It was friday morning in Camelot and the winter sun was high in the sky, just starting to melt the hard frost that the nights were starting to leave now. Katlyn skipped up the steps that led from Lower Town to the market, carefully avoiding the little patches of ice that had been left from day old rain and nodding her "good morning" to the few shoppers who were up as early as she.
She was here to do the weeks shopping for her father, and she had come before nine, in the hope that she might avoid the queues and anyone who might recognise her from the castle parties, which she has attended far more than usual lately! In order to assist her in keeping a low profile, Katlynwore a woolen scarf which covered most of her face, and a matching hat, which she had hidden much of her hair beneath. On her arm was a wicker basket, which she hoped to fill with shopping as soon as possible and then be on her way home!
Her first stop was the fruit and vegetable stall, and as she stood waiting to be served by the grocer she heard a strangely familiar, but not particuarly welcomed voice...

Chase walked through the frost to the market. He had stayed up the night before practising magic in his cavern and was now starving. He would have returned to his father's house but chances were most of his servants would still be asleep and breakfast wouldn't be ready for awhile. Chase wanted to eat now!
Chase arrived at the market and looked around at the stalls. Most of the food they offered didn't look very appetizing. After browsing for a bit he finally ended up at a fruit and vegetable stall that offered a surprisingly good variety. However when he reached out to try and test taste one the stall owner flipped at him apperantly thinking that he was trying to steal one. "Don't worry" Said Chase in his most imperial tone "I don't need to steal anything here. I was just testing to see how good this apple was and to make sure that its not filled with worms like most of the fruit here."

Katlyn spun around, finding the insolent boy she had met at the ball a few weeks back. Was there really no limit to how insolent one person could be? She had thought that perhaps he had just been in a bad mood that day at the ball, but now she decided that she was giving him far too much credit. He really was just a pig!
"Do you get a kick out of being rude?" Katlyn asked innocently. She pulled her scarf a little tighter around her face, hoping that Chase wouldn't recognise her. There was no rule to say that a person couldnt attend both balls and market, but she didnt want to have to explain exactly who she was (or wasnt in fact) right now.
"Perhaps you could just buy the apple that you have now poked and prodded and be on your way. It's clear that there are no maggots in any of this stock!" Although she wasn't exactly angry just yet, Kat liked to stand up for those around her- especially in these sorts of situations. She shot the grateful stall owner a smile before turning back to frown at Chase.
"Well?"

Chase smiled slightly at the girl words. Did he get a kick out of being rude? Probably not. Although he did find angry people amusing. Just for the fun of it he decided to prod her anger, "What so you don't?" He asked in a tone that was both patronizing and questioning.
As she continued to talk to him Chase had the the nagging feeling that he had met her somewhere before. It wasn't until she said 'Well' that he remembered. He hadn't been listening to her so he didn't mind not answering her question and instead saying, "Wait I know you! Your Dreamer's second girlfriend. I must say I don't think much of his choice but then I suppose he is pretty desperate."

Katlyn flushed scarlet. For one, she wasn't Dreamer's girlfriend. The idea shocked her to the core- Had Dreamer given some suggestion that she was? No, she decided, this ignorant fool was just trying to cause trouble. Well, two could play at that game!
"Pretty desperate?" She laughed, pulling her scarf off of her head and letting it sit loosely around her neck. "I think you'll find i had to fight damn hard to even get a look in with Dreamer." She tossed her hair over one shoulder and looked Chase directly in the eye. "Us girls like a man with class you know."
Hopefully that would get this idiotic boys back up even more. Now the battle had begun Katlyn was not about to back down.

Chase smiled slightly as the girl flushed at his words. He loved the feeling of power that came from infuriating ones enemies. Once mad they were basically defeated. They couldn't think straight and it would be even easier to show how foolish they were. He would do the same to this girl.
Chase laughed at her next words. "Class?" He said smiling, "And I thought you didn't have a sense of humour. Dreamer works as a halfpenny musician. Give him a coin and I bet he would even dance for you." Chase paused and examined the girl before continuing "Still I suppose you don't know much about the arts considering what your wearing."
