Desired Name: Gillianne Auvray
Age: 23
Sex: Female
Appearance: Long, relatively curly, very dark brown hair that falls down to her chest. In contrast to her dark hair eyes, Gill has a ghostly pale complexion. Without make-up this gives her a sickly appearance so she applies liberal rouge to her cheeks (or if that’s not available, pinches herself to get that pink flushed look.) She has quite large dark eyes, giving her a babyish look to her face that doesn’t quite match her personality or figure. In contrast to a relatively delicate feminine face, Gill has quite boyish (although well-proportioned) figure of average height, with none of the womanly curves that she desperately hoped she’d grow into.
A typical everyday outfit consists of a white shirt with a black corset and a floor length grey skirt.
Character: Gill has a relatively well-rounded personality. Most of the time she is friendly, warm and open, enjoying others company more than her own. Not particularly gifted in the brains department, Gill was never one for books, law or math, however she finds her forte in the creative side of things: sewing and painting; she has a good eye for things which are aesthetically pleasing. She doesn’t have a thirst for knowledge, meaning she isn’t a particularly curious or suspicious person, but she has good common sense, enough to get her through any tricky situations which may present themselves.
In the past, Gill was never the outdoorsy or active type- she preferred her home comforts and could be seen as a vain and judgemental. However since her change in situation (see character history) this has slowly changed, she has matured to become more active and in a way, more driven.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
+ Naturally talented artistically, good eye for shape, form and beauty.
+ A good horse-rider, possible the only outdoor activity she enjoys. She loves being with the animals (but not the mucking out etc. that comes with it!) She can only ride side saddle.
+ Straightforward. Says what she means, and is not particularly secretive. A "wears her heart on her sleeve" type (I guess that's a bit of a weakness as well)
-Men. Not only in that way, as Gill genuinely enjoys male company- having only ever had experiences of male friendship from her brothers in the past. And her uncomplicated forward personality appeals to that. However she has a weakness for all those male stereotypes: the bad boy, tall dark and handsome, the joker, the silent type… etc.etc.
-Relatively lazy and unmotivated, not one who wakes up in the morning bright eyed and bushy tailed!
Magic Abilities: I’m not sure if I want Gill to join the Guild or Army yet (I think the army is much less suited to her personality, so would be more of a challenge to RP… If Gill has any magical abilities, she is unaware of them at present.
Weaponary Skills: None, and very little knowledge either. However she does know a lot of people in the profession due to the formal dinners her father would held for the knights and traders.
Character History: Gillianne initially grew up in a wealthy, although not noble, home. Her father came into money as a trader of armoury and weapons several years before she was born and up until the age of 18 she knew nothing else. Her mother (and the baby) was lost in childbirth when Gill was five. Her father and three older brothers are very fond of her, and as the baby and only girl of the family, she was spoiled with beautiful dresses and trinkets. Her father believed that his wife died because of a curse put on her by a gypsy woman years before and so is very intolerant of magic. Her brothers were excellent fighters, practised in all aspects of fighting as they came into contact with a lot of warriors and knights that their father’s business dealt with.
The family lost their wealth and status when peace came to Camelot. Weapons were simply less in demand. Instead the family became an agricultural one, using the last of their money to buy land. Gill’s brothers made the transition well, already in good physical health they quickly took to farming. Gill however was reluctant to leave behind the lap of luxury, beautiful dresses and four poster bed and it took her a good few years to get used to her new life.
Now her eldest two brothers are married to girls from the village and looking to start families, Gill felt the house becoming crowded and happily chose to travel to Camelot, where from his old acquaintances, her father has secured her a job in the castle.
Additional Information: Checking for permission that it is OK for me to have a job in the castle? Either a maid, or in the kitchens?
Sample Roleplay as this character: (Lifted from another RPG site, hope that’s OK) Louise led her horse into the centre of the busy square. People passed them by without even as much as a second glance, and her sense of accomplishment was replaced by an unsettling feeling of isolation. Even though she was surrounded by people, she didn't know anyone here, the city was just so big and she was just one small person. She led the horse to the fountain, where she let it take a much-deserved drink. She had stolen the horse, along with some coins from her father, but she didn't feel the slightest bit of guilt in doing so. Her father had sold her horse shortly after her mother died, and so she felt fully entitled to take a horse from the family stables.
She sunk back into the seats around the fountain, and closing her eyes, leant her head back on the warm stone, content with listening to the babble of activity around her. A few drops of icy cold water hit her face, and her eyes flicked open. Her horse, now quenched was bending over her, it's muzzle still dripping. Louise pushed her gently away, then propped herself up and sat cross-legged facing the horse.
Well, seeing as you’re the only thing I know around her, seems like I better think up a name for you... she mused.
Looking over the horse, she tilted her head to one side waiting for inspiration to hit her.
Louise held both of her sides of the horses reins, gently turning it's head to face her. Two soft brown almond-shaped eyes stared back, drops of water still clinging to the eye lashes.
Right, a name. she thought, drumming her slender fingers against the side of the fountain with growing imapatience. She wasn't good at this sort of thing and fed-up before she had even begun, she decided to look around for inspiration.
Sky? Cloud? ...Drip? she thought, glancing up and then across to the fountain. Already bored, she looped the horses reins around her arm, uncrossed her legs and stretched them out in front of her to warm nicely in the sun. More comfortable, she returned to thinking of names,
What about a colour? she mused, Colours are easy to think of. Brown...y, red...orange, yellow? she curled a strand of hair around her finger as she recited all the colours of the rainbow, humming the simple tune which she'd learnt them to as a child.
Indigo. Hmm, indigo? Indie for short... satisfied for the time being, Louise leant over to stroke the newly named Indie's nose. A loud sigh caught her attention and she threw a glance over her shoulder where a man had sat down behind her. She paused, wondering if this was for her benefit, but when he remained silent, she shrugged and turned back
