(sorry- lots of pissed off Morgana muse lol)
Morgana had just about made it to the door of the room when Lancelot slipped in between her and the door and gave a quick bow of deference. She had to stop rather suddenly so as not to crash into him. Morgana was about to order him out of the way when he so eloquently offered his services to escort her home. She was within Camelot's safe walls- walls that she had grown up in since she was a young maid. She knew more of the secrets of Camelot's city reaches than most- well perhaps not as much as some of the guards, but she could certainly hold her own. "Thank you for the flattery Lancelot however I believe it is time I returned to the castle. I may be mis-reading the situation, but something about my presence here has thrown off the evenings festivities and I would not wish to RUIN anyone else's evening. Should the Lady Raven wish to receive her gift later inform her that she can send me word. As for an escort back to the palace, while it is your duty, I am more than capable of escorting myself back within the walls of the palace."
She had just finished explaining why she was leaving and that she did not require an escort this evening when she heard footsteps running to catch up to them and the voice of a young serving girl- Morgana turned to see that it was Felicity. "Surely you will not leave my mistress like this. She has given you everything and if you truely loved her, you wouldn't rush off with the one she is worried about so quickly. You're haveing a child with my Mistress, Sire. A CHILD. Is a beautiful woman worth leaving them both?" As she listened to Felicity tear into Lancelot the situation fell into place. If she was reading the explanation right apparently Raven was worried about something between Morgana and Lancelot. Suddenly she was seeing the full situation for the first time. Lancelot and Raven were together with a child on the way, but something had happend to make Raven doubt that and now Lancelot was thought to be running off with Morgana. Morgana let her gaze pass between Lancelot and Felicity then drew herself up to the full height and presence of her status. The accusations had to stop. "You will remember which 'beautiful woman' you are currently speaking about. I do not entirely know what has gone on this evening however this display of behaviour is unacceptable- you are shouting at a Knight of Camelot in the presence of the King's ward. Whatever has gone on between your mistress and Lancelot should not be aired in public- especially when feelings run the risk of being trashed and there are skills of both magic and sword at play. As for rushing off with me, Lancelot saw that I was preparing to leave and did what his duty to Camelot would have him do-offer to escort me safely back to the confines of the palace."
Morgana was about to say something about her turning down Lancelot's offer of an escort for two reasons, she was more than capable of escorting herself back to the palace, but there were also other members of Uther's court that would escort her back if it came to that, when Raven joined them near the door. "I will have my hell hounds escort the Pendragon back....Take Morgana home. I'm sorry. I should not let my paranoia get the better of me. But if your heart lies with Morgana I wont stop you from following your heart." Morgana took a step back in surprise as the hounds appeared at her side- no wonder she called them hellhounds...they reminded her of the creatures her nursemaid used to tell her about in her stories as a way to scare Morgana in to behaving. "Thank you for the offer of your 'hounds' Lady Raven, but as I have already told Lancelot and clearly demonstrated on many occasions I am no longer a child who requires a 24/7 hour guard for protection. I am more than capable of escorting myself across the city square. Now, either return to your festivities or disband the party...." With that said Morgana tossed Raven's gift at her, gave everyone there a look that said 'smarten up' and slipped out the door past Lancelot. Out in the fresh air she took a deep breath and then started back toward the castle. She knew that whether she needed it or not there would a guard at least watching out for her- Morgana knew that they followed her movements everytime she left the confines of the palace at Uther's orders, and she somehow suspected that Raven wouldn't simpy call off the hounds either but she left that up to Raven to make the final decision whether to actually send them or not.

By this point she was well aware of the fact that Raven and Felicity had both slipped off. Just as she was about to answer Lancelot she saw the young man that had been with Raven and Felicity acknowledge her with a bow of his head. Now that he was actually facing her she recognized him to be Legend- one of the Mages of the Guild. Although she had yet to acknowledge her own magic fully, she was aware of the trainings that the Mages went through. She inclined her head in response to his bow but then her attention was pulled away from the Mage's by Lancelot's voice.
"Excuse me Lady Morgana, I am sure that we will return in a moment."
"Of course" The question was whether she would be there when they returned. By this point the entire group that had been surrounding Raven- Felicity, Legend and now Lancelot had left the main area. While she didn't know exactly what was currently going on both the circumstances and the voice in her head were screaming loud and clear that it had something to do with her. As the King's ward she could follow after them all and demand an answer but she didn't even want to attempt going up against a possibly upset Raven or the other Mage and she knew how protective a maid could be for her mistress- based on her interactions with Gwen.
She had done her duty and made an appearance on behalf of the King and Arthur, so rather than upset the balance anymore Morgana was considering just leaving. She looked down at the half empty wine glass in her hand as well as the gift she was still holding and before making a decision sat down on a nearby bench. The voice in her head was starting to give her a headache which for her was never a good thing but she couldn't let the party goers know that there was anything wrong with her. Morgana finished of the glass of wine and made the decision that for the safety of everyone there it was probably best that she leave. Chaos tended to happen when Morgana lost control of her emotions/the voice in her head-things going up in flames, nightmares, etc. Taking one last look down at the gift she was holding she considered leaving it with Raven's other gifts but considering the value of it she knew that wasn't a good idea. With that decision in mind, Morgana stood up from the bench and began to walk slowly towards the party exit. If the others made it back before she had left and wished her to stay she would but she didn't want to ruin anymore fun than she already had.

As she watched from the edge of the festivities she couldn't help but feel the happiness washing off the crowds. The people of Camelot always rose to the occasion when there was a party to be had. She had hoped to wait for a break in the festivities to present Raven with her gift but as she was the ward of the King it was pretty hard to fly under the eye of anyone...even if she wanted to hide herself amongst the crowd she tended to stick out like a sore thumb. She was known as the "Lady" of Camelot, even if she was just Uther's ward, since neither Uther or Arthur were married she often filled the role of hostess which would normally have been the role set aside for their wives.
It didn't take long for her presence to be noticed. Lancelot must have noticed her out of the corner of his eye as his head turned and locked onto her face. "Lady Morgana, Welcome to the the festivities, Are you to be the sole representative of the Pendragons?" Morgana acknowledged his bow with an incline of her head and glanced around the festivities again just to double check that her foster brother was no where in sight. "Thank you Lancelot... It would seem so, The King sends his blessings and happiness but has other matters, however it is unlike Arthur to miss such a social occasion but perhaps something came up that he could not get out of." Morgana approached to give Raven her gift, but noticed that in the time that Lancelot was welcoming her, Raven had slipped off. She looked around to see if she could see the other young lady, but was unable to see her in amongst the crowd. Morgana couldn't help but wonder if Lady Raven had left simply because she arrived or was Morgana simply being a little paranoid. Anyone who didn't know Morgana well would simply say she was being a little paranoid and that perhaps Lady Raven had gone off to greet another friend, but that little voice in Morgana's head kept saying otherwise. Prior to Lancelot seeing her she had watched with delight as Raven, her maid, Lancelot and another young man all seemed to get on wonderfully even to the point of teasing the young maid and young man who were clearly head over heels- and she didn't have to be a seer to see that...and then as soon as Lancelot acknowledging her Raven had slipped away into the crowd. That was too much of a coincedence to rule out her presence.

Morgana had watched the townsfolk as well as those of higher rank get more and more excited as Lady Raven's birthday approached. One thing Camelot was known for was parties- and she was sure this celebration would be no different. She loved attending parties however she was unsure if she was going to attend this one or not. Morgana had come to accept that she most likely had magic due to the unexplainable circumstances in her past and although the King had finally relaxed his views on magic, she was still hesitant to shout it from the castle turrets. She knew of Raven's magic abilities and that she was good friends with Merlin- it truly was nice to know that she wasn't the only one, but she was still a little uncomfortable about someone whose magic was already so strong.
The day of the party arrived and she had been weighing the pros and cons of going and of course discovered that the pros outweighed the cons so she had Gwen help her dress in her purple gown with the blue overdress and then her hair curled loosely down her back. Her gift for Raven was a pendant necklace- a braided silver chain with an emerald pendant. Hopefully Raven would appreciate it. When she arrived at the location for the festivities she saw that much was underway but she noted that neither Arthur or Merlin were there which she thought was odd. Surely neither of them would miss such an important party? She saw Raven a short distance away but saw that she was surrounded by Lancelot and her maid Felicity so rather than barge right in with her gift she took a glass of wine from a passing servant and waited to get Raven's attention.

Hopefully not fully away for the entire month but August has rapidly filled up and gotten crazy!
My regular work, stepping into help babysit my co-worker's 18 month old son so that he doesn't have to keep booking shifts off/finding people to cover for him and my grandmother in town (yay-craft time...) let's just say my days are busy...I will try to keep up with posts but can't make any promises.

When Isabelle stated that no one was hurt Morgana gave the girl a reassuring smile and a nod of her head. "Well at least no one was hurt." At that, Isabelle came over and began to fix her hair. Although she was a noble and therefore knew servants were there to do her hair and dress her it always felt wierd to have someone else brushing her hair- Morgana was more than capable of doing her own hair and had done it herself on occasions when the maids were busy with other tasks. When she finished and stepped back Morgana turned and looked Isabelle over from top to bottom. She noticed that Isabelle was looking straight at the floor. Even Gwen looked her in the eyes most of the time. Although Morgana should be harder on Isabelle or any servant, she suspected there was more to the girls' story but wouldn't pry
"Are you sure everything is alright? I have seen you light many fires without a problem....If you are worried that I'm mad don't be just don't let it happen again."

(sorry this post slipped my mind..)
Morgana had already been up and dressed for awhile except for her hair. She was sitting at her vanity brushing it out when Isabelle- one of her maids entered the room. “Lady Le Faye I am sorry I’m late, I had an accident with the… fireplace.” She had a problem with the fireplace? Morgana quickly scanned the girl from top to bottom and noted that she did not take her gaze from a spot on the floor. Was she really afraid that Morgana would be that upset that she was a few minutes late or was there something else that had really happened? She put the brush down and looked at Isabelle.
"A problem with the fireplace? No one was harmed I hope? Normally lateness would be unacceptable, but I would rather the fireplace be taken care of then the castle burn down"
Although she did not know fully what could have possibly happened with the fireplace, she suspected that there might be another cause. Since coming to Camelot, Isabelle had served her well and she rnever admitted to having trouble lighting something as simple as a fireplace and Morgana had seen her light the fireplace in her chamber many times without issue. "Try not to be late again or I will not be so accepting regardless of the reason and be more careful with fire." The only person in her life that she would constantly forgive was Gwen- the two were more than maid and lady.

Morgana noted Gwen's blushing but refrained from commenting on this time as she did not want to embarass her maid anymore than she had. Whether she drew attention to it often depended on what they were talking about- if they were talking about boys and Gwen blushed she would be more likely to try and make her blush even more just for the fun of it. "You know them too well my lady,"
"Knowing them well is the joy of being the King's ward...I get to see the inner workings- both commands that make sense and also commands that don't necessarily make sense."
Morgana was glad to hear that Gwen was taking care of herself. Winter was not the best time to get sick- herbs for medicines were in short supply, it was bitterly cold and Gaius confined you to bed. The thought of being confined to bed again did not inspire Morgana at all. She thought back to the last time she had become ill and remembered being confined to bed to ride it out- sure she had been quite ill but still it got to the mind where she was going insane from simply staring at the chambers of her walls for such a long time. She did not want that to happen again. "I promise I will take care of myself, so long as you do the same, I wouldnt dream of leaving you at the mercy of one of Prince Arthur's servants."
"We will hold each other to the promise to stay healthy- I'm sure neither of us wish to be confined to bed. As for leaving me at the mercy of one of Arthur's servants- I think it would be a break for that servant."

Morgana slid over slightly on the couch and tucked her dress out of the way so that Gwen could sit down. The one good thing about being a servant was that because Gwen was always moving she tended to stay a little warmer than Morgana did but it was still nice to pause infront of the fireplace anyway for a few moments.
"That is the problem with the cold, It lingers and takes hold like a mother would their childs hand. The fires warm us up for the moment, but as soon as we leave them, the cold is there again."
Morgana smiled at Gwen's choice of words for they made all the sense in the world. "Gwen you have a poets touch- you describe it perfectly. We get lulled into a sense of warmth when we gather around the fires but then as soon as we are away from their touch we are cold once again..." The two sat side by side on the couch sucking in as much warmth as they could from the fires flames. Although they were technically servant and mistress, Morgana truly felt that Gwen was more of a friend and she would rather have Gwen's honesty rather than the veiled honesty of the other noblewomen.
"I pity the poor knights though, Their training doesnt stop just for the winter. How hard must it be to practice when you're up to your knees in snow? Then again, I suppose the King and Prince think it makes them tougher warriors."
Morgana did not have to know Gwen all that well to pick up on the sarcasm in her statement. It was pretty blunt...but very honest. Although it was important for the men to be in top physical condition at all times, surely there were other ways it could be done in the winter. Far be it for her to say anything to either the King and Arthur, but she has watched the men, from the safety/warmth of her chambers training down in the courtyard up to their knees in the snow as Gwen put it.
"I agree that it doesn't make a lot of sense to train when you are up to your knees in the snow, but who are we to convince the King and Arthur to change the routines...other than logically thinking women....Now as for yourself, I hope you are finding chances in between your work to warm up again and that you aren't tiring yourself out because of it. I don't want you straining yourself and risking making yourself sick...Promise me?"

Morgana, continued to hold the shawl tightly around her shoulders while she let her gaze stare off into the fireplace. She was sitting as close to the fire as possible without actually sitting right on top of the fireplace. With the heat coming from it she gradually began to warm up. Surely there was a spell out there that could heat a draughty castle permanently? While she was tempted to ask Merlin she did have enough knowledge about magic to know that it was not used to silliness such as that.
At the sound of a knock on the door and then footsteps entering the room she looked away from the fire to see who had come in. A smile crept up onto her face when she saw that it was Gwen. Although the two were officially mistress and serving maid, Morgana would forever see Gwen as a true friend and confidant- the two had been through so much together. "Are you alright my lady?" Morgana patted the spot on the couch next to her.
"Ah Gwen, yes I am alright....I wish Spring would come so that this bone chiling cold would vanish. No matter how many fires are lit it is still freezing. Surely you must be as chilled or even more so? Come sit by the fire for a moment to get yourself warmed up."

Christmas had been wonderful- she always loved the festivities within Camelot during Christmas but following Christmas there was many more months of winter to get through. Winter had set into the lands of Camelot and while she usually liked winter, this year it was particularily cold. Those within the castle were held inside by the snow while those down in the towns were freezing to within inches of their lives or losing their lives completely. Although the sun was shining in through her chamber windows, there was no warmth to go along with it and as such Morgana spent many of her waking hours wrapped in heavy shawls, cloaks and furs.
Morgana entered one of the smaller rooms often frequented by the ladies of the court, especially in the winter, as the room was small enough to be easily heated by the one fireplace in the room. After a quick glance around the room she noted that she was currently alone but at this point her plan was to enjoy the heat and if company came along it would be even more enjoyable. Morgana sat down on a couch by the fireplace and tucked her feet up besider her on the couch.

As Morgana had spent many years in the forefront of court as Uther's ward, she knew that when it came to masked balls it was almost impossible for her to hide her identity. For this occasion she had a brand new dress made in a bright red with gold trim but even with that her hair and poise she was sure would be a dead giveaway. She had considered for a time going dressed in one of Gwen's dresses- ie change roles with Gwen, but in the end she decided to go more as herself to honour the King and his decision to raise her. The one thing she made sure of was to offer one of her dresses to Gwen for the night if she wished to wear it. "Gwen, as someone who has been there for me in all my rough patches, I want you to enjoy the night. You are not to work tonight!" The only work she allowed Gwen to do was to help her into the dress since it did require a little bit of help. After that Morgana did her own hair and makeup while Gwen took care of hers. When Morgana was satisfied with her appearance she donned her lacy mask and headed down to the party. She entered the party and let her gaze wander around the room. Considering it was the King's 50th birthday party- a milestone for sure, the room was decked out in festive colours and the banquet hall had been opened to the entire court. In Morgana's mind she was ready for the festivities to begin. She circled the room slowly taking in as many of the sights as possible. *** Outfit: Hair And Jewellry: katie-mcgrath.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=10940&fullsize=1Dress: medievalfancydresscostumes.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/medieval-princess.jpgMask: cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/b/0/0/d6/6/AAAAC0sPHogAAAAAANZl6Q.jpg?v=1277756825000
