Arthur smiled back at Avaris, amazed thath after all these years she should turn up in Camelot again. He was eager to have her meet his father at once, for he knew that Uther would be more than welcoming to the daughter of his long lost friend.
"Well what are you waiting for Avaris?" Arthur laughed as he went back to untie his horse. It was late and they would be waking the king up as it was, Arthur expected that the sooner they had to do that the better it would be for all parties!

Avaris laughed nervously and nodded. She would probably be thrusted into a social atmosphere after all these years, and not to mention was downright terrified of being set up with someone. She wasn't exactly the greatest with people, but apparently had made friends with Arthur, despite the torture she and Morgana put him through.
With an adorable bit of her lip, she couldn't help but blush again. "Yeah....we...we should probably head to Camelot. I'll go tend to gavin and kill the fire." She turned from him and worked at Gavin's saddle and blankets, tightening and retightening at the girth and saddle straps. The fire she had worked so hard to build, was barely alive and easy to kill down. Moments later, she returned to Arthur, helm in hand. "Now then..we shouldn't keep Uther waiting, shall we?"

Arthur mounted his horse and grinned, it was great having Avaris here but now that he thought about it, hadn't she and Morgana bullied him all those years ago? He frowned, and made a mental note to ask Uther or Gaius about that one. For now thought he would just be content with having an old friend back even if it was under the strangest of circumstances. He waitd while she extinguished the newly lit fire and watched the last of the light fade in the west.
As the pair rode back to the castle Arthur was suddenly struck by thought. "Avaris?" He asked, pulling his steed into a slow walk. "Why are you masquerading as a knight?"

Avaris looked at Arthur slowly with a heavy sigh. She started with shaky breath. "After....after the death of my parents, I was alone. I knew and...and had no one else in my world. " With another deep breath, she tried to collect herself to keep from the tears.
"I had to make a name for myself. At 14, I was too young to yet wed. I knew no one and had no family. I did the only think I could thing of, create a new identity, so I created myself as the Silver Knight. It's kept me going." Se pulled lightly at Gavin's reins to slow down his pace next to Arthur's. She was secretly thrilled about finding a place, a home again.

Arthur could feel the shakiness in Avaris' voice as she spoke of her parents and their terrible death. Despite it being years ago, it had obviously affected her a great deal, and Arthur felt like perhaps he should give her a hug or something. Being on a horse meant that was a little difficult, and so instead he settled for a quick squeeze of the hand. Well done you idiot. He thought afterward, I'm sure that really cheered her up!
It still sounded strange to think that Avaris had spent the last few years pretending to be a heartless knight, but he supposed that was her only defence mechanism. How those years had affected her, Arthur couldn't say but he was sure it would become clear once they were back in Camelot.
"Come on slow coach!" He called, racing off ahead eagerly.

Arthur's touch helped more than he probably thought, even though it was through a gloved hand. It was the first time in years, someone had actually cared or shown some sort of tenderness for her broken state of life. She rose a slow gaze to his piercing blue eyes and gave a faint smile letting him know she appreciated the gesture.
Avaris almost lost herself in the moment as soon as it was created, but Arthur, being himself raced ahead. She pressed her heels into Gavin who responded in a full gallop. "Oh come now Arthur, are you trying to get back at me from beating you earlier?" she joked as her own horse pressed on to his steed's flank.

"When exactly did you beat me?" Arthur argued, looking behind him to find Avaris catching up with him easily. He urged his own young horse to gallop faster, digging his heel tight against his flanks. "I think you'll find it was all a clever ruse to discover your identity. Oh! Looks like it worked!" He poked his tongue out at her, although in the dark these was always the chance she wouldn't see and laughed. Turning back to face forwards and realising that they were right at the Camelot city gates.
He slowed down and entered past the guards at a gentle trot, who saluted but said nothing. Avaris was lucky to be with Arthur, for a foreign knight would never have been let in easily should they have been alone.

"When did I not beat you Arthur Pendragon?" She gave a short laugh and slowed down her horse to let him win. He slowed to a canter and eventually a trot as they made their way into the Camelot gates. Avaris turned over her shoulder to watch the castle guards observing her intently. If they had arrived during the light of day, her appearance would have created much more of a silent uproar of whispers and questions. The cover of night prevented much of that.
They soon arrived in the square and Avaris sent Gavin off with a stable hand. She collected her breath following Arthur into the Castle. "How do you think Uther will take to seeing me after all these years...and not to mention...like this?"

[OOC: i SWEAR i changed that post to arthur...must have deleted the wrong one *oops*]
Arthur and Avaris left their horses at the stables, with one of the grooms who was on night duty there. Arthur wondered who in their right mind would agree to work a shift that more often than not, involved nothing but sitting and waiting. He certainly wouldnt, but the prince of Camelot couldn't imagine a life where he had to do what others dictated.
He took the stairs two at a time, eager for Avaris and Uther to meet again at last. He hoped his father would be happy to have her here, in fact he was sure he would be, despite the late hour in which they had arrived. He poised on the last step and pondered Avaris' questions.
"I'm sure he will be thrilled Av, but you're not wrong about the outfit...lets take a detour via Morgana's quarters?"

"You know..I haven't heard anyone call me that in years.." she smirked playfully at him. The moon was beginning to settle in the sky and the thought of time would hopefully work as an excuse. It...is late, perhaps she is already in bed. And, I honestly wouldn't mind watching Uther's jaw drop. It would definitely be interesting. Perhaps tomorrow, I can clean up and...appear a noble once more?" She smiled broadly up at him, catching up to his quick pace along the steps.

Arthur cocked his head to one side. He didn't believe Morgana would mind being woken up if it meant she would be greeted with the face of an old friend, but he was too pleased to show his father who he had found, to argue now. "Very well." He said with a smile, "But don't expect father to be too pleased with your attire. In his eyes females do not belong with swords and armour." He laughed, knowing full well that Uther would be dismayed but not surprised that Avaris had ended up playing the part of a rogue knight for so long. The pair continued through the castle and along the corridor where both Arthur and Uther had their own chambers. A guard nodded as Arthur approached and stepped aside to let both he and Avaris pass through, although Avaris did receive a slightly frostier look. "Father!?" Arthur called, throwing open the door and charging into the room with a grin on his face. "Father you will never guess who i have found!" "Arthur?" Uther questioned, with his brow furrowed. He had not been in bed thank goodness, but was dressed in a robe and clearly had not been expecting visitors either. "What is the meaning of this?" "Father, I found Avaris Malvallet!" Avaris swallowed and began to blush a bit in Uther's presence. She cleared her throat and rose a steady slow gaze to meet the great king's. She had not seen him in years, but he apparently remembered her, and he had not changed a bit.
With a broad smile, and chuckled a jolly laugh, Uther walked towards her, clasping his large hands around her shoulders. "I don't believe it, daughter of my old friend, my word you have grown." Avaris broke a small smile and nodded to his words. "It has been, has it not?" Uther laughed once more and looked her over, soaking in every detail.
"Arthur.." he spoke to his son with a tired smile. "Have a maid tend to her and find her a room..." he turned back to Avaris, standing idly and still trying to take in the moment. "In the morning dear child, you must tell me everything your parents, and why in heaven's a lady such as yourself goes about as a knight.." Avaris, nodded in his direction, holding back an unexpected yawn. "As you wish m'lord, sleep well and I will see you in the morning."

Arthur was positively glowing a Uther's reconciliation with Avaris. It had been many years since Avaris had last visited, and a small part of him had been worried that the king would not take kindly to her being back in Camelot. Especially in armour. But it seemed he was even happier to have the daughter of his old friend back than Arthur was and he was smiling like Arthur hadn't seen him do in months.
With a smile, Arthur left the kings quarters to find a maid- not a difficult task normally, although it was well past midnight now and there were less about than usual. He finally tracked one down though, and returned to find the pair still grinning like a couple of fools. "Sire, I..." The young girl began at the site of Avaris in her suit of armour. Arhur couldnt help but crack a smile, it must be a little scary to be entrusted with the well being of a knight.
"This is Avaris, Matilda." He told the young maid firmly. "She might look intimidating, but i promise her bark is worse than her bite." he laughed, at which Matilda gave a nervoud giggle. "And you Avaris, should try to be nice. I know its been a while but i'm sure you remember how to treat people?" He smiled and shot her a wink.
"Goodnight Av." And then Arthur left. Content with the knowledge that he had not only found an old friend but also brought a smile to an old mans face.

"Sleep well m'lord, I shall tell you everything to'morrow." Uther waved her out and retreated into his bed once more. Avaris gave a short laugh and followed her new maid out.
She turned and followed Arthur for a brief moment, dismissing her maid for a brief second. She looked up at him, deep and serene, but filled with the surprised kindness he had given. "Arthur..." she whispered softly. "Thank you...for this...I appreciate it, more than you know.."
