The sun fell over the eastern mountains, and Aurich shivered as the warmth of its rays disappeared from the forest. His breath clouded in front of him, and he set his mind to his task. 'Light a fire, child. No flint or tinder. Just, magic.'. "What an idiot. I've been trying for ages.
Looking at the wood pile he had assembled, Aurich felt his magic trickle through his veins. He knew the enchantment, it was the only thing he was allowed to study. His magic hummed in anticipation as he called to it. He felt the elements bending to his will, the wind slowing, the brook beside his campsite almost silent, waiting for his command. "Aeledfýr!" Aurich called out, palm glowing red, eyes a bright gold. He heard a spark, then it died as quickly as it began. Sighing, Aurich rubbed his temples, singing his forehead from his fingertips being hot. He grabbed his Theoreum Magica' from his rucksack and flipped to one of the more tattered pages.
'Some students of magic must use an instrument of magic to amplify their powers. They may only need this to release their powers, should they be blocked.' That was it. He needed a staff, something magical. He wasn't completely useless. He immediately grabbed the pendant his mother had given him, and it pulsed with magic as his fingers wrapped around it. The emerald glowed and Aurich unhooked it from his neck, and pointed it towards the wood pile. "Aeledfýr!" Aurich called, and he was overwhelmed by the magic that was channeled into the pendant. It flashed gold as his eyes did, and the fire raged, flames reaching into the sky. Aurich felt a rush of excitement as the magic crackled in the air. He could feel the magic leaking out of him, encircling the area. He could hear the sound of the brook clearly, and he heard voices carried across through the winds.
Two Months Later
Aurich walked into the Guild, cloak billowing behind him, and he placed his hand on a small wooden desk.
"I'm Prince Aurich of Caerleon. What do I need to do to get the best training Camelot has to offer?" Aurich said, in his best Prince-like voice, before he cracked, and smiled at the person who was looking at him dumbfounded. "Oh, a demonstration!" Aurich clenched his fist, and glared at it, feeling the heat rise, before he opened his palm, allowing a small flame to flicker and dance, while he conjured a small bubble of water in his other hand. He brought his hands together, and both disappeared. "I must be part Druid, because the elements simple love me! Aurich said cheekily, the person giving him the raised eyebrow. 'Tough crowd.' Aurich thought to himself, before chuckling madly.
Honestly. I didn't realize how stereotypical the fire thing would be until after I wrote this. I hope this is alright.
