle to call the rest of the Knights forwards. There was no danger here, it was probably just his overactive senses playing up again.
The first of the knights had barely reached his side, when a spray of blood covered Arthur's arm and face. The kill was so sudden and unexpected it shocked Arthur to the core. He couldn't move or speak, to warn the others of what had happened and within seconds another arrow came flying from nowhere and hit the next Knights horse in the flank. It reared up in fright and toppled right over, pinning the rider underneath and condemning him to certain death.
Arthur was used to fights where he knew what was coming, not ambushes like this one, where he couldnt even see his enemy let alone think of ways to stop him and that was the reason he froze. Still, the second kill broke Arthur from his trance and he managed to call out "AMBUSH!" Half expecting his knights to turn back, he was surprised to see them dismounting just behind him, heading for the other side of the hill. Arthur dismounted too, his feet unsteady on the solid ground.
The lifeless body of Sir Danyl lay still bleeding on the dusty road. Arthur shuddered as he saw the damage the arrow had caused to his body, his face had a pale green tinge and his eyes watered a terrible liquid. They had been poisonous arrows and this was no angry citizen of Camelot. Whoever was after them was a trained assassin.
Arthur closed Danyls eyes before he pulled out his sword and ran to join the rest of his men. Another lay dead on the ground-his rib cage slashed open, but Arthur didnt have time to deal with him now.
His men were gaining ground on the assassin. It looked like he would be caught.

"Your guardian eh?" Arthur asked laughing, "You sound just like my servant Merlin, he tends to get himself into trouble when Gaius -his guardian- is away too. Lets hope for your sake that you aren't anywhere near as clumsy!" Offering a hand to the stranger in order to get her out of the bushes, Arthur wondered who this girl was apprenticed or servant to. He definitely hadn't seen her before, and it was unusual for a girl to be taken in by a stranger especially one who left her alone while he went travelling.
"Did you say you were riding?" Arthur asked as soon as she was nettle-free. He could see no sign that she had a horse with her, and his party's horses didnt seem unnerved by anothers presence at all. But before Casalynn could answer Arthur felt a tugging at his sleeve. "Your Higness!" One of his knights hissed at him. Arthur scowled and turned back to Casalynn. "So, you know i am Prince Arthur, but who-" Arthur was interrupted by a more vicious tug this time and reluctantly he turned to face Sir Edward with a frown. "What is it?" Edward pointed subtley towards Casalynn, and mouthed the word "Sword". Arthur turned around and noticed what Sir Edward meant straight away. Within seconds Arthur had grabbed his own sword and was holding the point up to Casalynns neck. "Who are you and who is your master?" He demanded, angrier now than when his hunt was disturbed.

I know its inevitable because thats how the legend goes...but still, they got it so wrong with gwen that theres always a chance right?

Basically, you just have to write how how you imagine the previous person to be. (Gender, age, looks and anything else you want) So whoever replies will have to say what they think im like and hopefully it wil be quite fun to see how wrong or right they are!

Arthur laughed as Merlin attempted to copy his own footwork. Jumping up and down on his toes, he looked more like an excited puppy than a soldier, but then what did Arthur expect?
With a clever twist of his sword, which would have done nothing in an ordinary fight but leave him open to attacks, Arthur thrust his sword forwards and jabbed the air to the left of one of Merlins rather prominent ears.
"Watch out!" Arthur taunted, "It's hard to judge the size of those things." That caused an outburst of laughter from the Knights and Arthur shot Merlin an apologetic look- Maybe he was being too harsh again?
"Come on Merlin, I'm open now," He said holding his arms out either side of him, "Attack me." He hoped Merlin would not do any damage, but with Merlins skills with a sword- it could go either way.

Arthur still stood crouched low to the ground, heart pounding with excitement andcrossbow at the ready, when Casalynn burst through the undergrowth in a fluster.
His jaw dropped as he realised that not only had he been interrupted by this girl, but that also his prey had just fled at the sound of her voice.
"Argh!" He yelled, throwing his weapon over his shoulder, where it narrowly missed both one of his beaters, who ducked quickly behind the trunk of a huge tree. "What on earth are you doing in the forest!" He half screamed the words at the poor girl, who looked awkward standing knee deep in shrubbery, "No one comes in here its dangerous!!"
Turning round, Arthur leant one hand on the same tree his beater was still standing behind and bowed hsi head. He needed to calm down, a prince should not get so angry in front of his men and royal subjects. After a few deep breaths he regained his composure, and turning back to the girl, he smiled.
"I'm sorry," He said sincerely, "I am afraid that when i begin a hunt i get so very into it. I'm a terrible loser too, and i seem to have lost all chance of catching anything today!" He shrugged and gestured for his men to collect his crossbow from its resting place in a heap of golden leaves. "Still, it matters little now. May i ask what you are doing so far from Camelot? Or are you from Avalon?"

Arthur rode proudly out of Camelot's tall gates, his head held high. He was seated upon one of his finest horses, whose coat was shining almost as birghtly as the Unicorns. His feet were position loosely in the stirrups, for this was to be a gentle ride to an outlying village.
With him travelled seven of his finest Knights, all clad in their gleaming armour although everyone knew that this trip would be the safest they had ever undertaken, it was more of a social visit to make sure the villagers were well.
Sometimes Arthur wished his father would do these jobs himself, but he had become so paranoid that he rarely left Camelot and if he did so, it would be more than seven guards who rode by his side. It pained Arthur to say it, but he didn't belive his father was such a good king these days.
"Beautiful day!" Said a passing merchant, his wagon full of ripe fruit from another kingdom no doubt. Arthur smiled and nodded, before pulling tighter on the reigns of his mare and pulling into a trot, his sword tapping on her flank as they moved.
As they drew near the crest of the hill, Arthur began to sense something was wrong. Slowing his horse down, he proceeded carefully, checking every direction. It was probably just a deer.

Arthur walked while crouched low, listening to the sounds of the forest. He could heard a few distant bird calls high in the trees, but he was on the lookout for larger prey.
As he stalked, his hunting companions followed closely, slightly more wary that Arthur, but then that was his way. Nothing scared him, little made him cautious and he went into everything head on. Today was no different and armed with his trusty sword and cross bow, he felt that nothing could stop him- even tales of mythical creatures.
A strange animal call, from somewhere to the west, made Arthur stand up straight and call for a beater to pass him his crossbow. He pulled a bolt from his quiver and slowly drew back the bowstring, before going back into his crouch and pushing his way forwards through the bushes.
Arthur never felt more alive than when he was on a hunt. Perhaps in a battle he would, but then again his father would never allow him to ride to war. Still, the pounding of adrenaline in his ears excited him more than anyone could imagine.
A brushing of twigs on twigs caused Arthur to turn sharply, something was close and he had no idea what it was.

"You." Arthur said simply. He went to the nearest weapon rack and pulled out a hand-and-a-half sword which was well balanced -and thus more suitable for someone less used to handling a sword- and held it out to Merlin. He pulled his own sword from his waist, and using his foot to push his armour out of the way, stepped back, in a fighting stance he wouldn't normally use. It left him more open to rushed attacks than he would like, but with Merlin that wasn't particuarly important.
"Come on Merlin," He smirked, "Unless of course you're scared." It probably wasn't a good idea to taunt a magician. He did of course have a distinct advantage: He could use magic. Arthur however knew that Merlin would not show him up, nor would he harm him and of course Arthur would not harm Merlin either. It was all a clever ruse (on Arthurs part) to show his guards that he could defeat everyone and everything.

"It was a true tragedy. I feel ashamed there was nothing Camelot could do, I fear we did not even know until now that your kingdom had fallen." It was true, neither Arthut or his father had realised that the Glenn family and all the others in the kingdom had been killed. If they had known the truth, perhaps they would have been more surprised that Anna had lived, for it was a massacre.
"I shall call upon you tomorrow," He smiled, wanting to change the subject to something more light hearted, but not make her think he wanted to get rid of her. "We shall go for a ride perhaps?"
He looked forward to spending some time getting to know Anna, he felt almost like she needed looking after, due to the misfortune that had befallen her. He hoped Merlin wouldn't assume he had ulterior motives, because for once he truly was just being a gentleman.
He nodded to the last of the servants who began to clear the few plates and goblets that remained on the oak table. Arthur stood up and went to help Anna up, escorting her to the door.
"Well My Lady, I shall see you soon, and i trust that if you have any discomforts in the castle, you will let me know." He kissed her hand before smiling and winding his way through the castle to his chambers.

"Oh I would dare Morgana." Arthur Pendragon grinned. "You may be my fathers ward, but I am his son. He will believe me over you."
With that Arthur shot one last glare at the librarian, who quickly shuffled through a door into his private chambers. Arthur knew he wouldn't talk now. Who would upset a prince who threatened his adopted sister with gaol?
Arthur said goodbye to Morgana, and left the library. The hallway was cold and Arthur wished he brought a cloak with him. He would have to go outside if he wanted to get back to his chambers, and it was raining. As he hurried through the stony corridors he wondered if once again he had threatened Morgana a little too much. Sometimes he put being the Prince in front of what truly mattered: his friends. He made a mental note to spend some quality time with Lady Morgana later this week, it was only fair.
He huddled as close to the castle walls as he could when he crossed the courtyard. It gave him a little protection from the bitter wind, but the rain still fell strong and fast. He wished Merlin had power over the weather. That would be a truly useful gift.
