Evie had left the ceremony at Dante's graveside quickly. Not wanting to return to the city; she ventured further out into the woods. She rarely came out of the city like this, after all, her job and life was in the slums. Evie wandered aimlessly through the woodland paths. The mid morning sun was streaming through the trees, and late spring flowers were in bloom along the forest floor. Evie observed it all distantly, as if looking at a painting of something beautiful. She was deep in thought.
Stopping suddenly in her tracks, she smelt the air like a stunned woodland animal. What was that smell? She took a few steps forward still sniffing. It was the distinct smell of smoked fish. Evie's stomach rumbled. After her nausea that morning, she hadn't eaten at all, and now she wanted nothing more than salted fish. She attempted to follow the smell of the fish, which proved an impossible task and Evie suddenly began to doubt whether the smell was even real at all... Her body had been reacting weirdly since Dante's death. She blamed these oddities on the grief, despite the fact she hadn't experienced anything like it at her father's passing.
Pushing through some large leaves she emerged at a large lake. The fish smell had gone, but Evie was still hungry. She sat down on the bank, observing the spires of Camelot Castle in the distance. Evie glanced down at her reflection in the lake who was still wearing the white gown Arthur's guilt had led her to possessing, and despite not sleeping or eating very well, her face had a rosy complexion. Evie was angry for not looking as rough as she felt on the inside. Scooping a pebble into her hand, she threw it angrily at her reflection, distorting her features in the ripples.
