Dante shook his head, Of course it's yours. "I never suspected any different." He said and put an arm around her crying form. "I'm just sorry I won't be there to help you raise our child." He said. A ghostly tear fell off his face. Perhaps that was his eternal damnation. To wish to help in human matters, but to have lost his ability forever.
He sighed. He had a son or daughter that would grow up never knowing their father, hearing only the stories other's told of him. He wondered weather he would be remembered as a hero to the lows, or as an evil menace to society.
He put two fingers under Evie's chin and pulled her head up to look at him. He smiled gently at her and did his best to wipe the tears from her face. Once her face was mostly clear he kissed her gently.
"I had a large sum of money stashed away. I was going to save it for..." He wanted to say their wedding but he decided that it wasn't the most tactful thing that he could say at the moment. "...Later in life. As it would seem that I no longer have any need for it you should take it. Move somewhere more suited for raising a child than the slums of Camelot." He said quietly.

Evie leant into Dante's arm. It wasn't warm, but the ghostly figure still offered her some upright support. She mustered a small smile as he wiped away her tears, and began to tell her about his money.
Evie's first reaction was to turn down the offer; it was the way she had been brought up. As members of the brotherhood, the Perroy family had never been the most moralistic, but her father would never have accepted charity. But of course this was completely different. It was only natural Dante would want to provide for his child.
Nodding, she pulled away from him a little so they were looking at each other properly. "Okay." came her shaky reply. Evie breathed in, straightening herself as she did so. "I only have distant relatives from my mother's side outside of Camelot. I'll travel to their village. They may not know me, but I'm sure money will make them more hospitable..."
Now that she had some sort of plan of action, she felt more relaxed. She wondered if she would see Dante after this encounter.
"Will we ever see you again?" she asked, including their unborn child in the question. Her voice wasn't sad, or even hopeful. It was just a question.

Dante nodded. "That seems like a good plan." He said with a small smile.
He listened to Evie's questions and became sad. Dante shook his head, "I hope so." He said quietly. He wanted so badly to be able to hold his child when it was born, he wanted to live with Evie until they were old. But now that seemed impossible.
"I'm sorry Evie. For everything." He added. There were so many things he wished he could change, but he knew that he couldn't.

"I hope so."
Hope was enough. A few hours ago, Evie had hoped, wished, dreamed that she could see Dante one last time , and against all odds, everything that was within reason and rationality, she was here talking with him.
"I'm sorry Evie. For everything"
She squeezed his hand, trying to convey all the love and reassurance she knew he needed into that small gesture. "I'm not." she said, letting go and tucking her hair behind her ears. "There's nothing to be sorry for. You died fighting for what you believed in. And you'd already given me so much. Even now, now that I know you have to leave me again..." here Evie's voice wavered with emotion, and she breathed in sharply to steady herself. "Even now," she continued, "I'm not leaving alone." here she slid one hand across her stomach, "And I'm not scared, not now. You always made me feel like I was so much more."
She kissed him, and then walked down the trail, back toward the graveyard, and the city. Evie didn't want Dante to disappear like the last time, without her having any say in the matter. And though she was crying as she walked away from the man she loved, and the father of her child... it felt better to be in control. Evie smiled. And for the first time since the duel; she actually meant it.

Dante smiled a small, barely noticeable smile when Evie kissed him and walked away. He watched her go with tears in his eyes. She was a stronger person than he was. "I love you!" He called after her.
After he said that he felt the wind pick up. The etherial wind that would carry his soul away again. He wished he could stay but he knew that he couldn't. He felt himself being torn away from the world of the living as his feet began to blow away like dust. Slowly at first but gaining speed his legs, torso and finally head disappeared.
The clearing was empty now. The only noise being made by the birds that chirped in a nearby tree.
