Name: Dante Grixis
Age: 23
Sex: Male
Race: Human
Appearance: Dante is relatively tall at six foot even. He is narrow around the shoulders, but that is rather misleading. Dante is strong from his life as a peasant and several other physically strenuous duties. His hair hangs around his shoulders and is a dark shade of brown. His eyes almost match the shade of his hair. His skin is pale, almost shockingly so, as if he were touched by a ghost.
His body is riddled with scars, the most notable of them are one that goes from his forehead all the way down the left side of his face, and a long jagged one on his arm.
Character: Dante is a very charismatic person; he can talk his way out of, and into any situation. He has a problem with knowing when it is best to keep his mouth shut. He can be cold and ruthless when he needs to be, especially when it comes to the nobility.
He is rather intelligent naturally and is educated. He is skilled at lock picking, sneaking and murder. He doesn’t exactly enjoy his profession of Assassin, but he doesn’t hate it either. He believes that some of the most pivotal points in history will be made with a well placed blade in the right person. That, and he’s good at what he does. He will never kill for pleasure, only to make money or in defense. He also frowns upon killing the poor and mindless violence. He has a strong sense of foresight; he can almost always tell when a situation will turn south.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths:
• Blade skills
• Speech
• Thieving and lock picking
• Reading
• Moving silently
Weaknesses:
• Women, they can get him to do anything
• Alcohol
• Ranged weapons
• Knowing when he should stop talking
Magic: Dante knows some magic, but he’s no mage. He can cast a weak fire spell, and he can sometimes get a lock opened with magic. He never really took the time to delve into the trade though sometimes he considered it.
Weaponary Skills: Dante is skilled with blades, long and short. He is also capable of using pole arms and axes though he considers them to be too unwieldy and slow. He uses a long sword in his right hand and a short sword in his left. His long sword had ancient runes written down the blade and where the blade meets the hilt it is carved into a skull with the blade coming out of its mouth.
Character History: Dante was born in a small town in the Ottoman Empire. His father was being persecuted for being outspoken against the Sultan and his Elite Council so they fled the county while Dante was still young.
He learned not to trust the nobles at a young age from his father. His mother died almost as soon as they arrived in Spain, their new home. His father, in order to stay hidden, worked as a peasant for a noble in a small town. He sent Dante off to a monastery when he was seven. He was raised by the Order of Christ monks and taught several languages as well as math and religion. He was taught to use weapons as well. It seems strange for a monk but they never used them for offence, always for defense.
Dante never really liked it at the monastery, he didn’t believe the religious stuff and didn’t really care for the monk lifestyle. When he was seventeen he returned to his Father’s farm. He couldn’t find his father and asked around town. He was told that his father got into an argument with the Prince of that particular village and was killed in the ensuing battle.
Dante flew into a rage and went to kill the Prince, but he quickly realized that he would be killed in the process. Rather than kill him in outright battle he waited, and watched. He observed the Prince for weeks and finally got his opportunity. One night while the Prince was leaving as an emissary to a nearby town Dante followed him. The Prince left the encampment, away from his guards for a moment and that’s when Dante struck. He snuck up behind him and slit the Prince’s throat. The only thing the guards ever saw was the cloud of dust as Dante rode away.
A few nights later he was staying at an inn on the road when a man approached him. The stranger said that he knew of Dante’s slaying of the Prince, and he extended a special invitation to him, to join and Order of assassins. Dante hesitantly accepted.
He spent the next five years training in stealth, combat, thievery and other assassin skills. He did low profile killings for the Order.
One cold night he was sent to kill one of the kings Knights. Dante dutifully went to the castle and in the dead of night he snuck past his guards and drove a knife into the king’s heart while he slept. Upon returning to the Order it became apparent that there had been a witness. They told him to run away and lay low for a while. They put him on a boat and when it landed he found himself in Camelot.
Additional Information: I wasn’t really sure about the limitations on what you could be as character or where they could be from so if it needs to be changed just let me know.
Sample Roleplay:
That could’ve gone better… Dante though to himself and he ran through the courtyard of the town. One of the town guards had happened to be in the bar when he killed his target. He shoved his way through a group of people and he pulled the hood of his cloak low over his face.
He could hear the guards yelling behind him as he rounded a corner. Dead end. Dante swore and ran full force at the wall and at the last second jumped up and grabbed the ledge. As he pulled himself up an arrow skipped of the stone next to him. Barely keeping he balance he ran along the narrow wall and jumped from it and landed on the roof of a building. Several arrows whizzed past him as he jumped along the rooftops.
This had not gone as planned. He was trying to keep a low profile by poisoning his target but now the entire village was watching him running from the guard. He got to the end of the row of building and leapt off the last one, hit the ground, rolled to keep his momentum going and kept running. His lungs were on fire and his legs ached but he couldn’t stop. Stopping meant death. His light chainmail armor seemed unusually heavy and his cloak fluttered behind him as he knocked a civilian down, into the path of the oncoming guards.
He could see the entrance to the town now, he was almost safe. A small smile formed over his face.
It quickly faded as he saw a guard with a halberd step into his path of escape. He drew out his swords from their sheathes on his waist and ran full speed to the guard, deftly rolling under the swing of the large, unwieldy polearm. As he rose he slashed upwards at the guard, creating a deep gash in the guard’s unprotected arm. He cried in pain and shock at the speed of his opponent but it was cut short as Dante’s other blade stabbed through his throat, spraying dark red blood onto the ground and Dante’s cloak.
Dante was out of the gate before the guard hit the ground. He leapt onto his horse, kicked its flanks and yelled to it and the horse tore off down the road. The pursuing guards stood at the gate in slight awe, by the time they mounted up the killer would be long gone.
Dante grinned to himself under his hood. Mission accomplished.
