Gray clouds filled the heavens. There was rain to be had a better part of the morning and well into the afternoon. It was suitable for what the day represented. No sun would cast its rays upon the living this day. At least Aslinn hoped against hope that it wouldn’t. Having spent the few days in a daze she could not help but think there was little reason to wish for a smiles and warm wishes. She wanted to be alone and left that way. She had pretty much cut herself off from the rest of her family during this trying time. The death of her brother had called her home from Camelot. There had been little there to keep her, and more for her to return home for.
The rain struck the stonewall of the bailey as she walked along it. Not caring at all if she received the death of cold or not. Idle threats that was all that they were. Her hood was only now starting to sag across her brow. Her skin was cold to the touch, or at least that was what it felt like when her own chilly fingers brushed against her cheek to tuck a wet strand that clung to her cheek. Her mother had tried to talk to her and in failing to do so, sent one of her brothers. Who at this time she did not wish to neither speak nor see. It was more the reason for her being out here. To avoid was in her best interest this day.
Her slender form moved with ease across the parapet of the bailey. She recalled the times that she, along with her brothers would play about the grounds. They had so much fun, not a care in the world. Now look at their lives. They were posted to the furthermost reaches of the world. She could not get to them, and they would not be able to get to her. She was sent to Camelot, for what purpose then to spend her days along and without loved ones. Of course her mother had thought to accompany her back but Aslinn refused her. There was little that Aslinn could hope for in change, and her mother was not going to do that. Even in light of her brother’s death, her mother was now working even harder to find her a suitable husband.
Tears slipped down her cheeks, and were lost in the rain.
