Name: Eseld Oleander
Age: 19
Sex: Female
Class: Commoner
Appearance: Standing at 5’9 and a half Eseld has a certain un-proportioned look that she feels doesn’t compare with many of the other women. Being more on the tall and lanky side she feels as if she has a strong disadvantage to some of the more ‘shapely’ and ‘smaller’ girls of the obvious upper class, and some of the commoner class as well. This only makes her feel as if she will never have a shot at finding a husband , but then again she don’t see that as a bad thing either. Of course at her height and her more gangly build if you will, she doesn’t walk as gracefully as some might think; while on the ground, but on the ships it’s a different story, and instead has gotten quite a few cuts and scraps in her life due to falling. This doesn’t say that she doesn’t wear cloths well, when in fact she does; mainly this is because though she is slightly out of proportion as she likes to call it, she has a nice bosom and rear end that does show somewhat of curves that she does have. Over all though she looks average in health except for the cuts and sun spotting she has from the hours outside and in the sunlight that she has spent growing up with her mother and father.
Of course she isn’t a beauty queen either, with dark tanned skin from working in the sun, and thin oily brownish black hair that comes to about her shoulders and is normally kept pulled back out of her face. It’s not normally with anything fancy, mostly being scraps of cloth that would be used at a later time to repair cloths for the family. Her tanned skin also doesn’t do anything to bring out her chocolate brown eyes or thick lashes at all; to her it is just another feature that she could care less about. On her right calf she has a scar from when she fell off rocks down by a creek where she shouldn’t have been playing at the time. Then on her left shoulder blade she has a good scar from where she fell out of a tree climbing it with her older brother. Then the rest of her arms and legs are riddled with small discolored areas where she has either gotten sun spotting or small cuts and scraps from being just naturally clumsy.
All this adds up to a slightly strange idea of beauty in her own sense with a soft slopping jaw line with a curved and pointed nose that is small compared to her surprisingly plump naturally pouty lips. Now she is missing a few teeth in the back just out of sight, but it’s not so extreme that they look completely crooked and horrible. This is really just enough to show that she has gotten a few knocked out, mainly from back talking her father and lack of dentistry. It also leads well into her strange idea of dress; she isn’t picky about what she wears by far due to her upbringing. In her eyes if it covers you and keeps you warm then it is just fine to wear. Of course the colors she will wear does vary greatly on her attitude at emotions at the moment she feels that if she can’t have a certain color she just won’t wear cloths, of course she has to you know that! Her cloths will range from bright bold colors if she can get her hands on it, and flamboyant styles, of course within reason for her class, and with low cuts in the chest and wooden corset like tops of the lower status. Other times you will see her wearing cloths that are pretty well holed, or dirty due to not cleaning them a whole lot, though don‘t get her wrong she does take some pride in her appearance just not overly extreme in the manner she fusses all the time about it.
These cloths will also be quite roomy and big due to her clumsy and naturally ungraceful manner, perhaps this is because she never had to be graceful? Though if they are a little more restricting it is rare, due to having to be able to move when she is out doing things and trying to help her mother sell what her father caught. Now she has only been on her fathers fishing ship only a couple times to help him unload with her brother when she was younger, and has gotten a few sprains from that.

Character: Eseld is generally a good natured young woman, full of life and normally always smiling. Though sometimes this can be a little bit deceiving as she has this tendency to cover her emotions with a fake grin and air of happiness that isn’t always how she truthfully feels. The one general rule of thumb with her would have to be, you can tell how she feels by looking at her eyes. It is one of her very weaknesses that get her all the time no matter how well she is acting. When she says her eyes are windows to her soul, she literally means it. If she isn’t as happy as she would like to put off that she is; her eyes will spell her downfall if someone knows how to read them properly. The normal brightness that she has to them will be dim and fade slightly, not giving her that starry eyed look like she would usually have. This of course is something she tries her best to hide, and when she is sad and trying to act happy she will constantly look away. This is also something she will do when she is lying as well. By the rule of hers, lying in her books isn’t the best but sometimes a little white lie here and there won’t hurt anything.
This of course does have a tendency to become a habit when it comes to her family. She refuses to speak of her mothers passing, and will lie through her teeth on this subject. Saying that she wasn’t around and saying that she was working at the time that her mother passed. In her mind she feels that people will judge her horribly if she says she was there. She feels that they will think she didn’t do what ever she could to help her mother, even though this isn’t true. A little troubled is one way that she see’s herself, having learned to act on her own when it comes to her emotions around her employers. Believing that her problems shouldn’t be theirs, and like stated before will pretend she is just fine when she can. Her mental state at the time does have an effect on how well she performs her duties and job of course. So when she is depressed a person will see her quality of work go drastically down hill. This of course isn’t something that helps her mental well being either. One of these reasons being that she prides herself in her work and wants it to be perfect.
Another habit of hers would have to be fidgeting when she is nervous. The problem with her fidgeting is that she will not stay still for long and can be mistaken for being depressed easily. This is mainly if a person knows how to read her, and sometimes her body signals can come out mixed and matched. Where her weakness would have to be in a few departments, that she feels she needs to improve in. Unfortunately fidgeting fits not only into habits, but also into her weaknesses due to its nature of being when she is nervous about something. While nervousness may be an issue this is only when she is meeting someone new, or in the process of getting a job. Another of her weaknesses would be cute guys; she gets a little nervous around them but still enjoys flirting. A catch twenty nine of sorts, that she enjoys the company of them; yet fears they will reject her. For her fears it would have to be feelings of self dread or un acceptance in her employer’s eyes are things that she fears the most. While another would have to be loosing her father and brother, or not being able to help support them when things get tough back at home. Perhaps that is the reason they allowed her to get out and find a job, because they themselves are afraid of the families financial situation.
Her hopes and dreams would mainly involve some day helping to drag her family out of poverty. Of course this is a goal she may never reach, but a girl can dream. Her other would have to be manage to hook herself a nobleman, once more she knows she may never ever, ever reach this goal. After all it is very uncommon for such a thing to happen if a person doesn’t have a pedigree to back them up when it comes to money. On the other hand her strengths would have to be how well she can sweet talk her way into situations. She may not ‘seem’ that overly confident in herself, but in reality she can be quite charming when she wants. Knowing how to word things, she has gotten out of trouble a few times, but has also gotten into it. One of the reasons she is missing a few teeth from her father slapping her. She does in a sense fear her father, but she doesn’t in another. In this department it is quite a confliction of emotions on her part. Then again she feels that all children at one point in there life or another don’t completely like their parents either.
Some of her Favorite things would have to be dancing, she isn’t the best at it, but she enjoys making her own twirls and patterns when she hears music. This is something that makes her extremely happy, especially when she can be outside in the warmth of the sun dancing. Sometimes she will be seen dancing in the snow as it falls. This has gotten her the nickname snow white, because of how pale her skin gets during the winter and how dark her hair can get and almost pure black. She doesn’t mind the nickname as long as it’s not by someone she doesn’t like or that she has just met. While another would have to be singing, she adores singing and listening to music. She is the type that will make up words and beats in her head, though you won’t hear her singing it in front of people. Because she gets extreme stage fright if she tries to sing in front of people. While on the other hand some of her least favorites would have to be abusive men or people in general. She literally hates them, and will throw the nearest thing at them if they try to come near her. A bit protective of other people that she sees as weak and seeing them getting hit on just make’s her angry. While another would have to be humidity, she doesn’t like it because of how sticky and wet it makes her feel. It’s something she could do without, but sometimes it’s unavoidable and she knows it.
As far as anger goes, she is quite temperamental and hot headed. If she doesn’t get her way she will literally scream at the top of her lungs and if you have done something to really make her mad, you might just be ‘lucky’ enough to have something very heavy thrown at your head. If she can get a pot or pain within reach she will use that, and isn’t afraid to scrap, after all she did grow up with a brother. A few things that do anger her are seeing women who she knows sometimes can’t stick up for themselves get beat on by men. This just ticks her off, and if she is close to the person she will step up and say something even if it’s not her place. Once more this has gotten her into a little trouble, since she doesn’t do it all the time so it’s not an every day occurrence. Another would have to be when people try and say that more things are going on between her and her twin brother then what should be. She see’s this as gross and would prefer to knock the person spreading such horrible lies around on their butts.
With Sadness she feels that people who call her weak or pathetic because of her attention to detail and the fact she will sometimes get depressed around her mothers death anniversary are uncaring. This of course isn’t something she likes to show, so she will pretend she is always happy and smiling. A thing that does get to her is when people start saying things about the reason her mother died, and the fact that they think she could have done more. Of course she knows it’s not true what they say, but a person can’t help but to not get depressed when it happens. She also gets sad when her brother doesn’t visit or write to her for long periods of time making her nervous because she isn’t sure if the waters swallowed him and her father up or not and she will pace for hours on end waiting.

Magic: Eseld doesn't have any that she knows of, but she does know she is quite good at talking people into believing things easily. Other then that she is good with herbal remedies and 'potions' if you will from learning some from an old 'witch' named maria.
Weaponry Skills: Doesn't really have any, since she has never touched a weapon. The closest she has ever came to one is only watching others of higher status practice with them while she would be employed.
Character History: Born in the summer month to Sarabella and Garth Oleander in Camelot; Eseld was the oldest of twins by thirteen minutes. Now her brother Markus was the weaker one of the two, which was a disappointment to Garth. Like all men he wanted a strong son that could take over when he wasn’t at his best and could help him on the fishing boats that he worked. Of course they weren’t the strongest or safest either, due to the constant up keep that was needed on them, and the fact that he could barely afford to keep his own family fed let alone keep up a fishing boat. So it was a safety risk most of the time just to go out on these trips, and this he knew which was why the man wanted a strong boy and was so disappointed when he thought the child wasn’t going to make it. But, just because Markus was weak when he was born into this world didn’t mean that he was a sickly child either; nor that they weren’t just as happy to have Eseld either.
But the twin’s parents knew it was going to be hard if Markus didn’t grow stronger as time went on. It was the reality they had to face that the boy may not make it more then a week after he was born. It wasn’t uncommon in the day and age they lived in for a twin to die, and sometimes even both at the time. Though like his sister Eseld he was a fighter, and with the gentle care and love of Sarabella, Markus slowly started to return to health. Now even as babies the two couldn’t be separated from each other for long periods of time. Because if they were both away for too long, one or the other would start throwing a fit until the other was brought into the same room. As the years progressed the children were never raised in riches and wealth, but the two definitely had the love both parents could give them. Their father was a very busy man, constantly gone for days and weeks on end to fish and bring home what measly money he could get off of selling his catches.
And each day Markus and Eseld grew stronger, faster and strong willed and tough skinned. As children the two would go exploring the land the family lived on, and would wander the streets for fun. Of course they had gotten into trouble a few times, for running about the market center or for going places they shouldn’t have but that never detoured them. It was the thrill of discovery and excitement that came with the rush of being ‘bad’ if you want to call it that. Like all children they were dragged to church every Sunday and would listen to the priest go on and on for hours on end. At first it was interesting to them, it was something new and it was something they could listen to and a way to get out of work for the day. That was until they got home when Eseld would be dragged into the kitchen to help her mother make Sunday dinner. It never was big, but it was a day that the family would get things they normally wouldn’t eat because of Garth saving up his earnings for just this day.
Like all girls she was being taught how to take care of a house, clean, cook, sew and take care of children as soon as she was able to understand what she was being taught. Along with at the same time her brother was being taken away from home with their father to be taught how to become a fisherman and help on the boats with small things. These ranged from getting bait and carrying buckets of dead fish back. Neither of the two liked it, and it was quite clear when Eseld started to act out. Of course at the time she was only nine, and her brother had been leaving when their father would return for five years; but that didn’t matter to her she was upset that she couldn’t be with her brother. It didn’t seem to matter how much her mother tried to tell her that it was just his portion of growing up, just like learning how to take care of a house was hers. She refused to accept and if Markus was gone for long periods she would throw fits and refuse to help. This caused her mother to become quite flustered with her, even going so far as to slap her. This didn’t help her out look on life, she felt that the only way to stay close to people you loved was to throw fits, because when she would her mother would send word to her father who would for the first few years reluctantly send the boy back.
Of course this gave her a slight complex making the young girl believe that all she had to do was scream about something long enough and she would get her way. But, she was sorely mistaken as the years went by. She didn’t grow up as smoothly as some did, she had her growth spurts and when she had them she would sprout quite oddly making for her to be quite mad at herself for not looking like the other girls. She refused to accept that she was lanky with a big chest and butt. Of course her mother tried to tell her that she was perfectly normal, but she would refuse to listen. By the time she was thirteen and fourteen she had gotten hurt a few times. One time was when she went down to the creek without her mother knowing to wash some cloths on one of the rare occasions she could. It was here that she fell and ended up needing stitches in her calf, while another time was when she fell out of a tree when she chased her brother up in. This was because they had gotten into an argument and he thought it would be funny to climb out of her reach or so he thought. Of course she got half way and fell down cutting her left shoulder blade up. This didn’t need stitches but she got in trouble by both parents. As the years progressed Markus settled quite nicely into the position beside their father, but at sixteen Eseld didn’t like this and started to get a mouth on her towards her father. At first it was nothing major just a few snide remarks that he overlooked at first, but soon she was getting quite mouthy. This had caused him a couple times to back hand her in the mouth and cause her to loose a few teeth due to it. The man was strict, but he wasn’t normally violent. Though like all girls she learned quickly that the only way to get anywhere in life was to find something you were good at, and that was when she found she was decent at smooth talking and subtle flirting. This was the same time she also found out she was quite the little actress and could make almost anyone believe what she wanted. This of course was mainly used on her parents when she and Markus would get into squabbles.
It was also about her Sixteenth year that she would go out and sell fish in the market when her father would bring it back. But at eighteen was when everything seemed to go downhill, her mother had gotten horribly sick with a deathly virus for the time. She couldn’t move and she was always coughing constantly, and an extremely high fever. It seemed no matter how much the girl tried to take care of her mother, she didn’t get any better. They couldn’t afford a physician and they only did what they could, this was about the same time Eseld started getting interested in Wicca and Herbal remedies. Having talking to a few older women who were feared in the community because they thought they were evil. This of course was something she kept secret so as not to become feared as well, but she tried everything the old woman named Maria tried to give her to help. But it didn’t take her mother more then two weeks before she passed on, like people of this time the family had to bury her mother in the back yard. Of course it was marked with a small make shift wooden cross, but that didn’t stop Eseld from being angry with herself.
She felt she could have done more; she should have done more to help her mother. It seemed that no matter how hard her father tried to tell her she couldn’t do anything more it didn’t sink it. Soon she was taking over running the household and doing her best to keep it going as smooth as her mother, but at this time she realized she needed to find herself a job as well. With what her brother and father alone was making wasn’t enough, so after talking with both her father and brother they agreed to let her get a job as a servant. For the next year she would get hired to odd jobs to some of the higher ups, but nothing she could keep for long. It seemed that some of the higher class was fickle about their servants, but she learned one thing watching them in secret. That if you want to get by in this world you got to know how to talk quick and learn fast, otherwise you will be walked all over. Now she waits for her turn to use some of her more cunning abilities to her advantage, though she highly doubts she ever will. But, after all a girl can dream of getting out of poverty at some point right?
Additional Information: Nothing that I can think of at this moment.
Sample Roleplay:
The sun was shining brightly above the streets where Eseld walked, the sounds of people gathered in one place were overwhelming and the heat coming off each person was excruciating. Today was no different then any other day. She had not seen her brother or father in what felt like forever since she got a job as a Servant. It was antagonizing for her, being away from her brother for so long was not normal for her. Oh, it wasn’t because anything else, it was the fact that they had been so close growing up. Being the oldest made her feel as if she needed to protect him instead of the other way around; after all he was the weak one no matter what he said. Sometimes she knew it could get on his nerves, but that was the joys of being minutes older then your brother. A soft smile played upon her face though as she walked into town. She enjoyed such things, it was a time for escape and a time for relaxation from the every day troubles that haunted her working hours. But, it was no worse then the nightmares that haunted her sleeping hours. These flooded her mind as the days she spent trying to nurse a sick and dying mother back to health that came to no avail.
No matter how she tried to push the memories out of her mind, her imagination would wander back to it. She would remember the good times when she was younger, when her mother would sit outside with her during the summer hours like today and teach her to sew. That was when she and Andrew were not getting themselves into trouble as well. They may not have been the richest people in the world, nor the most well fed either, but her mother and father always made sure the kids were taken care of in well being. Taking a deep breath of the scents in the air, she ignored her surroundings almost completely forgetting that she was in the market place and was to bring a few things back to the place she worked. Alas though, it seemed to be the problems that accounted for most of her jobs failing. The fact that many would think she day dreamed instead of anything else. This of course wasn’t always true, she also focused on detail; but today wasn’t one of those days.
Black hair pulled into a loose ponytail with her trade mark strip of cloth she would later use for an outfit was tied tightly. Bright eyes shown from beneath her lashes and in her deeply tanned skin. While tucked under one arm was a basket that she had to bring back from the place she was working. It was of course to carry the stuff she bought. Upon arriving at the stalls she did her best to remember what she was supposed to get as her eyes stared at the food and supplies in front of her. She knew she only had so much that the people gave her to go on and with a sigh she started walking around looking as the man behind the counter watched her almost wearily.
