Henry winced as Gills hand collided with his already bruised cheeks, if he wasn't already due for a black eye, he was fairly confident he would be now. He began to rub his face and quietly whispered,
"I guess I deserved that..."
Before the words had even left his lips they were smothered by Gill's as she pulled him in for a very harsh kiss. He whimpered slightly as she squeezed against his injured arm, but he thought better of complaining, content with just being close to her after everything. When she did pull away finally it was not a moment too soon, for Henry had just started to feel the gentle trickle of blood from under his dirtied bandage.
He was glad that Gill seemed to want to stay close to him, and he kissed her hair gently as she cried against his chest. His own tears seemed to have burned out now, and more than anything he just wanted to be home and safe and have Gill cared for and rested.
"Let's go." He said quietly, standing up and trying to pry himself from her grip. She instantly clung to his hand and despite everything he looked down at her and smiled, gripping her tiny hand tightly and trying to convey to her in that one movement that he would never leave again.
"There's so many questions. How, how did you find me? Who are you?" She asked looking up at him from her position on the cold hard ground.
Henry stopped in his tracks and looked her in the eye not an inch of deception in his face. She seemed scared and yet somehow determined to finally find out who the mysterious and elusive Henry Renold was, and he finally knew it was time to tell her.
As the truth came out about his past, his training for the brotherhood and his lifestyle he wished he had told her before. It was like a weight had been lifted from his very soul. There would be no more secrets between them, at least not on his part, and she perhaps would understand why he had such drastic mood swings sometimes. He only hoped this would not change the way she saw him- he hadn't yet worked out where she stood in regard to the brotherhood.
"Come on." He said, pulling her to her feet and setting off to where he had left Dante. They were in for a long walk back but somehow he felt lighter on his feet now and time was irrelevant.
