Dark Knight?

The Dark Knight was unrecognizable in his peasant clothes and the mask he wore that covered all but his mouth. Strangest of all he was smiling. He was entertaining children, and he did have a soft spot for children. That and the large amount of alcohol in his system.

"Watch carefully now children!" He said in an excited voice. He rubbed his hands together which formed a spark, and he blew on it causing a tower of flame to erupt from his mouth. He held it for a few seconds before stopping and bowing to the excited, clapping children. He produced an apple from thin air and handed it to a little girl and smiled brightly as she ran off into a crowd of people.

"Come see the man that can swallow flame!" He called to the crowd, waiting for enough people to appear to begin his act.

Katlyn danced up the street, eager to take in as many of the sights and sounds as she could. She loved festivities like this, and the fact that she had no need to pretend tonight made it just that little bit more fun. She wandered slowly between jugglers and acrobats, listening to all types of poetry and music that mingled together in the cold night air, forming a strange sort of song that she quite liked.

It was getting close to midnight though, and Kat had promised her father to be home by then. It meant she had one last performer to see and as she tried to choose between all of the colourful acts int he main street, she was drawn to the cries of a less prominent entertainer.

Heading towards the sound of the voice, Katlyn was almost bowled over by a very exctied little girl, who came racing out of the crowd. She cradled and apple in her hands and seemed to be proclaiming that "he had made it!". Even more intrigued Katlyn sped up and fought her way to the front of the crowd just in time.

What she saw was like nothing she had ever experience before...

Despite the influx of people that had come to Camelot and were staying at the tavern because of the King's 50th birthday, she had been given permission to join in the festivities. Rebecca wandered amongst the performers and participated in some of the games that were being offered. It truly was a joyful time for many. Off in the distance she could see one man in particular entertaining a group of young children. The children certainly were fixated on his each and every trick. It was great to see them having so much fun.

As he got prepared to move onto his next trick the man's voice rose above the crowd enticing people to watch him swallow fire. The thought of that even being possible was enough to intrigue her. Rebecca made her way over to his display but also chose to remain just far enough back that she wasn't being jostled too much by the crowds. She watched with fascination as he prepared to perform the trick.

The Knight smiled as a crowd gathered. After a moment he said "Don't try this one, you'll hurt yourself." He grinned as he pulled a metal rod with a piece of cloth dipped in oil wrapped around the end. He held his hand close to it and snapped his fingers, causing the oil to ignite. He held the flame at arms length and tilted his head back. He slowly brought the flame closer to his open mouth until the burning rag was behind his teeth, then he closed his lips around it. He slowly pulled the extinguished torch from his mouth and bowed.

He held his breath and held a finger up to the crowd, indicating that this was not the last part of his trick. He inhaled through his nose and opened his mouth, and exhaled. A flame about a foot long flew forth from his mouth, which he used to relight the torch.

"How's that?" He said and bowed, "Care to see another?" He asked the crowd while looking at a teenage girl that had appeared to watch his last trick.

"Yes!" Katlyn squealed, "Yes! Do another!"

She loved all types of performance but ones that held a spark of danger...well they were by far the best.
She watched in awe as the man appeared to swallow a flame, exhaling it again moments later to light the torch. It was incredible, and even though Katlyn suspected magic or trickery was behind it, it was fun to believe he really had swallow a flame.

"I wish you could teach me how to do that..." She mused, smiling happily at the entertainer as he looked about the crowd.

"I can't teach you to do that, but you could help me with the next one." He said with a grin and took her by the hand. "Now my beautiful assistant will hold this target" He placed a target in her hand the size of a small dinner plate, and whispered into her ear, "Don't move a muscle." He took several paces back and pulled a throwing dagger out of his belt. "Now this is no trick, just years of practice. Don't blink!" He said with a wide smile as he cocked his arm back and let the dagger fly from his hand. It spun through the air, end over end, until it slammed into the target Katlyn was holding, just inches from her hand.

Katlyn was thrilled when the man offered to have her help his next trick. With a little giggles, she took his hand and gracefully stepped up to where he stood. She curtsied low to the crowd, absolutely loving the attention she was getting being here.

With a puzzled look on her face she took the circular disc from the performers hands and held it as he directed. She closed her eyes to stop herself from blinking, still unaware of what was happening.
Before she knew it she was thrown a step or two back as the dagger slammed into the board.
With a squeal she dropped it to the ground, throwing her eyes open in shock.

"You could have killed me!" She shouted with excitement.
