The pitch black of darkness covered the distant lands within its eerie night as the evening drew on. Castle Camelot stood tall and proud as its mighty walls surrendered themselves to the ever lasting shadows of the night, torches were light at different sections of the castle. Their soothing but powerful heat and light of the flames sliced threw the darkness like a sharp knife cutting some freshly baked bread, freezing winds blew with great agility and dexterity across all of Camelot as its chilly embraced mixed itself into the shadowy darkness of night. Beyond the protection of the courageous stone walls and deep within the castle itself a large room stood as silent as a newly awakened lake, the servants that watch over the confident castle were sleeping soundly and peacefully. However one was not so lucky, this was young Selena Fireheart. A teenage girl with elemental abilities in the arts of magic, her mind refused to conjure up some peaceful dreams. Instead the evil and cruel nightmares invaded her mind and preyed on her confidence, however it was her eyes that saved her and immediately she sat bolt up right in her bed breathing heavily and panicky.
Tiny drops of sweat formed downwards from her face as she looked around at walls of the servants quarters. Though her confidence took a mighty blow from the nightmare Selena refused to give into it, sitting up she sighed and looked out towards a window. Its archway like gaze zoomed over into the darkness of the evening, with a sigh she moved quietly but swiftly from her bed and got dressed while grabbing her long hooded cloak. Looking at her fellow servants Selena’s thoughts moved around in her mind as she thinking, but she slowly headed northwards towards the front door and ever so gently opened it until there was enough room for her to squeeze past. There she did just that and closed it as softly as she could, as stood within the craftsmanship of one of but many hall ways Selena immediately headed west while gently placing her long hooded cloak gently around her shoulders and huddled herself deep within its gentle warmth.
Bitterness of the chill and the graceful cold of the wind battered her as Selena moved towards the Magicians guild. The hood of her long cloak provided the only shelter to against the softness and cold of the snow and the mighty chills of the winds, however sanctuary against the winter cold and chills were provided by the warmth of the gentle walls of the guild. Pulling her hood back down Selena quietly walked towards the library and gently began to study until she was not able to keep awake anymore….
Darkness soon was defeated the light of a new morning. But the cold winter weather refused to yield to the command of the morning, embracing the morning Selena was up and about but she had something else in mind. With permission from his Majesty King Uther Selena was permitted to leave Camelot for a few days so that she could train without hurting anyone, being given a horse Selena used its deep travelling bags attached to the saddle to give her some much need supplies. Although she was given permission to leave Selena promised to do more hard work when she returned, and so the grace and swiftness of her horse guided Selena out of Camelot and rode down towards the pathways. Her long hooded cloak provided her with a warmth embrace against the ever persisting cold of the winter weather, she guided her horse eastwards and to a small clearing that showed the mighty but tall constructs of the mountains.
However even the strength of the mountains yielded to the winter weather as snow covered its peaks. Eventually her journey came to the majestic beauty of a large forest; Natures true calling was completely dominated by the winter weather. Her horse felt abit nervous at first but Selena encouraged it and slowly the two moved quietly threw Natures creations, however Selena was not alone…. Leaves began to slowly but only just slightly move, the young teenager thought it was just the winter wind but it was something else. Deeper they went into the sure beauty and radiance of the trees and the gentleness of the grass, bushes and leaves, however Selena’s eyes slightly narrowed and stopped her horse. Looking at her surroundings Selena slowly got off her horse forcing her long hooded cloak to slightly open, however as she stood on solid ground she immediately closed her cloak and took 7 steps forwards.
After the seventh step her senses proved right. Climbing down from the distant trees around her were large eight legged spiders, followed by a giant scorpion, Selena’s horse reared backwards in complete fear. However Selena didn’t back down an inch and stood tall and confident the spiders soon appeared in their dozens and completely surrounded the young teenager, the giant scorpion crawled forwards as if it represented the spiders and revealed its deadly stinger tail. Then in a sudden movement it raised its tail and thrusted forward towards Selena’s face. But the tail stopped centimetres away from touching Selena’s skin, just then a few of the spiders raced forwards and jumped onto Selena forcing her to the ground. Things looked back for the loyal servant of Castle Camelot however not everything was as it seems, strangely Selena wasn’t actually being attacked by the giant spiders. They were in fact tickling her! She cried out in laughter as the spiders were doing their best to actually make her cry out in totally laughter, Selena said “ HAHAHAHAHAH! Come on you guys I miss you too! Heh not the feet!â€. The spiders soon pulled themselves free from the downed Selena allowing her to stand up, she smiled happily and brushed snow off her long hooded cloak, looking towards the scorpion she just smiled and rubbed its hard shell above its face. She did the same to the others spiders and soon met another friendly face. A man wearing a hooded robe approached carrying a staff, the spiders moved to one side and watched as he and Selena hugged “ Teacher! I’ve missed you so much!â€. The hooded man in his late thirties smiled and said, “ As have I my child come let us head backâ€. With a wave to the spiders and scorpion she followed her druid mentor back towards the Druid Camp.
As her horse was happily feeding and drinking Selena sat down beside her mentor inside a small tent like hut made out of wood. Her mentor soon offered her some fresh stew and water and she happily dug into her food, after a few laughs and smiles Selena soon got down to business and spoke seriously to her mentor “ Teacher I need your guidance once more. I have joined the Magicians Guild in Camelot. But will you help me train and develop my magic?â€. Her mentor sighed and stared hard into her eyes, he saw the determination to be great just like her father but he didn’t see greed within her eyes. The greed to grave for more power, with a smile he replied “Of course child Iwill help you in anyway I can come let us beginâ€. Selena stood upwards and followed her mentor deep into the forest. Soon they stopped and the spiders once again appeared, standing proud Selena’s mentor sighed and said, “However the training must be done on your own. You have your fathers potential young one. Trust in Nature and it will return the favourâ€. Looking towards the spiders he nodded to them and instantly they began making large thick like webs that slowly began to appear in front of the heavily cloaked Selena.
He soon said “ Remember what I have taught you young oneâ€. And soon Selena’s mentor walked back to the druid camp. Soon the spiders finished they’re weaving and fled to one side, looking focused she even took off her heavy but warm cloak and gently placed it on a nearby tree. As the cold weather blew across Selena’s entire body she did her best to ignore it and slowly closed her eyes. Slowly she opened her minds eye and pictured a giant cloud forming in her mind, bolts of thunder and lightning erupted like heavenly swords being pulled away from their sheaths, the spiders watched as Selena’s conducted electricity until it was formed into the true element of thunder. Focusing on her mind she cuffed her hands together and then opened her eyes and pushed forwards unleashing a bolt of thunder towards the web, the thunder bolt raced forwards and slammed into the web like giant spear.
The thunder coursed threw the web and soon collapsed as it burst into flames. The spiders used their stinky fluids to put out the flames, instantly Selena smiled happily. Looking towards the spiders she said “ Say can you guys do that again for me? I would like to train some moreâ€. Indeed the spiders did exactly that which allowed Selena to train using the same technique more times, hours past and soon a weakened Selena walked back to camp wrapped within the folds of her hooded cloak, feeling exhausted she sat down near her mentor. A smile he said, “ Rest now my child we have much to do in the morningâ€. Soon Selena happily laid down on a soft mattress and fell asleep within the folds of her own hooded cloak.

Far from the great lengths to Camelot the snow of purity had all but vanished leaving in its wake the beauty of Nature. Albion was once again alive with brimming with colour, life and serenity, flowers bloomed freely and the distant animals were happy amongst their homes. All was at peace, even the citizens of Camelot welcomed the warmth of the sun and the grace of the of the beautiful blue skies, far to the east within the depths of the great forest the gentle but hidden encampment of the druids continued to be one with Nature. In the middle of the camp stood a brightly light fire and a man in his late fifties tending a pot which was simmering at a steady temperature, inside the pot a stew leaked out its fresh smell across the camp. The man stirred it gently with a wooden spoon; soon emerging northwards from where he stood was a young teenage girl. Selena Fireheart a servant at Castle Camelot she had been given permission to be away from Castle Camelot to train in the ways of magic.
Now her training continues only this time things would be a little different. Wearing her flowing brown dress Selena walked over to her teacher and knelt down beside him, the man said “ Good morning my child! Did you rest well?†Selena silently stretched out her arms and gently spoke from her heart “ Yes but I had another nightmare about my parentsâ€. The man gently placed a hand on Selena’s shoulder and felt sorry for his young student, with a tiny smile he said, “ Do not let the past haunt your heart child. Your mother and father loved you very much never forget that. Here eat this you will need strength for your next trainingâ€. The old man gently held out a fresh bowl of stew towards Selena, who happily dug into her breakfast.
A few minutes later Selena and her teacher stood up from the fire and said “ You have taken your first steps my child but there is much work to do. Come! Grab your possessions! We will be going on a journeyâ€. Selena bowed in respect and went back to her temporary home, taking everything that she needed Selena emerged carrying her long hooded cloak and a few other items. Soon they marched northwards and headed towards the mountains, as they journeyed together Selena said “ Teacher? What was my mother like?†The old man smirked happily as though he nearly laughed, but he soon took control of his feelings and said, “ I knew that you were going to ask that question one day. Your mother was a peasant without much money. But she had a strong will and excelled in the arts of survival. But deep down she was a good personâ€. They soon began to climb upwards and together they helped each other to climb some rocks, finally after several hours they emerged towards a cliff edge.
Looking downwards was a large cave. The old one pointed towards the cave and said,“ We are here at last my child come this wayâ€. Selena followed him down a steep pathway which led downwards towards the cave, as they stood before the entrance he said to his student “ This very cave shall be your next training area. Inside this very cave is a box. I want you to go inside the cave and retrieve it for me, however it is filled with complete darkness, and drops that will kill you instantly, Use what you have learnt so far, to survive this cave and bring me the boxâ€. Selena looked towards the cave, it looked spooky but she had her father’s courage. But before Selena entered the cave he stopped Selena and gently took her long hooded cloak and folded it in two.
The old one said “Remember what I have taught you my childâ€. Selena stood and slowly began to think of a way for her to see into the darkness while avoiding the falls and the cold feel of the rocks, but she thought that the only way to succeed was to somehow light the path before her! That was it! The training from yesterday! With a smile she slowly held out her hand and began to concentrate, her body began to conduct pure lightning and thunder; the path of the thunder and lightning flowed from her feet upwards to her legs and finally up towards her arms and finished at her open hands. Using her will power she formed the lightning and thunder into a ball which appeared more quickly then when she first showed Merlin. With a face of determination she looked at the glowing ball and said, “ Please lend me your everlasting lightâ€. Then she slowly she removed hand hoping the ball of lightning and thunder will float in mid air, but it simply dropped to the floor and dispersed. Selena felt disappointed but she never gave up, while trying over and over again the old one sat down on a nearby rock with a smile on his face.
The young teenage sighed and slowly looked at her hand “ Please I beg of you! Lend me your light so that I may become stronger both in body and in spirit! I ask of you! Pleaseâ€. Selena spoke with all that her heart could muster, finally after several hours of trying the ball of energy floated in mid air and stopped just above Selena’s head, with a smile the old man clapped his hands and stood up “ You have your mothers determination that is good! Come the cave awaits!†Selena nodded and slowly she entered the cave, the orb of lightning and thunder pierced the darkness like a mobile torch. Breathing in and out slowly and trying to focus Selena headed deeper into the darkness of the cave, indeed the light and power of the orb gave Selena’s sight more help in seeing.
Due to its powerful light Selena avoided some deep holes. Being extra careful she pushed onwards until finally she stepped into an oval shape like area, inside was a two lit torches and a wooden box which stood in the middle of the two lit torches which were attached to the cave walls. With a smile she headed towards the box and noticed a unique design on it, it was of a circle etched with a design of castle walls into it. On top of the circle was a dragon, wondering what it meant Selena took the box carefully into her hands and quickly headed back while being careful along way. Finally she emerged from the cave carrying the box in her hands; looking at the orb she smiled and even said, “ Thank you so muchâ€. The orb disappeared instantly leaving her teacher to walk over to her.
Holding out her hands Selena gently handed the old one the box. With a smirk he laughed happily and shook Selena’s hair, soon they headed back to the druid camp, which took several hours. After returning back home the old man said to his student “ You have done well Selena come let us have dinner there is much more I can tell you about your parentsâ€. With a smile he placed an arm gently around Selena’s shoulders and together they walked towards the centre of the camp and head some freshly made stew with herbs. Night soon drew over the camp and forest like a flowing blanket, Selena who was wrapped in her hooded cloak watched her mentor studying the box carefully. Wondering what he was doing Selena asked “ Teacher? Is there something special about this box?â€
The old one turned towards her student and said, “ It was your mothersâ€. Selena’s eyes widened in amazement, why was a box that belonged to her mother being in a cave? Selena’s mentor walked over towards her and sat down in front of her, handing her the box she said, “ Open itâ€. Removing the cloak from around her body Selena stared at her teacher and then at the box, looking focused she opened the box and found single pendant inside. The pendant had a large gemstone etched in the middle which sat inside a pentagon, Taking it in her hands the old one said “ This pendant belonged to your mother, the gem that you see was forged by your fathers magic. It represented the love that he had for your mother, it is not enchanted but I simply thought you should wear it to honour your mother as you do your fatherâ€. Selena gazed at the gemstone and soon she clenched it tightly and silently prayed, closing the box Selena felt nearly tearful and said, “ Thank you Teacherâ€. With a smile the old one gently gave Selena knock on the chin with his fist and soon said, “ Rest now child! Your training will be more difficult. Rest wellâ€.
As he left the tent quietly Selena sighed and once again she lay down and pulled her cloak around herself like a blanket. With a sigh the teens gently feel asleep, as she did so her mother’s pendant, which sat, near her sparkled in a star shape formation

This was a good lengthy post. I liked the inclusion of a NPC as her teacher, and the little extras about Selena's past made it enjoyable to read. You have now reached the level of apprentice!

High above in the heavens the sky slowly turned to pure gold. Glimpses of red and orange also appeared within the heavens, there rising from the ground slowly was the burning power of the sun as dawn was breaking to signal the start of a brand new day across all of Albion. The colours of red, gold and orange slowly disappeared without a trace leaving a bright sea of blue sky to fill the Heavens within its peaceful serenity, pure snow white clouds loomed over the blue sea like sky as though boats and ships traversed its calm nature. The magnificent grace of the sun shone brightly like a crystal clear ruby and shone its warm like rays shone down across the beautiful creations of Nature itself, tree’s, plants, grass, flowers and rivers basked in the glory that was brought before them. Beyond the gentle but tall forces of the forests lied the quiet and serene camp of the Druids, once again standing before the centre was the one simply called "Teacher". The soft touch of his hands moved a wooden spoon as he stirred it inside a pot filled to the brim with fresh vegetables, who was bubbling nicely under a good fireplace.
Appearing out of her tent once more was the young magic user in training Selena Fireheart. As she emerged from her temporary home she stretched out her arms and legs followed by a yawn, covering her yawn with her hand the young servant at Castle Camelot moved southwards towards Teacher and knelt down beside him. Looking focused the man known as Teacher looked towards his young student and said "Good morning child! How did you fare in your dreams last night?". Wearing her mothers dress which fitted her perfectly Selena smiled back, around her neck was the pendant that had once belonged to her mother. Feeling ready to begin a new day of training she said "I actually slept better then I thought". Teacher simply smiled and handed Selena a bowl of freshly made vegetable soup, his young student soon dug into breakfast and so did her mentor.
Now that breakfast had passed Selena stood up and looked towards her mentor. Teacher looked focused and spoke to Selena "You have trained in the arts of offence and used the power to illuminated the darkness. What would you like to train in next my child?" Selena knew it was a pretty good question, the first training session would be useful against monsters and creatures of magic, the second in the darkness. Perhaps the third should be more different? Then an idea appeared inside her mind like a light bulb being turned on, clicking her fingers Selena looked towards her mentor and said, "I know just the very thing to use for my next training". Teacher grinned happily and said, " Then lead the way". Grabbing his staff Selena and Teacher walked side by side eastwards threw the forest; soon they came to a small clearing where her first training session took place.
Teacher watched from afar as Selena studied a few of the trees around the surrounding area. With a smile she turned her gaze back to her mentor and said, "I am thinking about training in defence. For example if I was captured by bandits or slave trader I can try to use the power of lightning and thunder to remove anything that may bind my arms and legs. And then use it to destroy the lock on any locked doors or chests". With a smirk on his face Teacher had to admit it would be a useful technique and would be important to her when facing a situation where she would indeed be captured for real. Using his staff he slammed it down hard causing the calling of the giant sized spiders, they crawled across the floor at fast speeds while others swung down from the trees above, Selena happily watched as her crawling friends appeared around her and her mentor.
Kneeling down before the giant spiders she said, "I could really use your help again guys. And I promise when the training is done you can tickle me if you like". The spiders quickly dispersed leaving a handful behind; heading westwards slightly Selena soon opened out her arms pointing her hands westwards and eastwards. Putting her feet apart Selena nodded to the spiders, soon they activated their inner webbing’s and fired a thick strand of white web and wrapped themselves around Selena’s wrists and ankles. They kept up the firing of the webbing until the binding of her wrists and feet were nice and tight so that Selena could move at all. She could feel the stickiness of the webbing and tried to move her arms and legs but they refused to move. With a smile of gratitude on her face towards the spiders Selena slowly closed her eyes and felt relaxed, inside her mind Selena gently spoke out some words "Oh Great Swords of the Heavens please lend me your strength once more. Grant me the strength and courage to help me in my training! I ask of you with all my heart please!"
As though the Heavens responded Selena saw a picture of a giant storm cloud appearing in her mind. Thunder and lightning struck together and soon she opened her eyes. Focusing on her mind Selena’s body conducted the powers of lightning and thunder as it flowed across her body freely, without hurting her skin upon contact. Teacher watched in amazement as her student began her training. With the power of lightning and thunder flowing through her Selena began to concentrate and tried to push the lightning and thunder towards the webbed up wrists and ankles. It took her several hours of concentration but finally it surged into the webbing and melted them away allowing Selena to move freely. Once free Selena sighed in relief and smiled at her crawling friends.
But she soon went back to do it all over again. This latest for several more hours, finally having enough of that part of the training session the spiders dashed over towards Selena, tackled her to the ground and began to tickle her once again! The young teen cried out in laughter while Teacher watched happily. Several minutes late the spiders stopped allowing Selena to stand up and stroke the tops of their hands, looking down at her pendant Selena said "Teacher did you know my mother?" Her old mentor sadly shook his head in shame but he walked over to Selena, shrugging his robed shoulders he said, "I did not know your mother because she was dying when she arrived at the camp. She died of natural causes but before she passed on she held a baby in her arms and wanted me to take care of her". Selena sighed in sadness but Teacher placed a hand on Selena’s shoulders and said "That baby was you Selena. I will never know your mother but I did know that she was courageous, strong willed and loved you with all her heart".
Selena placed on a tiny smile and sadly nodded "Thank you for telling me that Teacher". Soon the young teenager went back to her training, picking up a small rock she handed it to her mentor and said, “ Now that the binds have been removed I just need to train how to destroy a lock. This rock will be a perfect example of oneâ€. With a smirk her mentor placed the rock onto a bigger one to help it stand up, walking over towards the rock Selena once again stood still and began to focus, once again the storm cloud formed into her mind. Then opening her eyes Selena pointed one of her fingers towards the small rock and began to focus hard, the power of lightning and thunder reached into her pointing finger and glowed slightly. As her finger conducted the powers of lightning and thunder the young Selena focused on moving the lightning and thunder into a small quick energy burst to try and destroy the rock. It took her several minutes but finally a small burst of lightning and thunder flew straight into the rock and exploded on impact. Luckily it was a very tiny one, looking at the tiny rock Selena happily grinned as it revealed a smoking whole, with a smirk Teacher picked up another rock and placed it before Selena. And so this session went on for several hours until the sun was setting signalling the veil of darkness to cover the heavens bringing nightfall, with a wave good bye to her spider friends Selena and Teacher headed back to Camp. Sitting down before the fire Selena looked unhappy, finishing talking to his fellow brothers and sisters of the druids Teacher gently placed Selena’s long hooded cloak around her shoulders. With a tiny smile she wrapped herself up into its warm folds and watched as her mentor gently sat in front of her.
The young teenager said, "Mother died trying to protect me. She must have travelled a great distance from Camelot. (Sigh) Teacher did you know my father?" Her old mentor nodded in complete confidence and replied "I know your father well my child it was I who trained him how to use his magic". Selena gasped in complete shock but she soon put a smile on her face, it seemed that she was following the path that her father had taken all the long. There was an old saying "Like Father like Son". But in this situation it was "Like Father, Daughter". Slowly standing up Selena held her hooded cloak tightly around herself and said, "Thanks for telling me Teacher good night".
Teacher replied back "Good night my child and rest well tomorrow will be more difficult you will need much more rest." Slowly nodding her head in pure focus Selena headed back to her tent and lay down on her mattress while still wrapped up in her hooded cloak. And slowly drifted off into a peaceful slumber.

Nature’s greatest creation of life was at its zenith once again. The wilderness surrendered to the beauty and serenity of trees, plants, and grass and of course the kind-hearted animals that thrive within Albion. Flowers continued to show their frail but gently petals of many different colours of a rainbow, the heavens above were as calm and peaceful as ever while pure snow white clouds ensured that the sky was just as happy as Nature. Far out into the deepest regions of the local forest the familiar sight of the Druid camp continued to make its home within the gentle shades of the tall trees, time had passed since leaving the wondrous city of Camelot. And as the days went by and many training sessions later young Selena Fireheart was really getting the hang of things, once more a gentle smoke rose into the air from the cooking pot on a bright sunny morning within the druid camp. Stirring the cooking pot gently the man known only as Teacher calmly watched the pot like a hawk while making sure breakfast was cooked nicely.
Just south of the cooking pot lied the familiar tent of Selena Fireheart. Emerging out of her tent the young teen stretched out her arms and gently yawned which made her cover her mouth as she yawned. Walking over to her mentor the young girl smiled and knelt down beside him “Good morning teacher!†The old man happily gave his star pupil as big smile and once again handed her a bowl of freshly made soup, with a smile back she happily dug into her breakfast, as Selena did this Teacher sighed happily and said “ Good morning my child! There is something I must tell you before we continue your trainingâ€. Standing up slightly he walked over towards Selena and sat down beside her, there he said “ Child you have progressed much in your training and it won’t be long until I cannot teach you anymore. How do you feel this morning?†The young Selena finished up the last of her stew and happily said “ I feel great actually Teacher! Don’t know why though? I must have gotten enough sleepâ€.
The old man nodded and said, “ Your training begins right away as normal. So far you have made a spell to penetrate the darkness, you forged an attack spell, and finally you created a spell that will help you if you are trapped or captured. What other means can you use your elemental connection to Nature?†Selena thought for a moment and wondered what else she could do with her magic? The young teen may have her mother’s courage but she also had her father’s wisdom, clicking her fingers she turned towards her teacher and said “ Teacher! I think I may have come with something elseâ€. Standing up slightly she nodded to her mentor who stood up also; the old man could see it in Selena’s eyes that an idea had hit her once more.
With a smile she nodded and followed Selena eastwards of the Druid encampment. As they marched towards the same clearing from the second training session she stopped and said, “What if I was surrounded by a group of bandits and thieves?†The old man calmly stood on a small rock with ease and lifted his right eyebrow with a curious thought, and then the young teenager pointed towards the heavens and the old man soon learned what Selena was thinking. It was going to be a real struggle but he knew that Selena had what it takes and soon stepped back, with another nod to her mentor the youngster gently stood still and calmed her muscles and body. There she slowly closed her eyes and began to concentrate, as she began to concentrate she began to believe in herself and her magical abilities, the old man watched as Selena began to conduct thunder and lightning across her body, face, hair and arms.
But then she broke her concentration and fell to one knee. She breathed in heavily as it was a pretty dangerous spell she was trying to make, however she made a promise to King Uther that she would return in a few days time and by that time she would be someone just like her father. Gritting her teeth Selena stood back up to her feet and continued once again Teacher began to picture in his mind about the spell, it was a strong spell that harnesses the strength of lightning and thunder. When surrounded by the enemy Selena had hoped to use lightning to strike the surrounding area to put fear into their hearts just showing them that she was not just a wondering teenage girl, with a smirk she watched Selena carefully. Hours went by and slowly but surely Selena grew ever closer to perfecting the spell, however Selena was determined to never give up.
Putting her faith in herself and her ally of Nature Selena raised her arms into the air. Once more her body began to conduct the power of lightning and thunder as it coursed freely across her body like a snake. Even though it was truly the element of Thunder and Lightning it never once hurt Selena in anyway, pointing her head into the sky. Soon a strong wind began to blow across the forest, the old man watched as a strong wind began to appear, soon the brightness of the sun soon disappeared as large black clouds quickly formed together blocking out the suns rays. Soon the heavens themselves were covered and the two holy swords of the heavens appeared in noise and in appearance, the power of lightning flashed into the sky followed by the bang of its ally Thunder.
As the two elements clashed together a loud burst of lightning crashed itself eastwards of Selena and then westwards. The spell was not meant to be used to attack was merely a way to stop a horde of enemies or bandits thus causing them to either to be blown away by the lightning strike or to put fear into their souls. With the spell finally complete Selena sighed in relief and looked upwards into the heavens, putting a smile on her face she said, “ Thank you my friendâ€. And with another thunder and lightning strike or two it soon disappeared instantly revealing the blue sky, but her training had taken hours to perform and it was dark once again. The old man clapped his hands in pure joy and said “ A distraction but yet an attack spell…another spell I have not seen beforeâ€. With a smile she guided his pupil back to the druid campment.
Back home once again Selena sat down near her mentor beside the fire. Teacher gently placed Selena’s long cloak around her shoulders and gently sat down beside her, with a sigh he said “ My child I am proud if your accomplishments. You have grown much stronger since you came back to the encampment. Tomorrow you will take your final training sessionâ€. Selena gently snuggled down deep into her hooded cloak and silently stared into the fire, gently the old man pushed his clenched knuckle into Selena’s shoulder and said “ And you will be able to return to King Uther and fulfil your promise to himâ€. With a sigh Selena gently said, “ I am feeling nervous about tomorrow. It would mean I’d have to go back to Camelot and I’d miss you guysâ€.
The old man gently snickered and said “ You may be leaving tomorrow but it doesn’t mean its forever! This is your home my child!†With a smile Selena gave her mentor a loving hug and soon stood up once again while holding her hooded cloak around herself, with a gentle nod she said “ I better get some sleep I will need it for tomorrow! Good night Teacherâ€. The old man calmly watched Selena head back to her tent, with one last smile for tonight he said, “ Rest well child. It looks like it going to be a stormy night. Looking up into the heavens his words became true as the storm clouds once again appeared but it wasn’t Selena’s doing. As thunder and lightning struck in the Heavens a smile crept up on the sleeping Selena as she fell into a gentle slumber with the confines of her hooded cloak.

Many days and weeks had passed since the promise was made to King Uther. A servant promised him to return to her duties after a month of magical training in order to control the power within her, with aid from her mentor Teacher and her own determination Selena Fireheart over the past few days began to slowly grow up. Her magical connection to the elements grew stronger with each training session; she overcame all obstacles she created to become a better person, magically and physically. And like father like daughter Selena never gave up and just like her mother the courage and strength of her heart was stronger then ever, but now Selena must overcome her biggest challenge in her young life. The sun once again appeared over the serene lands of Albion, far from Camelot was a large forest to the east, beyond its peaceful creations stood the familiar campsite of the druids.
Within the very heart of the camp its occupants gathered around a small but brightly burning fire. In the south west of the camp lied a large tent that had been Selena’s home for many days and weeks, but the tent was nearly empty. Everything inside was gone apart from Selena of course, the young teen stood just outside with her arms folded. She felt really nervous for some reason but she calmly watched the group gathering of the druids where her mentor sat, he talked them for about ten minutes and was soon nodding his head towards his fellow brothers and sisters. Standing up Teacher marched over towards Selena and said " I have spoke with the others and they all agree. It is time for you to leave the Druid camp because your final test awaits on the outskirts of Camelot, I will travel with you until the test is achieved”. Placing a hand on Selena’s shoulders he smiled and then pointed his hand towards the other druids.
The others stood up and walked towards Selena. Soon they surrounded her and gently said their good byes with hugs, shaking hands and nodding, and with a goodbye wave Selena walked calmly with her mentors beside her. As they entered the depths of the forest, the giant spiders emerged in their dozens, followed by a giant scorpion. With a smile the teen walked over towards the spiders and gently knelt down a single tear trickled down her eyes but Selena shook it off and gently stroked each spider with her hands. The spiders happily took in the gentleness of Selena’s hand even the giant scorpion happily obliged and literally it shook its tail with Selena’s hands, missing them already she waved to them and headed towards the exit of the forest. As they walked Selena said " Teacher I will I ever be like my father?” Teacher just smirked happily and nodded his head while saying " My child you are more of your father then you realise”.
He let out a little chuckle and placed a hand on Selena’s shoulders as they walked. As they marched towards Kings road and heading northwards towards Camelot they soon stopped. The teen wondered why Teacher wanted her to stop in the middle or the most popular road for travellers, Teacher nodded to Selena and said, “Now we must wait”. Selena looked and felt confused but her confusion soon disappeared as the sound of a galloping horse approached them, the hoof’s of the horse soon stopped trampling the ground beneath its legs and came to a complete halt. There was silence for a few minutes but it ended with the sound of footsteps, the snapping of twigs and the brushings of bushes. Teacher looked down towards his young pupil and placed a smile of glee on his face, emerging from the serenity of the forests was none other then Merlin himself who happily smiled towards both student and pupil. Selena looked surprised and said “M, Merlin is that you? HA! It’s so great to see you”. The future legend of Camelot smiled as he saw Selena for only a second time. It felt as though it had been an eternity since she had last saw Merlin, the two embraced each other in friendship and pulled away. Merlin turned towards Teacher and slowly the two nodded in respect, but his attention was now on Selena and said to her " Its good to see you Selena, It certainly has been awhile. Vergas as been telling me about your progress through your training from what I read you’ve been doing very well”. Selena simply smiled and looked down to the ground, as she felt shy over Merlin’s compliment. Vergas smiled abit and said, “I have taught Selena everything I know about magic. Her training as been her own and now the time has finally come”.
With a second nod to Merlin he urged Selena and Merlin to follow him eastwards into the forest. Until they arrived at a certain spot in the woods where her training began, Vergas stepped back while Merlin stepped forward and said, “Your training is nearly complete Selena. That is why I am here to oversee your training, once completed. We can head back to Camelot and I’ll decide whether or not you pass the final test, if you succeed. You will become a Mage of the Mage’s Guild. It is the highest rank of our order”. Selena looked abit nervous but she soon nodded quietly and watched as Merlin gently took out a parchment scroll and a ink pen, Merlin smiled and said " Selena please continue with your training as normal”. Stepping back towards Vergas or Teacher to Selena’s eyes, he stood watching Selena like a hawk and calmly stood side by side with Selena’s mentor.
The calm and serenity of the forests made Selena abit more focused. What else could she do to use her powers? As she looked around she picked up a small twig and looked at it, her eyes narrowed and soon she quickly smiled. Nature had given her a perfect way to train her magic, looking around she gently placed the twig on a small rock and stepped back. Vergas and Merlin wondered what Selena had planned but like father like daughter it would be a sight to see, the young teenager closed her eyes then looked at the twig. Focusing her mind the picture of thunderclouds appeared in her mind but she adjusted the picture so that a lightning bolt struck the twig but it didn’t destroy it. Instead it surrounded the twig with its destructive energies. Merlin watched carefully and noticed that Selena’s body was conducting pure thunder and lightning energies around her body without even hurting her, he jointed down what he saw on the parchment and continued to watch.
Then opening her eyes Selena threw her arm towards the twig and fired a blast of lightning. But the blast of lightning only obliterated the twig into nothingness. Selena sighed in disappointment, However she never gave up on her other training session and with her final test on her mind and with Merlin watching she was determined to make a big impression while not showing off. So she picked up another stick and tried again and again, this lasted for hours of training with Merlin watching and Vergas gazing onwards. After one final attempt she lowered her arm and looked up towards the heavens once again and said “Sacred swords of the heavens please listen to my words. I must pass this final test so that I can make my father and mother proud of me. Please share me your knowledge and let us show Merlin and my mentor our bond of friendship!” Just like a response from one person to another Nature herself responded to Selena’s aid, dark clouds loomed over the forest with little problems.
Merlin watched as darkness loomed over the forest. Thunder and lightning struck the sky with their might with their white flashes, down below Selena smiled happily and looked back towards another of many twigs that was used. There she slowly breathed in and out, then just like before her body conduced the power of lightning and thunder like two snakes coiling themselves around her body, then she feeling confident she threw her hand forward towards the twig firing off a blast of lightning and thunder. This time it truly worked as the power of lightning encased itself around the border of the twig, with a smile of joy Selena walked over towards the twig and gazed at it as the thunder and lightning sparkled around the twig. Carefully she placed her hand around the bottom of the twig and held it like a sword, then tightening her grip she twirled around and threw the twig down towards the rock in a sword like slash.
Everyone knew that stone would beat a twig any day. But with the power of lightning and thunder around it, this was going to be a different story; the rock was sliced in two. With a gleeful smile she looked at the twig soon the power of lightning and thunder disappeared without a trace. Vergas and Merlin walked over to Selena and soon saw the darkness disappearing and a ray of sunshine shone over Selena with its ever-beautiful gaze, Vergas gazed at the twig and said “A spell to give a weapon the power of lightning and thunder. An interesting choice of training my child but you have do it once again”. Selena happily smiled towards Vergas while Merlin jotted down a few more notes and said “Very nice spell Selena I admire your determination I am sure that your father would have been proud”. Selena nodded to Merlin and looked up towards the sun with a reply “You know? I think he is Merlin. I think he is”. As she happily watched the warm sun shine over her face.
A few minutes later Merlin, Vergas and Selena stood proudly before the entrance of the Druid campsite. While Vergas went over to talk with his brothers and sisters Merlin looked towards Selena and said “Selena you were fantastic! I’ve got the notes that I need. Now we can head back to Camelot and back to our chores, I just hope Arthur doesn’t get too upset with me being here”. Selena just smiled and watched as her mentor walked back and said, “Your journey still continues onwards my child. The time has come for you to return to Camelot and fulfil your promise”. With a single tear trickling down her left eye Selena walked over to her mentor and gave him a big squelch of a hug “Thank you for everything Teacher!” The old man smirked happily and hugged her back.
As he pulled away from Selena Vergas took hold of Selena’s full-length cloak and gently placed it around his young student’s shoulders. There she gently nudged his clenched fist against Selena’s check and said, “Should you ever need my guidance I will be here. The campsite will always be your home, may the spirit of your father guide your steps”. With a bow of respect to Selena and Merlin he trotted back to the campsite, Merlin smiled and said “So! Ready to head home?” Selena gently nodded his head in happiness and the two walked side by side towards Merlin’s horse, there she sat behind Merlin as he galloped the horse back to Camelot. Soon they once again stepped into the main city of Camelot and slowly headed back to the courtyard, as they jumped down from the horse Merlin sighed happily and said, “You’ve done your very best Selena. I have the notes that I need, I’ll look over them with the messages from Vergas and then I’ll let you know of the outcome. Till then we better get back to work”. He said with a smile as he headed back to the Mage’s guild.
With a smirk creeping on her face Selena simply sighed and headed straight for the castle to report to King Uther to fulfil her promise.

I really liked this post Selena! It was a very good idea to have all of your training sessions as sort of an intensive magic camp with your 'teacher' NPC. Your final idea was well thought out, and a pleasure to read! ............. Congratulations, you have reached the level of MAGE!! You may add the title 'elemental mage' to your signature if you wish. Well done Selena
