Name:
Asketel Dalziel Endellion First Son Of King Braigham of The Northern Black Mountains
Bit of a mouthful there, he just goes my Asketel, or Asketel Endellion.
Age:
Eighteen
Sex:
Male
Class:
Prince
Appearance:
Hair wise depends if he brushes it or not. Colours easy to do, well I say that but... It’s a mess. It sticks up everywhere. It may look as though it’s never brush, and you’d be right, since it never is. He doesn’t need to brush his hair, for the obvious point that he really doesn’t care. But that’s a little obvious, even to a first glance. He does enough tracking through the brush to just get it messed up by twigs and such like. He does manage to keep it free of twigs, but you can’t help the wind and the rain or the snow. That just messes up a guy’s hair. But, he will brush it and keep it neat for formal occasions, just because he's nagged to. But then again, Asketel never did mind the rugged, messed up look. Gives the look that he’s actually done a days work, and that’s something everyone should think. He does work hard, since he works mostly on his own, and when he was working with a team it’s not usually for long. And it's blonde, you can't really argue with that, it's just blonde. Short, slightly unkempt and blonde.
Dress sense is traditional. He has to wear the ceremonial clothing [which is a deep royal blue tunic with a gold cloak complete with silver edging. The gold tree of the Black Mountain Regions is embroidered on the back]. Although, he doesn't always go round looking like he's attending a feast. No, mostly he'll wear one of the many shirts he happens to have, although he really only wears about four of them. They tend to be plain, either white, beige or the blue of Black Mountains. He also has a surcoat, a long dark brown one which he will take anywhere he can, because he likes it. If you ask if he has a favourite piece of clothing that would be it, except no-one's ever asked him that before. He will wear his armour when he has to, but he won't clank about in it if it's not necessary, that's just useless.
Character:
Ah, oh he loves a good talk does our Asketel. And most people won’t stop him because he is a prince, which is entertaining. In most ways he’s a likeable bloke, and he is more or less likable inwardly too, but some of it’s a bit of an act. He has an easy, open exterior. Sadly that’s an act. He’s always been a bit wary about meeting strangers, don’t ask why, so if he can act it up enough, people ignore it. Its not that he’s rude to others, to tell the truth he’s really pretty polite. He’s very polite to strangers, just because it gain confidence. He can talk like there’s no tomorrow, usually to anyone. But not the sort of tell his life story, just involve himself in a conversation and join. He’s good at doing that.
Asketel knows where his place is and he knows it’s at the front lines. He likes being more of the cast than the backstage crew. He’ll always strive to do his best, or at least what he considers his best. He’s a hard worker, so his best can be rather…more than others. In the Black Mountain Army he pushed his knights when the occasion called for it. However, he knows when to stop. That doesn’t mean he will stop, but he knows when to let others take a breather as not to kill them. He is a man that knows his own boundaries, but he can usually push himself beyond them, even if it’s not his best work that will come out at the end.
He's pretty patient... for heavens sake. He sits in a tree branch all day looking for a deer to come past. That’s got to add up to patient. He doesn’t really mind the solitude as long as he’s going to get something out at the end. Things need to ass up and he can wait forever to make sure they do. He’s not one to believe in coincidences, there’s a reason for everything.
He loves a good laugh does Asketel. He’s got a big sense of humour, could be something to do with the thoughts that constantly fight in his head, but maybe not. It’s rare that he himself gets depressed and if he does, he gets over it quickly, or as quickly as possible, at least that’s what it looks like. Acting is a wonderful thing. Anything involving depression is swept aside and if it can’t be, he keeps it to himself, whatever the cost. He keeps himself in any cases from falling into the pit of depression usually by thinking about life in general. He knows he has a good life, but he can think and that can be dangerous
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Now, Asketel is a good swordsman, he can wield a sword on and off a horse, he's also pretty good at puzzles. Now, there aren't that many puzzles in the Black Mountains, but the ones there are he'll have a crack at. He wants to learn, he strives to do so, but subtly, he doesn't want to look like he's trying to hard, that's a little pathetic. He's a good horseman, since it has been hammered into his brain since birth, but he actually enjoys it. He prefers fighting on a horse than on the ground and that's not because of cowardice.
Weaknesses wise, he gets bored very easily. And this isn't just drum your fingers bored, he'll find something else to do, sometimes it won't benefit other people. So, yeah, he can cause havoc when bored. This is why he fills his days up, it doesn't always have to be strenuous activity, but it has to be something, otherwise he will retaliate through his boredom. He also hates nagging. Now, no-one likes it, but Asketel can be seen as a very calm exterior of a person, but if you nag him he'll stop, turn and shout. And he can shout for an oddly long time. Then he will turn and walk away. This is him being very rude. He just doesn't like being nagged.
Magic:
None.
Weaponry Skills:
Ah, he's a good swordsman, especially with a broadsword. He can also apply his skill to some archery on occasion, but he prefers the sword when it's offered. He can also fight just as well on a horse, maybe better, he has done more practise on a horse, but he is perfectly able on two legs, just doesn't like it as much.
Character History:
Asketel Dalziel Endellion, First Son Of King Braigham of The Northern Black Mountains. He was, unsurprisingly, born in the Northern Black Mountains Kingdom Castle to Braigham and Eyslk, their first child out of two more sons and a daughter. Now, Asketel grew up in a very, very privileged environment, and he knows it. He learned to fight, learned to ride a horse, learned to hunt and learned the ways of a prince. All good fun, yes? Sure, why not. Asketel enjoyed the fighting and the riding, especially sparring with his younger brother - although only by around ten months - Cormac. Cormac and Asketel were similar in ability, looks and even personality, sometimes to be mistaken as twins. Which was fine, they didn't mind, although Braigham always reminded Asketel that he was in fact older. Which frustrated the young man.
Now, Asketel and his brother were often sent on diplomatic missions or simply missions of greeting for their father as he had lost a leg in battle many years ago and could not travel. The brothers minded very little, it was a chance to ride out and see something else, something interesting. This was all well and good; the two brothers would ride out together in ordinary fashion, usually accompanied by one or two of the castle’s knights, just because they had to be. They didn’t mind, it’s still a good life. As long as Asketel had something to do, he could be kept as happy as pie.
Not a great deal really happened in the well protected Kingdom of The Northern Black Mountains. The high, steep sloping mountains tend to put off invading armies and the hidden look outs can see if any do. Although, there is little there to steal except some rather finely bred horses and some very good game pie made in the main castle. But that can be difficult to steal without some raised eyebrows. Anyway, as has been said, nothing happened of interest in the Mountains until the winter of Asketel’s eighteenth year. A harsh, unpredicted winter hit the Kingdom, whipping out the principle villages providing food for the citadel and surrounding town. This came as a dire shock, especially as their crop supplies waned and led to excessive famine in the poorer areas. There was little that could be done except wait it out as no help could be sent for with the violent storms raging.
As spring came around hoped seemed to dawn, the storms eased off and the summer brought a vague scattering of crops. Except not enough. By the time this tragedy had been found, almost a tenth of the population had been buried six feet under. The castle itself was low staffed, leaving Cormac and Asketel to help out as much as they could. However, not even this was helping and Asketel’s father summoned his son to him, asking him to ride to Camelot with all speed and ask for assistance, The Northern Black Mountains might be a proud little kingdom, but not enough to let their people starve, they were only small. Asketel saddled his own horse, packed his own bag [as his own manservant had died in the famine along with so many others] and departed with all haste.
Additional Information:
If you don’t like the idea of having another Prince in Camelot, I could change Asketel to being a High Lord, but it just worked out in the story as Asketel being a prince, I don’t really mind if you don’t want him to be there as royalty, he’d just be foreign royalty, even if the Northern Black Mountains are small and raggedy as a Kingdom.
Sample Roleplay:
The evening was setting in, the pink clouds fading to a dark orange. A large chestnut horse bridged the horizon, its huge head lowered slightly, long tail flicking against its flank. The rider atop the large stallion turned in the saddle to look back at the cold path it had just come from. A large open, scrub covered field lay in front of them, but it was what was beyond which was beckoning. Asketel sighed, urging his horse, Deystria, into a walk. The horse strode out proudly, although his head was still lowered from the long ride. And it had been a long ride. The days and nights had passed slowly for the young man, steering the huge animal along winding trails, occasionally dismounting and leading him along the thinner, more intricate webs of the countryside.
He had left the Black Mountains two days previously, travelling down the other side of the steep, dark hillside into the foreign lands beyond. He’d never been here before, and it would’ve been a pleasant experience if it wasn’t for the reason for his travelling. Deystria snorted, his breath coming up in a thin, wispy cloud. They needed to speed up if they were to reach Camelot before the fall of complete darkness. Turning the horse onto a clearer path, Asketel pushed the horse into a canter, covering the rough ground in long, easy strides. The food he’d taken from home had lasted for three days and the rabbit he’d caught the day before had lasted just long enough, but he was defiantly relieved to see the turrets of Camelot in view.
Deystria’s large hooves clattered on the stone as Asketel pulled the stallion into a walk from his frantic canter. He could feel the responsibility, or maybe it was the fatigue, plainly set in as he registered two Camelot castle guards coming towards him. “What would be your business here?” One asked, holding his spear in a non-threatening, but obvious, manner. “I am here to ask audience Camelot, I am Asketel of the Northern Black Mountains, a message was sent on ahead of me and I was given the idea it had arrived.” A month before a runner had been sent out with the message, but none had come back, his ‘idea’ had been more hope than proof. He didn’t know who he was going to face, it could be famous Prince Arthur or his father for all he knew, and he just wanted to face someone with the problem. His deep blue cloak was wrapped warmly around him as he waited for one of the guards to return from where he had jogged off to bring the message.

Any other characters on the site?:
I do have Gwen on audition, I told you I’d have more than one character, but don’t worry, I’m not a serial character maker. I think I’ll stop at two, I just wanted to bring in Asketel
