Post by Erec de Bellièvre on Apr 22, 2010 18:46:13 GMT
Name: Erec de Bellièvre [Erec Bellfry]
Age: 24
Sex: Male
Class: Nobility
Appearance: Erec has quite long tousled brown hair that falls just above his shoulders. He has a tanned complexion due to the time he has spent working outside in the fields; the manual labour has also given him an athletic frame. He stands a little below average height for a man, although he is perfectly proportioned. Erec doesn't particularly stand out as not being a noble from a distance, but on closer inspection his hands are rough, he has quite a rugged edge to his facial features and he doesn't carry himself as one who has been a noble since birth.
Play-by: Ben Barnes
Character: Erec is hardworking and genuine. He cares about those close to him and is especially protective of his sisters and family. He is formally uneducated, which is a shame because he's natural quite intuitive and he would probably have taken to book reading well. Erec can come across as a bit simple, although that's far from the truth; he is however a bit too nice for his own good and therefore gullible and impressionable.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
+Well meaning and Genuine
+Athletic and fit
+Empathetic
+Hardworking and ambitious
+Caring
+Good horse rider
- Uneducated [Cannot read/write, knows nothing about correct noble behavior, politics etc.]
-Has no fighting technique at all
-Gullible and impressionable
-Too eager to please
-Uncomfortable with attention from women, he gets awkward and flustered! Can't think of the word off the top of my head- coy?
-Clumsy
Magic: None
Weaponry Skills: Good horsemanship. Novice concerning all weapons.
Character History:
Erec was not aware he was nobility until very recently.
He was born and raised in a small coastal village in the south of the Realm. His father was a farmer, and Erec was raised in an uneducated, agricultural background. He is one of the 5 Bellfry children, and to their parents dismay- the only boy. Erec worked on the farm full time in order to help his father make ends meet, and to support his mother, Aefa, and his four sisters. His elder sister Letta married into a local traders family, and Aefa focused much of her time trying to arrange marriages for the younger three. Whilst Erec was a good looking, healthy boy, he was never interested in marriage. He knew that his parents needed him to work and live on the farm, and they could not support another girl if his wife moved in with the family.
A few weeks before his 24th birthday, the family received an odd message. Due to a recent death, they were the last in line of a foreign noble family, the de Bellièvres; a branch of which had moved from Normandy to Albion several generations ago (due to an illegitimacy scandal), and who's name had been gradually changed to Bellfry. Whilst the de Bellièvre name came with no money or goods (these were taken to clear debts, so they were told) it did come with a title and a lordship.
Aefa decided it would be more beneficial for Erec to move to Camelot's Court, in the hope of him meeting a rich noblewoman with a large dowry, and hurriedly wrote to King Uther introducing her noble son as a fine prospective knight for his kingdom. Within the month a positive reply was received and plans had been made for Erec to leave the family farm. Aefa was sure they could hire farm hands to replace him now that his other sisters, all ladies, could make noble marriages.
Erec heads to Camelot feeling very much like an imposter, an awkward farm-boy in rich clothing. He has strict instructions to make his family proud and to live up to the noble blood that runs through their veins.

Sample Roleplay:
Bored, Merlin mooched around Arthur's chamber. He was waiting for the Prince to finish up in the training grounds, as he had already completed all of his chores for the day. That is until Arthur returned with scuffed armor and a horse that waited to unload a days worth of manure only after Merlin had mucked out the stables.
He sat down on the corner of Arthur's bed. Springy he thought to himself with a smile, then stood up and threw himself back down with a small jump so he bounced in the air. From this position Merlin caught sight of Arthur's wardrobe, a magnificent oak piece of furniture with drawers and brass handles. Leaving the dent of his buttocks imprinted in the bedsheets, Merlin strolled over to the wardrobe and threw the doors open.
"I'll just organise in here..." he called out loudly- for no-one's benefit as he was quite alone. He pulled out a magnificent red tunic with a matching cape, and held it in both arms infront of him. Without thinking twice, he slipped it over his head, fastening the heavy cape with a thick golden chain. It was loose on him, his scrawny chest was a lot smaller than Arthur's broad one, but Merlin didn't mind- he had spotted Arthur's gleaming crown. It was a plain circlet of gold, and he reached out for it like a naughty child. His head was a lot smaller than Arthur's as well, but luckily he was able to prop the loose crown on top of his ears. Merlin examined himself in the mirror. Not bad he thought with a grin.
He stepped back for a better view and pulled his princliest pose, then froze. Someone was standing in the doorway.
