***Before this is read, there are some things you should know. I’m taking a LOT of creative license with this character, because the original program tells us very little about him. I’m taking influence from many different accounts of the Mordred character, from Thomas Malory to Marie de France. As for history...well, that one’s debatable. Some I took from other accounts, some I just made up. Let me know if you disagree with anything, I’m totally open to change.
Desired Character Name: Mordred Gwethyrn (le Fey)
Age: 9 years old
Sex: Male
Class: Druid, powerful enough to be considered highly among his people
Appearance: Mordred’s appearance is one of his more unsettling qualities, and few forget his face. He is pale of complexion, the color of porcelain, and suffers from no facial wear. His lips are pale as death, blending them easily with the coloration of his face. He still has a bit of baby fat, keeping him from looking as fearsome as he might, which gives him an advantage. Mordred stands at four feet and a single inch, weighs 60 pounds, and has a well-groomed mop of dark, dark brown hair on his head. He has a Druid tattoo on his chest. Last but not least, Mordred’s most striking feature are his eyes: they are the clearest ice-blue ever seen, and some have said that his gaze feels as though it pierces the mind. In terms of wardrobe, Mordred is quite simple. He wears a plain white peasant shirt, brown cotton pants, and his signature deep teal hooded cloak.
Character: Living with and being raised as a Druid, Mordred has a more formally intelligent mind than most children his age. He has mastered magic that even adults cannot work, and is all the more powerful for it. However, on the inside, Mordred is still a young boy. His mood and feelings drive his magic, and his most potent spells are all backed by heavy emotions such as love for the Lady Morgana, or hatred for Merlin Emrys.
Mordred feels fear and pain just as much as any young one. His fear is part of what drives him to cling to Lady Morgana. She is the only family he knows, despite not knowing who his real family is- he just knows they have a connection. He clings to her like a child to his mother, which is essentially what he sees. Mama is there to love him, to hold him, and to help him in his endeavours.
His deep emotion stops there, though. Mordred is very territorial, and very defensive. The tiniest thing can set him off, especially if it has to do with magic. Tread carefully around this one.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths:
- very forceful magical ability
- strong grasp of emotion, very little emotional confusion
- deep-rooted feelings. If he loves you, you’ll know, and he’ll be loyal to you forever
- he is manipulative, like his family- if he wants something, it gets done
Weaknesses
- lack of control, cannot grasp his magic when he is too upset
- terrible about holding grudges
- despite the face he puts on, Mordred scares easily. He doesn’t really like loud noises, or surprises
Magic Abilities: Very, VERY strong magical ability due to hereditary sorcery on his mother’s side and Druid magic on his father’s.
Weaponry Skills: None really- Mordred uses his magic as his only weapon. He does want to learn how to use real weapons, though.
Character History:
Mordred is an interesting little boy with an interesting past. By all technicalities, he is only half-Druid, and his mother is Elaine le Fey, sister to Morgause and half-sister to Morgana (Not that Mordred knows this). Considering that Mordred’s father was not Elaine’s husband, he was asked to take Mordred and go. His name was Cerdan, and he was a Druid.
Mordred was always special. His magical powers were remarkable, even among the Druids. He could move objects and speak within his mind even at a very young age, and he had a way of knowing any person’s secret name (for example Merlin “Emrys”, meaning “immortal”- Mordred’s own name is “Gwethyrn”, meaning “supreme king”). However, since he was a young child, Mordred’s powers were (and still are) incredibly unpredictable. His emotional attachments play a very large role in his magic, and his feelings intensify his spells. This makes him a powerful commodity, and one that the Druids have guarded carefully.
When Mordred was eight, his father Cerdan took him to Camelot. He didn’t say why, only that they should stay low and speak to no one. They were unfortunately discovered, and Cerdan was killed in the struggle to leave the city. Mordred himself was badly wounded, and only managed to escape using his magic. He reached out to the strongest magical being he could find- the sorcerer Emrys, commonly known as Merlin. Merlin saved him, taking Mordred inside and hiding him with the assistance of the king’s ward, Morgana. Mordred took an immediate liking to the Lady Morgana, as she was as kind and sweet to him as his own mother might have been. Within their magic, the two of them unwittingly confirmed their relationship, and a bond was formed. Merlin, Morgana, and Prince Arthur risked their lives to help get Mordred out of Camelot and to the safety of the Druid camp, where he lives to this day.
The Druids know Mordred as their precious prince, and they have clung to him like moths to a flame. Now that his Majesty has accepted the use of magic in his kingdom, they are no longer persecuted, and Mordred has taken on a new quest. He wants to find the Lady Morgana, his aunt, and stay with her forever. He wants her to love him, and need him as he does her. Is that so much to ask for in a little boy?

Lauren Grey wouldn’t have been caught dead at a large gathering like the holiday ball, but her younger sister Miranda was quite the social butterfly. She strode into the hall without a single fear or qualm- on the outside that is –and immediately took command of the attentions of some of the more gullible young men there. She was dressed in all black and white. Black miniskirt, white lace-trimmed bodice with black strips and bows, black and white argyle leggings, black fashion boots, and onyx jewelry, all set off perfectly by her flashing pink hair. Miranda was a connoisseur of style, and knew how to get the craziest and most awesome looks for her hair, but tonight she had gone somewhat subtle. Her rosy locks were trapped in two long braids that reached to her waistline, tied off with white bows. Behind her right ear she had pinned a gorgeous white rose, just to add that special touch. All of this with her usual dramatic makeup made quite the impression.
Immediately upon entering, Miranda snapped up one of the Ravenclaw boys who had been staring at her. As they danced, she tried to put on her ‘cool’ face and pretend that his moves were nothing she hadn’t seen before, but he was actually somewhat good. A few minutes after they started, Miranda found herself claimed by a different young man, a Gryffindor boy she hadn’t met. It went on and on that way, with Miranda switching dance partners like crazy, for a good solid hour before she finally excused herself to get a drink- or, she tried to. Her latest dance partner, a Slytherin seventh year that she had seen around but never formally met, insisted that she take a seat on the wall and rest while he brought her a beverage. Laughing at the pretended chivalry of it all, Miranda collapsed into a chair and began surveying the room.
Many faces she recognized- some she even waved at. Miranda did her very best to be a social creature. She knew sometimes she came on too strong, but if she didn’t, she just knew that no one would notice her. Everyone always noticed the rest of the world before Miranda, back before she had made a name for herself at Hogwarts. Now she was the eccentric, psychotic heart of Slytherin shallowness, and damn proud of it. Sure, it probably wasn’t what her parents or sisters expected of her, but who cared what they thought anyway?
Miranda’s ‘friend’ returned with a bottle of butterbeer for her, which she accepted gratefully. She took a few sips, still gazing around the room. Noticing her companion’s wandering to the dance floor again (more specifically a pretty brunette with the grace of a ballerina), she winked and made a shooing motion with her hand. He grinned and took off. Miranda’s attention returned to surveying the room. Her eyes lingered on the bar as she contemplated whether or not they’d deign to give her something stronger…
Her breath hitched in her throat for a moment. There was a handsome young man staring directly at her from his place at the bar…no, wait. That was no man. With the figure that fashion-diva Miranda could discern under the wardrobe, this could only be a lovely young lady. Why, then, would she dress like a man? Miranda knew the most probable answer, and was utterly intrigued by it. This was new.
Well, Miranda always had enjoyed new things. She raised an eyebrow and her butterbeer bottle simultaneously, a silent toast to her new admirer.
