Throughout the Twelve Ages of Lastwynn, men and women have arisen to guard and guide the realm. These are individuals of power and prestige, and tales of their ancestral heroism are renown. It is due to the efforts of those of such royal and noble blood that the gift of magic has become wide-spread; that the Church of Aquilara has stood firm and settled across the lands. All this for the benefit of Lastwynn.
Not all is at peace within the realm. A new king sits upon the throne, far distant from the provinces of Altere and Chehdel and unknowing of their conflcit. The death of Lord Deran Altere left his province bereft of its true leader: with his acknowledged heir only a few months old, Deran's half-brother took the seat of Altere as regent. Rosamund Chehdel nonetheless organized her men-at-arms and a force of merencaries, and set off from her lands to invade those of Altere--another bloodfeud raging and unheeded by the king. Yet this story is not about them.
It is about the peasants caught underfoot, forgotten and cast aside as a war between the high-born erupts. The commoners of Altere Province have witnessed a year of Chehden invasion, their own army routed before winter, their crops destroyed, many wells poisoned, and hundreds left crippled or homeless. Those in Thrydale Town, the largest community in Altere, wait in growing distress as Spring thaws the roads. Lady Rosamund's army could arrive within mere weeks to assault what is, for many, their one and only home. The stress is taking its toll as the town teems with refugees, illness begins to spread from lack of proper food, and tempers between ethnic groups flare.
Will the townsfolk survive the Chehden threat, much less each other?
This play-by-post role-play focuses on the oft-forgotten commoner class, and explores their lives, choices and struggles during a time of war and chaos: what becomes of them remains to be seen. The setting for Low-born takes place in an original gritty feudal era, which includes distinct ethnic groups, a medieval occupations list in lieu of canon characters, subtle brands of magic, and several sub-plots to support the player-driven primary plot, with room for more. Low-born features an active staff eager to help new players.
