Arthur snatched the egg away quicker than he had meant to and he smiled apologetically at the girl who looked a little more worried about him taking the object than he had expected her to.
"Of course I'll tell you!" He said, trying to sound reassuring but probably only confirming Evie's suspicions that he might take it and give it to the king where it might be traced back to her and her Low-friends.
"I will keep it safe until i can at least find out what it is or what it might be worth. Then if you so wish i will give you the profit from its sale or...OW!" Arthur yelped as a sudden searing pain shot up his arm. The egg rolled to the tips of his fingers where it teetered dangerously until he regained some form of consciousness and grabbed it with his other hand.
"Did you see that?!" Arthur yelled, staring at the egg which lay motionless in his hand. It didn't look even remotely extraordinary now, could it have been that he had imagined the pain?
"Aaah!" He wailed again as now his left hand burnt. Once again the egg, seemingly having a mind of its own, spun to the edge of his fingers and (was that a jump?) fell off the edge of his hand. It the ground with a gentle thud, and then rolled slowly across the flat ground towards Evie's feet.
Staring in shock at what had just happened, Arthur watched as the orb came to a stop as it reached Evie.
"It seems to like you?!" Arthur said in amazement. "But i really do need to take it."
He scooped it up into his cloak which he still had draped over one shoulder and formed a sort of sling where it couldnt escape from. He bid Evie farewell and wandered back tot he castle in awe.
