Name: Elizabeth Severn
Age: 21
Sex: Female
Class: Nobility; to the family Severn
Appearance:
Standing at about 5'11, Elizabeth is tall, lean and what some might call imposing. Actually, what most might call imposing. While she is thin, she is not the type of thin usually seen from the women in the courts. All hundred and so pounds of her is solid muscle, earned from years and years of hard training. Despite that, she still has a certain beauty to her, even if it isn't soft and gentle. Hey body has good curves and is shaped to be fit and trim.
Although, the first thing the people usually notice about Elizabeth isn't her height. It's her deep, expressively green eyes. They're the major feature on her face, always alight with some type of feeling of another. She also has a straight nose and full, shapely lips. Her whole face is framed by long, dark brown hair, falling in waves to the middle of her back. Sometimes, usually in the summer, the sun will bleach some of her hair from it's almost black colour to a reddish brown. But for the most part, is stays dark and long, shadowing her face.
Played by Kate Beckinsale
Character:
Self-assured, determined, inquisitive, bossy, and enough attitude to stop a bullet. All of these are valid words to describe Elizabeth but there are also so many more. Most people would simply describe her as dangerous and unknown, because she opens up to nobody. She is quite a believer that everybody should take care of themselves, to most extents, and is quite a capitalist in that respect. She is a very selfish person and is fully aware of it, not in the least regretful about it. Her unnatural talent for getting inside of people’s head comes in so handy. Apart from that, she has almost no patients for planning. All of her actions are instinctive, and while they normally work out for the better, they can sometimes get her into a lot of trouble. This often applies to fights, as, if she sees something that doesn't really like, she will just go after it, not really thinking it through.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
+ Riding and most things equine related.
+ Hand-to-hand combat
+ Hunting
+ Swordplay
+ Archery
- Taking commands
- Loosing people close to her
- Using a bow in combat
- Having to deal with snotty nobles
- Remaining calm when she is insulted
Magic: None
Weaponry Skills:
She has done extensive training with both longswords and her two hunting knives. As was family custom, she began training at a very young age and showed great promise. Along with that, she learn hand-to-hand combat that would not require the use of weapons. Lastly, she has had some experience with a bow, but mostly for hunting purposes.
Character History:
The family Severn is rather young, originating from the far north only three generations ago. It was founded by a couple of outlaws, run off of their old land by people who were… well, let’s face it, afraid of them. The Severns were know for being quite ruthless when it came to punishment, and at the time it was only two of them maintaining the land. For years they had breed horses that were specifically made to withstand the hard riding and rough terrain that they lived around. Although there was no lord of the land or even noblemen around, the two Severns kept the peace as best they could, but soon people started noticing.
Although they have always suspected that another nobleman was to blame for it, the family was driven off of their land by disgruntled peasants. They complained that their laws were too harsh, and that the family was becoming overlords.
So they left. No hard feelings, no bad memories or fighting. There was a feeling that it was time to move on, so they went north, far as they could go. From then on they bred some of the best horses around, and used these mounts to control their land. They weren’t harsh and unreasonable. But they simply wanted to protect their people. After a couple of generations, their names where widely know in the area, and if you didn’t have a horse from them, it simply wasn’t worth having.
So into this family Elizabeth was born. Instead of going off with all of the other girls to mend clothes and cook, she went the other way. Being on of the only original descendants from the family, Elizabeth became something of an exception to the rules. Early on she learned about swordsmanship and soon after that how to hunt. Since the Severns where known for their horses, it can as no great surprise when Elizabeth became exceedingly good at riding. She grew up to be strong willed and fiery, with enough temper to send people packing with a single look.
Over the years, she became head of the Night Watch (as they were called in her northern homeland) and earned her family name in several battles and long nights of hunting and fighting. After a while though, Elizabeth decided to take a break, and go off to see a bit of the world. So, with a blessing from her family, she got on her horse and started riding. Nobody was really worried about the trouble that they were certain she would get into. Years of living in the hard north had granted her with enough common sense and spice to take care of just about anything. So now she has come to Camelot, ready to find something she can really sink her teeth into. Family crest in hand, Elizabeth is bargaining that it should be enough to get her the position of Stable Master. Besides, people who turn up with her kind of attitude and a horse like hers are bound to get noticed.
Additional Information:
If there is any position for some kind of Stable Master, Elizabeth would fit very well into the area.
Sample Roleplay:
((It's a post I've lifted from another site, so this is slightly out of context, but still, I hope it works for you guys.))
A shadow of a smile danced around her face, tugging at the corner of her lips. The man beside her was attractive, and she felt something towards him. More then she usually felt for people she met in bars. It was strange really. As her voice carried on about her life’s story, her second thoughts tried to figure things out.
She definitely felt something toward this endearing gentleman seated next her. He was charming and honest and handsome. He seemed to pay attention to what she was saying and genuinely care about the words coming out of her mouth. It wasn’t until he perked up considerably at the mention of magic that she broke from her tangled thoughts. There was a reason she avoided deep contemplations. They hurt her head.
As her tale concluded, Elizabeth finished her drink, gently setting the tankard back down on the worn wood. As the bartender came over, she declined another refill and instead slid the empty container across to him. The night was getting on in hours and she would eventually have to get back to the stables. Sadly, since tonight was going so well. But she wound never neglect the horses because of something that had her attention.
“Ah, a blacksmith. That was always a profession I wish I knew more about.†She nodded happily, pleased with his answer. However, as he went on, she was perturbed by the way he looked so ashamed of what he did. To her there was no problem with any of what he said. She had spent most of her life doing things much like that.
Reaching over, she patted him gently on the shoulder, trying to reassure him. “There is nothing to be ashamed of. That is a job that needs to be done, and you should be proud of whatever you do. In fact, I believe I have some cousins that do that very thing for a living. Twins, I think they were. But truly, they live for that. So don’t be worried about that.â€
As she finished speaking, she slipped off of her stool and stood, stretching her legs. Glancing around in an offhanded way, Elizabeth looked over at her companion. A little laugh escaped her lips. “I have accomplished many things, but I’ve let down enough people to make it about even. Don’t fool yourself; my life is far from easy. For everything I gain I lose something to. But I do appreciate the flattery. It is nice to know that you think of me like that.â€
“But, good sir, I feel sleep creeping up on me. I would be happy to look at you horse before we leave, if you plan on going any time in the near future. If not, I’m sure I’ll be around.â€
