Name: Maura Bracken
Age: 22

Class: Servant
Appearance: Maura has raven black hair and dark eyes. She is underfed but possesses an inner strength that gives her a direct gaze and stubborn chin. She is strong enough to be able to carry hay bales. With low pay and no one else she can rely on, Maura does not wear a particular style of clothing. Instead she settles for what is practical and affordable. Since she spends most of her time outdoors, Maura has darker skin.

Character: Maura is a strong willed young lass who is slow to trust. She prides herself on being self-sufficient and utterly refuses to be powerless in any situation. Despite her headstrong and stubborn attitude, Maura also possesses the ability to be utterly at peace with the world. It is when she is outdoors, perhaps when she is looking after the horses, that she might come by an inner peace and strength that makes her feel at one with the world. Still, most of the time she remains a touchy and reserved lass.
Since Maura grew up in the slums she has a slight ability with a dagger and used to be a petty thief. She has no intimate knowledge of the shadier parts of Camelot, instead she just knows what areas to avoid and which are safe. Maura fears magic and corruption beyond all other things, knowing well how lust for independence and self-empowerment can become twisted.

- Strength of character.
- Self-Pride.

Character History: Maura was born to Lawford and Carla in Camelot and so it is the only place she knows. She is the eldest child of two siblings. The eldest sibling (besides her) is Langston and the younger is Brigit. They all grew up rough and dabbled in petty theft. Her parents disinterest has also led her to become terribly self-sufficient, proud of her ability to keep herself fed. When she was fourteen she became a stable hand so that she could begin the journey to independence. That same year Langston also began work at a blacksmiths where he stumbled upon his own magical powers. Sharing his sister's ambitions, Langston sought to make use of the magic despite the Pendragon's laws. He begun practicising dark magic once discovering a young dark wizard. Maura stumbled across this little secret at fifteen. Maura was sixteen when she walked out of home without so much as a good bye to parents or brother.
Nowadays she lives in the Slums in close quarters to people in situations similar to her. Maura aims to rise through any kind of rank, her first desire is to learn to read and write. She fears for Brigit, unsure of how she will grow and fears magic.
Additonal Information: Would like to be a palace stable hand.
Sample Roleplay:
Dust played about Maura's boots. The boots had horse dung on them, testimony of time spent in the stables. She cleaned grand looking beasts with heavy muscles and flaring nostrils. The sun was falling, casting long colours over the sky and giving the buildings an aura. Everything seemed to be glowing, as if the sun had infected the world. Maura blinked and kept on walking, the corners of her mouth were turned down and she strode heavily. The boots clomping onto the ground. Not that she expected a mugging. The thieves here knew she was no rich tart, she was just trying to keep some food on the table for herself and her brother and her sister. Just like the thieves were doing. They'd only mug a tart rich from . . . a cloaked figured moved into some shadowed alley. Maura grinned, her face lighting. She knew that walk. Her brother Langston, he could never hide from her.
Keeping silent like a mouse, Maura walked towards the alley and when she was hidden, peeked around the corner. Maybe Langston was going to kiss a girl. That would be a laugh. What she saw made her blood run cold as snow.
Langston, his smith's build blocked the light. In his hand was a dagger and his other arm was around an old man's neck. The man's eyes were rolling, Maura could see how white his eyes were. He was blind. Breath caught in Maura's throat. No. This was no mugging, by Morrigan he was chanting! Chanting in a tongue she did not know. But she could feel something, a cold tingle on her skin. The cold was worse when Langston stabbed and now Maura gasped loud enough for her brother
to hear.
Langston turned to her, shock in his own eyes.
"Maura," he said. There was such affection in his eyes. "The power . . ."
