The great hall is almost always empty, except for evenings, when it is full of soldiers, drinking and making merry. Of course it is also busy after battles, when it is decked in the royal colours, magnificent spreads of food are laid out and the King himself comes to share in the celebrations. Food is also served here for the soldiers at meal times.
