Raven rushed away like she was running away from Lancelot, and not as if she was attending to some work, so Lancelot hurried after her. He saw that she walked quickly .... almost running ...... the length of the top deck towards the bow. The last thing that he remembered as their last kiss had broken off was how red her face had been. But what exactly had she to be embarrassed about ... was she embarrassed about Lancelot? He finally found her in the bow of the boat, and her shoulders were jerking as if she was crying or sobbing. He put a hand on each shoulder and snuggled the front of his chest up against her back. "I never seem to know about you ... one minute you are pulling me in and the next thing you are running away. Are you that embarrassed by me?," he asked.

Lancelot had thought that he had caught her by surprise with the kiss, and the way that she reacted to it was quite un-Ravenlike, at least with him. She normally liked to maintain a separation .. a space ... or at least in control. here, she simply relaxed into him, not caring much about what was seen or not seen by others. As they separated she mumbled her thanks with a small smile, and just a bit of blush on her cheeks. She seemed to want to avoid too much eye contact as well, as she looked down for a moment. However, after that moment she looked back up again, seeking and receiving another kiss. Once again he sensed that she did not want to separate, but her duties aboard ship almost demanded that she did, even as she said his name once more. It was all fine with him, as long as she did not make an overt attempt to control him.

Lancelot knew, from the inflection in her voice, that she had something that she wanted to give him, or talk to him about. He thought that she might want to discuss some aspect of the place they were traveling to. Since he had his own weapons, which were generally sufficient, he was a bit taken aback that she had a weapon that she wanted to give him. Just because it was a surprise, though, did not mean that he was about to refuse. He watched as she unwrapped it and let out a gasp when he saw its craftsmanship.
"It is that, and much more," he said complimenting the sword's construction. "I am more than happy to accept it and what it entails." He looked back into her eyes with his pale blue ones as he inserted the sword into his belt, which held other blades. He saw her eyes catch is suddenly, as she turned. He grabbed her hand and turned her back towards him, so that their eyes caught each other, just as he kissed her, as a thanks for the gift she had given

he found her answer about knowing people at their upcoming destination as somewhat non-committal. He knew from experience that when she started talking like that that she often had some covert plans afoot. he also figured that she knew some people, probably some shady characters, that they would meet. Undoubtedly they would be some allies of her Order. She turned and walked into the center of the ship, and since she did not tell him not to follow, he thought the instructions were implicit that he follow her. he saw her in the doorway of a cabin ahead, and he saw her beckon him forward. "Yes ... Raven?"

There was nothing like some excitement to start off a trip, Lancelot thought. He watched as she re-sheathed her weapons, and he finally replied ..... "Very well ... Lady Raven .... Raven. I much prefer when you be your true self, rather than hiding your true nature," he smiled. "And trust me ..... you are not alone. Well .... that is convenient since I am not nobleman, but must frequently act like I am." She suddenly reached out and took his hand and rested her head on his shoulder. It gave him a feeling that she had absolute trust him. "Well, just because it will be long is no reason why it shouldn't be a pleasant, especially given the company I will have. Tell me about where we will be going. Do you know anyone there, or is this a complete adventure?"

Lancelot had just dismounted when he was greeted the Lady Raven. She did not kiss him, but she did smile and give him a hug. But she did seem quite a bit more nervous than normal. "Yes, but I felt like I could feel eyes watching me the last several mile." It did not take long for him to understand why she was so. No sooner had he responded to her command-like statement with, "Yes my lady," that he saw a group of Templars assault. It seemed that she was taking several out with one stroke. He pulled a dagger and through a killing shot with it into one attacker that she had missed. He then caught her in his arms as she ran and dove onto the ship. He gave her a smile and said, "You do make grand entrances and exits don't you .... milady?" It was not if the sailors needed her command, since they were already executing the maneuver as they had begun to be attacked.

Lancelot and Raven had had to split up before traveling to the harbor. She had things to organize and set up before they could leave. The ship had to be prepared and supplies delivered and a crew made ready. Lancelot, on the other hand, had some personal issues to take care of. He had to formally request leave from Arthur's service, and determine whether he would have his blessing to travel abroad as a Knight of Camelot. Lancelot felt that, although he would still be a Knight, on this journey he would be protecting Raven, and not representing Camelot.
So he had put his uniform away, and put on a more generic Knight's uniform. He traveled with 2 long-swords, since he was by nature ambidextrous, and his weaponry was more visibly worn, so as to discourage any who might want to challenge him. Finally, after a say or two, he rode up to the gangplank of the ship on his black Arabian stallion, ready to embark on this journey as Raven's bodyguard, even though she was quite capable of taking care of herself. He nodded a greeting to her as he dismounted.

"As you wish, milady." To his initial surprise, she, without any hesitation, invited him to come with her. However, on immediate reflection, it seemed like the right thing to do. Arthur had no need of him, and as a non-noble Knight it might be best if he went off for a time and proved himself on a quest. Besides, there was something different in her eyes this time, as if she needed him for more than his sword. It would be interesting to explore he thought ..... maybe he had discovered a different side to her he wondered. "The length of the journey will not be a hardship milady, but it may be one of the best aspects to the trip. The company, I think, makes all of the difference," and he bent his neck to give her a last kiss before they started on their way.

As soon as he kissed her he felt a change in her and a sudden spark of electricity. He wondered almost immediately, knowing that she was magic, and he was not, whether he was falling under some kind of spell. "There is nothing to forgive ..... we are all human ..... we all make mistakes .....", and he kissed her, still softly, but more deeply, as he fell more deeply into her, as if into a spider's web. "The last time, but surely you will not go alone. You should have some sort of escort .... shouldn't you?" He couldn't believe that he was saying these words, but he heard them just the same. "If I was worthy I would offer my services, but I am sure there are others you would rather do the task."

He saw her stare at him for a moment, speak her piece, and then whistle for her horse. "Well, at least you are being honest with yourself now. You know that nothing worthwhile is possible unless you begin with honesty. For my part, I serve the Pendragons and Camelot, not the Templars. You had me in your power, as your prisoner. It did not seem like love. However, whether you are worthy or not is not up to you, but others." He came up behind her, brushed the tears from her eyes and bent down, planting on a soft kiss on her lips, trying to see if any real connection like love did exist.

Lancelot was not really surprised when she snatched her arm back, but he did not respond positively to her command. "I do not serve you at you leisure, but as a Knight of Camelot, serve the Pendragons and all of Camelot." He was somewhat taken a back by the enchanted creatures that he sent at him, as she commanded him to leave once more. He fought them off, one at a time, and answered, "I do not condemn a man for the group he associates with but by the actions of the individual, as any true leader should."
He saw her call off her minions and look away with sadness. "You captured me and I was subject to your bidding. If we were on equal terms there is no telling what we could be to one another, be it friend or something more. You are in error to think that you are not worthy of any man, me in particular," he said as he sheathed his sword once more.

Lancelot looked on her with some sadness, took some moments to formulate his reply, then said, "As you wish. However, if you are attacked I will still defend you. I wonder, though, milady if it is possible for you to love beyond your order, as it is beyond me to love anything beyond my King. I lost my one true chance for love long ago, and I wonder, even now, whether it would have survived. I was not worthy of her. Did you ever consider that I was not worthy of you either."
He shook his head back and forth. "Every person is of meaning to me, especially you, milady. I think it might be best if I stayed and watched over you for a bit. One never knows, your friends might return and look for some more sport." He watched as she turned her back, and having some suspicions of what she might try, grabbed her right arm, squeezing her wrist until she dropped the weapon. "Exactly what is that symbol?," he asked.

It was obvious that no matter how badly that she was hurt that she wanted or would accept any help from him. "That's a bit like the pot calling the kettle black now isn't it. You accusing me of using you. You are the one that took me prisoner against my will," he said as she ran away.
With her injuries though, she could not run away quickly, and the trail of blood she left from her several injuries made her easy enough to track. He followed the signs of her blood to a small cave. It was likely that this was its only entrance, and that a cornered animal, though injured, could be the most dangerous when it had no place else to run to, At the very least it could be the most likely to lash out unpredictably. He entered the cave, dimly lit by the fire, seeing only the outline of her form, but here was something wrong. She was much thinner than she had been just moments before. Was she not still pregnant, and what was it that she now held in her hand? He stood only a few feet from her now, and uttered, "What is the meaning of all this Raven?"

He saw the form stir and heard it grown. Even before it spoke intelligibly he knew that it could be none other than Raven. Had those men, hardly more than slavers, done this to her. They would pay for it and pay dearly. She stood up, finally, and began to move away from him, but it was apparent that she was badly injured, and she was with child. He could see the blood, and he wondered if the child were alive, let alone injured ... that she carried.
"You may not know it, Lady Raven, but I am well known to dwell in the Forest of Balor, whenever I can. It is not an uncommon thing. No .... my heart does not belong to you. Would you prefer that it be a slave to yours. Yes, my heart was lost to Gwen long ago, but she will be with a better man one day. You can not have a thing by just wanting it Raven. And by the way, just because you don't want my help doesn't mean that you can refuse it. I will not permit you to allow your life to be taken as well as the one you carry." He saw her fall down, and he simply scooped her up and put on his horse's back and speedily as he was able took her to Camelot where the Court Physician could treat her.

When Lancelot came up behind the woman he had tried to take care to frighten her, for he did not know if she had been aware of his presence. However, he did want to know if he could get something to drink and whether he could arrange accommodations for the day and the night to come. He saw she did react to his voice quickly, but her body language and facial expressions did not indicate that she was displeased at his presence, though he was fairly sure that she she did not know who he was right off. In fact, he saw some color go to her cheeks, but was unsure exactly what the cause was.
"You are quite welcome .... I did not catch your name ..... I am Lancelot .... Sir Lancelot Du Lac. You carry the tune well. Not many have the gift. Ahhh ..... the ale and room .... all at once. I am fortunate this day," .... he said with the slightest of a friendly wink. He watched as she put her broom away and wiped her hands on her apron, and went behind the bar. He assumed that she was going for his ale. He chose a table where he could sit in the shadows with his back to the wall. he hated the idea of being surprised from the rear by a stranger. It was a fatal mistake that he was not willing to risk.
He watched as she deftly brought his ale to him and indicated that the key to his room would be forthcoming soon. She returned shortly, with his key, directions to his room, and a question. "Well, then, for this moment all is right with the world. There are few things a man doth need, is there ..... other than drink and a place to rest his head. With the exception of some food, of course. It would be nice to have some company as well, but I'm sure you are busy, and wouldn't want to take you from your duties," he said with a nod to his head.
