Name: Elaine Ma'Lay
Age: 22
Sex: Female
Class: Appears to be a peasant
Appearance: Elaine has very delicate features. Her eyes are hazel brown and hold a degree of sadness, as well as hope, to them. Her eyelashes are naturally curled upwards adding a bit more emphasis to her dark eyes. Her skin is very fair and light, almost having a pale pigment to it, while her cheeks are a little bit red. This is not changed depending on her emotions, it is merely another natural characteristic on her physical appearance. Her hair is very long, running down well past her back. It is dark brown and wavy. She often loosely ties it up or lets it fall freely, and though untamed, it does not give her a disorganized appearance. At times she will place a head band on it to hold it back. Other times it will be styled in a braid and wrapped around the top of her head. Most of the time, it will be concealed under her hood that she wears when traveling. She has a slim figure, and stands at 5 foot 7.
Elaine is a woman of great simplicity. She does not wear make up, nor does she dress up in any way. Though her class does not grant her the luxuries of those with wealth, she does not wish to dress extravagantly as she does not like that attention. She is often clad in a beige shawl, not of the highest quality, which she keeps wrapped around her when traveling. She also clips it to the side with a cylinder device, creating a hood which she places on top of her to further conceal her from public, though not hiding her face. Underneath, she has the clothing of a peasant, choosing this kind of lifestyle above all else.
Model: Gemma Arterton
Character: Elaine is a mysterious individual. She wanders the towns settling where she feels. While she prefers to blend in to the crowd -- not wanting to be the center of attention -- she tends to stand out. She possesses a certain aura that constantly surrounds her and whether this is due to magic or is merely a natural inherited quality, is something that remains undetermined. Despite her status as a 'peasant' she holds a high degree of elegance and grace. The tone of her voice coincides with her calm demeanor, as her words are extremely soft and almost musical. Her expression always demonstrates innocence and has an angelic quality about it.
She is humble, timid, shy, patient, and very calm. Seldom does she express any emotions of anger, frustration, or hate. She avoids conflict at all costs, hating negativity and violent confrontation. This being said, she also does not smile too often. At times, she will be seen with tears in her eyes and though they are controlled, they seems to be no apparent reason for her tears to a passerby. She is extremely intelligent, holding great wisdom. She is a woman of few words, not talking unnecessarily . She possesses vast knowledge about several things and her quiet personality makes her appear to be antisocial.
She travels alone, trying to avoid making personal connections with others, afraid of experiencing their inevitable loss. She appears to be very detached but she craves and longs for that human connection, making her conflicted in her communication with others. For that reason, she keeps to herself, trying to avoid crowds but finds herself unavoidably thrown into them. Her life of loneliness is not one she enjoys, but the pain of losing another loved one is far too great for her fragile heart and mind. Because she keeps quiet and does not like being center of attention or conversation, she has a very keen perception. She will often observe others and is excellent at reading their emotions and thoughts, though it is not magic that permits her to do so but rather, years and years of practice. She has very strong instincts, but is still very emotionally vulnerable, no matter how hard she tries to avoid it.

Magic: For lack of a better word, she is a witch. She prefers the word 'sorceress' but ultimately, she prefers to keep this identity a secret. Though magic is not always forbidden, and is more widely accepted than it once was, she does not disclose her abilities to the general public. She has had many years of perfecting her ability to make potions and cast spells making her strong in this way, but because of her nomadic tendencies, she does not carry a great deal with her. She is a quick learner, and has a very strong memory so most of the information she learns or comes across is mentally stored. She does not use magic for good or evil. She is very neutral when it comes to her abilities, but she, as most humans with a conscience, does not like to see others suffer so when it is absolutely necessary, she will use it.
Weaponry Skills: Absolutely none. She prefers to use intelligence and caution as a defense mechanism rather than aggression and violence, as she is not at all a violent person. Her personality is far too timid for her to show any hostility.
Character History: Born in a small house, to a simple family, Elaine's childhood was anything but ordinary. She was daughter to a sorcerer and her mother also practiced magic to the extent that she was exposed to it at a very young age. She was a miracle born child, and therefore had no other siblings and so received all of the protection and undivided affection from both her parents. Her parents taught her the ways of magic and by the time she was ten years old, she was casting spells and concocting potions. Her childhood was fairly easy going. She learned the ways of magic, as well as other practical life skills such as cooking, sewing, etc. Neither of her parents wanted her to solely rely on magic for the rest of her life and so taught her the necessary life skills that could be performed in the absence of magic.
Her life remained rather uneventful -- if one could consider being raised by two sorcerers uneventful -- until she reached the age of 19. It was then that she met someone who she almost immediately committed to, and this commitment and love between them was mutual. There was but one obstacle surrounding the relationship between Elaine and her love, Darren and that was the difference in status. He was a very wealthy nobleman, where as she was more of a citizen, and though they were not overly poor, there was still too significant of a class difference. Elaine's family nor Darren, considered this an issue however, his family did. Elaine's father suggested using magic to raise their status, but Elaine refused this idea, finding it shallow and not wanting to act as if she was from a family of shame and poverty.
It did not take a great deal of convincing for Darren to be rebellious and run away from home so that he could be with Elaine. The two eloped and the couple and her parents moved far away from the city so that they could live in an isolated location. Darren's parents knew what he had done, and were extremely angry and bitter at their 'daughter in law'. They consulted a powerful witch, wanting the woman to be cursed somehow so that she would learn a lesson. This was the one event that truly changed Elaine's life. It was by this witch that she was given the curse of agelessness. This meant, that Elaine would not appear to get any older, thus unable to die by old age.
Elaine and her family were unaware of this curse, until the years began to go by and not a single wrinkle appeared on her face. It took some time, but her parents concluded that she had been cursed. They tried to reverse this by age was something they could not escape and they passed away well into their eighties. Elaine had one child a year after their marriage, and she refused to have any more once the curse was determined. She could not bare the thought of outliving her child but unfortunately, this turned out to be the case. She remained looking identical while her husband began to age. Her child did the same. Darren passed away at the age of seventy three and Elaine's own child began to have a family of his own. She ended up burying her son when he was 66 and this was the last straw for Elaine. She could no longer deal with constantly experiencing the loss of loved ones, so left her home and all her possessions, passing them on to her grand children, and left to travel the Earth on her own, burning all ties to everyone.
She is not without purpose however. She is in desperate search for someone to find a remedy for her curse; to counter it. She is not powerful or experienced enough to do so herself, and having been alive for so many years, she has had enough. She has contemplated suicide multiple times but her strong values and morals prohibits her from carrying out this horrible deed. All she can do is search for a powerful enough sorcerer to aid her out of this devastating predicament so that she can fulfill her dream of growing old with a loved one, and eventually . . . dying of old age.
Sample Roleplay: Elaine sat on the rocks of a remote location, staring into the endless abyss of the ocean. The azure water remained still and calm, and offered a sort of serenity and peace that Elaine could not ignore. Her gaze was fixed upon it, though her mind was resting anywhere but on one memory. She had lived long enough to experience too much to be troubled by small trivialities. She had one problem. One undying issue. And part of the pain she always carried with her was the possibility that there was no way to free herself of this horrible curse. There was no guarantee there it was reversible, but hope was all that she had. It was all she could carry with her, and the only motivation for her to take each step forward.
As she sat on the rocks, she could not help but consider another possibility to be free of such a condition. All it would require was walking into the blue water, and never walking out. It would provide her with a euphoria, a happiness, as she heard it was not all too painful to willingly accept the fate of drowning. Serene. Peace. Freedom. She was too weak minded to completely stray away from the idea. She stood up and walked towards the water, folding her arms around her as if she were hugging herself in the absence of anyone else who could provide her comfort.
She took off her sandal and placed a single toe in the water. It was cool; refreshing no doubt. She put her shoe back on and looked forward at the clear blue sky. She took a deep breath and slowly began to walk. Each step was slow, cautious and yet, she felt as if she was not thinking at all. She was only in it ankle deep when she suddenly froze. What was she doing? How could this be the only alternative? It was not. She could not be that pessimistic. She could no longer suppress all of her emotions. She allowed the tears that had threatened her before to slowly make their way down her cheeks and she looked down and saw each teardrop make a small ripple in the still water. She was not sure how long she stood in this position. Her mind continued to think back to decades before . . . to the one moment in her life where she felt that she had nothing to fear. The hope to go back to such a moment was what forced her to step out of the water, and towards the small town she had been initially been heading towards. Perhaps there would lie her answer. Perhaps there would lie her salvation.
