A good post, you have now achieved the level of caster. I like how the animals got bigger throughout the post! Next time, try to focus more on your training and less on your feud with Dreamer though...

Chase walked, candle in hand and a bag over his shoulder, down the dank steps into the hidden in the sewers beneath the guild. He had run across cryptic mentions of it in one of the dark books of magic in the guild. From what he had been able to learn it had been made when magic had been forbidden and a coven of dark witches had met here. However the witches had all either been killed or fled Camelot leaving their books of dark magic behind in this hidden room.
Chase whispered "Tarian tywyll diogelu mi" before stepping through the threshold which was covered in an illusion so it looked like a large flat rock. A blast of dark power struck his newly created shields and petered off back into the sides of the threshold. Chase could tell that the blast was getting weaker. The first time he had come it had managed to break his shields but now he easily blocked it. It was only his third time here and it had already decreased far more than was safe. He would have to learn how to renew the trap to ensure that no one else found the room.
Chase's candle had been put out by the blast but Chase barely noticed recently he had found that he was getting increasingly good at seeing in the dark so he barely even needed it any more. The room he had entered was quite large, probably only a little smaller then the third floor of the guild. The back wall had several bookshelves that were filled with books on magic. True there weren't as many as at the guild but several of the ones on dark magic mentioned things that weren't in the guild books.
Chase went to a desk he had brought down on his previous trip and opened the book on it. It was filled with strange symbols and was incredibly hard to decipher but from what Chase had learned so far it appeared to contain instructions on how to create traps like the one at the door. However the instructions were very vague and appeared to be for a general trap. Unlike the one on the door which only attacked humans and in a very prescribed way.
Chase finally finished reading and walked over to the doorway to attempt to renew the spell already on the door. that should be easier than creating a whole new trap and would hopefully allow him to modify it so that it didn't attack him.
Chase pulled a paralysed rabbit out of the sack he had been carrying. If he was right to create the wards you needed a blood sacrifice, or at least you did if you wanted them to be strong enough to take out other magicians.
Chase cut the rabbits throat letting the blood collect into a puddle in front of him. He put his fingers into the pool of blood. He murmured, "Datgelu hud" He felt some resistance and pushed harder with his magic. The resistance broke and five symbols appeared on the doorway.
Chase stood up to examine the symbols better. They were all pentagrams with various other symbols sketched around them. However Chase could tell that they were growing weak. All but one, which he assumed controlled the illusion over the doorway, were barely glowing and the symbols sketched around the pentagrams seemed to be stretched and disfigured.
Chase traced the symbols with his bloodstained finger pushing his magic into the symbols. Finally once he had finished tracing it he whispered "Tywyllwch amddiffyn y drws o'r holl bobl eraill" At the end of his chant he felt a large amount of energy flow out of him and into the trap. It glowed brightly for several seconds before vanishing back into the wall.
Chase took a second to regain his breath. It had been a lot harder than he had thought it would be. He repeated the process on the second and the third.
It was on the fourth and final of the actual attack traps that Chase messed up. His hand slipped while drawing the pentagram but he kept on going hoping that it wouldn't matter. He should have known better but was too tired and simply wanted to get it over with. When he finished the incantation instead of glowing briefly and then disappearing into the wall like the other ones had its glow kept increasing until it was shining. He could tell it was about to explode.
Chase tried desperately to get away from it. In his panic he screamed out, "Symud trosglwyddo tywyllwch" Suddenly the whole world seemed to twist around him and he vanished into a twisting tunnel of darkness.
Chase woke up later to find himself on the opposite wall unharmed by the explosion. He tried to collect his thoughts. The last thing he remembered was disappearing into a dark tunnel that seemed to shift around him. Suddenly he realized what had happened. He had teleported across the room to escape the explosion. He couldn't believe it. True he had read about teleporting but he hadn't wanted to try until after he had mastered using traps.
Chase murmured "Symud trosglwyddo tywyllwch" again. Once more he vanished into a dark tunnel and reappeared on the other side of the room with another drop in his stamina. This was amazing. True it took up a good amount of energy but teleporting could be used in any number of ways to make himself stronger. Unfortunately now he was exhausted.
Chase returned back to his home to sleep knowing that the next day he would return and stretch the limits of his new magics.

Brilliant Chase, this is your best training post to date! The idea was really originial. I liked the idea of the blood sacrifice, and it was written really well. If I had to find fault, the only thing I'd say is be careful that you don't start all of your paragraphs with 'Chase...', but like I said, that's being picky because otherwise it'd be perfect.
You have reached the level of magician!

Chase strode through the sewers manipulating a breeze around him so that he didn't have to smell the awful smells that pervaded the place. Several rats scurried away as he approached, they had learned what happened if they got to close to him. Rats were smart animals and he had only had to kill a few for them to get the hint. Stay away from him.
Chase entered his lair and went immediately to the back wall where a shelf of books on magic rested. He pulled out one which had a half eclipsed sun on its cover. He had to admit the coven that had once been here had quite an extensive library. This particular book was a guide on dark mages learning light magic. He had found it on his most recent trip but only now had time to actually try any of the spells in it. Now that he had achieved his magehood in black magic he knew he had to move on fast if he wanted to get ahead of Dreamer. Even though he felt that there was more more that he could learn in black magic he needed to get a move on.
Opening the book Chase started reading even though it was pitch dark in the room. Ever since he had started practising black magic he had been able to see perfectly in the dark. Finally he found a spell that looked like it could be useful and wasn't supposed to be too hard. "Golau llosgi" He chanted. If the spell worked a small ray of light would burn everything in came in contact with.
However instead of a ray of light coming out instead darkness shot from his hand. Chase was about to cancel the spell when he noticed that in the center of the darkness was a thin streak of light stood. Both the darkness and the light were slowly burning a whole in the ground but it still wasn't the result he had wanted. He tried to expand the light but found that he couldn't. What was wrong? He wondered. He had concentrated all of his thought into creating a destructive beam of light. Why had he instead gotten darkness and an incredibly tiny ray?
Realization struck Chase like a thunderbolt. He had concentrated too much on the destruction aspect of the light. Sure it could be destructive but overall light was a much more supporting element than darkness which was all about destruction. Chase's mistake lay in that. He had called for destruction and light, which was what he had gotten, just not in the way he had wanted. He still needed to learn to differentiate between his different types of magic so he wasn't accidentally calling up the wrong type.
"Golau llosgi" Chase tried once more this time trying to visualize a golden light instead of destruction. This time the light spilled from his hand and scorched the desk he was reading on. Chase cancelled the spell and then returned to the book looking for more spells he could use. He had all night to learn about his new form of magic.

Accepted Chase, are you now training in White Magic? If you are, you have reached the first level of novice! It's a change to see Chase back at a desk training in his magic, as your last training posts have been very action filled! Well done, I like how you bring in aspects of Chase's other types of magic, and have them interfere with learning a new kind.
